  1. Can you elaborate? How is that "abuse"? It's just like on commercial TV. And, yes, websites/services like Youtube cost. A lot. Just imagine how much webspace they need for all those videos, or the costs for developing the site, making it secure, marketing etc. So, they have to either do paid subs or, for the most users, do ads. I really can't see the abuse. I already stopped using my adblocker (which is really just for blocking those penetrant website big ads which popup on some shitty website...) on Youtube, because I knew that they "take the gloves off" now. Again, I can understand them. That "everything has to be free" attitude on the net doesn't at all account for the work and expense which are happening on all websites.
  2. Hm... why did I think that Enter to frob is hardcoded? Still have to learn a lot about this mod after all these years...
  3. Regardless of what will be implemented in the end, it's both better than having to switch from one side of the keyboard to the other to frob the body...
  4. TBH, I'm all for keeping stuff easy. This brings more complexion to an already complex system, which takes into account leaning, movement speed, crouched and standing position and stuff. I also think that most of the people here underestimate how hard this game is for beginners. It's even hard for me, and I played this game and similar games for almost 20 years now. TDM is a LOT harder than the Thief games, and, those were considered quite hard back in the days as well. I don't think the barrier of entry should be set even higher. I also frankly see no benefit in terms of gameplay or atmosphere. And, if I may also say this: The original Thiefs didn't have it. May sound lame, but, I think this game tries to capture the feel and gameplay of the originals. Including certain gameplay mechanics, which IMO shouldn't be touched.

    Free games

Q.U.B.E. Ultimate Bundle is free on Epic at the moment: https://store.epicgames.com/de/bundles/qube-ultimate-bundle Next week's freebie: The Evil Within. Also a nice one.
  6. Old post, but, the main issue isn't that a game loses "depth" (whatever that is) when it's being played with a controller. The main issue for me always has been, and always will be: Aiming. Aiming with a mouse is so ridiculously superior to aiming with a controller that most action based game are literally unplayable for me with a controller. Ok, the Thief games and also TDM are rather slow paced, and don't require you to aim precisely very quickly, but, it's still better to play with a mouse. The only thing controllers do better is the movement speed. That's stepless/analog possible with a controller with analog sticks. But, that's not an issue here either, because, TDM only has 3 movement speeds, which require button presses.
  7. Sure. With "write it down", I mean write it into my password manager, of course.
  8. ... or to the vocal minority. Anyway. First thing I do when choosing a password is to write it down. I even do that before I set the password in the software. To prevent stuff like this.
  9. I see. Well, since 2015, I guess I always used the online option then. In that case, the fallback when losing the PIN is the Microsoft login. I wasn't even aware that the offline option still works. There always have been reports that it doesn't work anymore, and Microsoft requires a Microsoft account.
  10. I don't understand which pass word is meant anyway. The only thing I needed when setting up Windows 10 and 11 were my Microsoft credentials, and a PIN to lock my computer. So, I'm not sure which password there is talk of.
  11. Such modifications are often flagged as false positives by antiviruses. That said, I'm quite paranoid in that regard as well. better safe than sorry. Problem is, that file is way too big for www.virustotal.com
  12. That's not a problem in Windows. Most likely another Linux issue. It's not a Linux game after all, so, there is no "adaptation", but rather just running it with a wrapper.
  13. Nice, thanks for the heads up. Angel of Darkness is actually the only Tomb Raider (apart from those horrible reboots...) which I never played through. Might give it another go with this mod. The controls definitely are an issue with the vanilla version of this game. Edit: Here's the link to the actual mod: https://www.tombraiderforums.com/showpost.php?p=8408403&postcount=1889
  14. .. and it's a very helpful tool, actually.
  15. It might just happen when you face down while dropping the body. I don't know really. It doesn't always happen here. But, in the last mission I played (Hare in the Snare), it happened a LOT. There's also a bug in 2.11 which makes you miss blackjacks, obviously when the guard is alerted to your footsteps, which drives me nuts sometimes. The blackjack just goes through the body as if you would hit air. No idea how to reproduce that one either, but, also happens frequently.
  16. I have that frequently since TDM 2.11 came out. FWIW.
  17. I don't know if there are technical issues with it, but, that would work if frob would still be a short click, and frob and use (or just use, in case of dropping the body) the long click, as I mentioned above.
  18. Yeah. I would expect the same mouse click to drop the body then. This is how I imagined this to work: Short click to frob, long click to frob and use. And also long click to drop the body, if you're carrying one.
  19. That makes no sense at all to me. How does it work with candles? Short click picks them up, and long click douses them? Or also the other way around? Edit: Nevermind, I just read the OP again, and, it seems to work as intended. Doesn't really make sense to me that way, as I would have guessed it was the other way around, but, whatever. It would be less of a change if a short click still did what a short click did before, but, a long press would replace the two key necessity. At least that makes more sense to me. Don't know how you see it. Maybe there's something I'm missing.
  20. And I thought the idea was short click to frob, long click to lift the body.
  21. Hmm... I haven't tried it, but, shouldn't it be short click to grab the body/limbs?
