This is a nice one. Thanks Arcturus!
BTW...
Where's the model railway ?
-
Solid work as usual though the graphics card had a hard time with this mission.
-
I need clearer instructions, apparently.
I had the same problem.
Follow the footsteps. From the study, go left. Then left down the hall. Then left down the door that opens.
You only hear the footsteps in the beginning and you should run to be faster than the ghost.
... the only place you can go is the study and from there you are herded to chase the other intruder. The chase should be quite straightforward exept the first turn when the intruder darts left into the arch way (servants quarters). This is the "hardest" part of the chase, after that you cannot go wrong, as it'll be easier to detect the open doors and later he'll be tip over a barrel with wine and from there he'll be making foot prints. In the servants quarters you'll be making your first encounter with the ghosts...

This is a great, spooky mission.
The room you're looking for is a secret area under the stairs in the east wings. The switch to that compartment is located inside the trophy room, the room with the sword and arrows.
I only found some wood in the storage room under the stairs ?!
In the master bedroom there are some readables in the bedside table but I can't read them.
BTW: Where's the oil for the freezer ?

A great mission with nice special effects.
-
Very nice, smooth flowing mission.
-
Congrats Bikerdude.
I wasn't looking in the TDM Editors Guild.

Is there a result for the winning mission of the Community Seasons Contest 2011 ?
-
Fantastic experience, great level design, details, and atmosphere. Really love this FM!
Ditto!
Finally managed to play this mission without Fiasco at graphics card. There are too many lanterns.
-
This is a really superb mission with nice videos.
Few questions for those who have played:
The mission has a few little colourful bits that can easily be missed, and I'm curious whether a lot of people saw them or not.
Did people see the archer eating carrots in the kitchen?
How many people were propositioned by the whore?
How many people went through the front door, and which of the three routes did you take to get there?
I didn't notice a whore or do you mean the one in Sykes' room shouting "There's a thiiiiiieefff" ?
Perhaps we can make a deal: His key is for the door where he left a note.

A nice mission with a lot of new stuff.
I tried to open the map in Dark Radiant and it crashed.
Then I tried r_showLightCounts and the game crashed...
...but I did get a peek and saw a great number of white areas (6+ overlapped lights). I am not sure if my dmap took or there was simply too many lights in the scene anyway (downstairs long-view hall).
Mental note to myself: They said it's a problem of the graphics card and not TDM.
If anyone is having perf. issues with TDM missions, then they can put the following cvars into their doomconfig.config file, this will improve the framerate and stutter/chop when in-game, but may increase loading times a little -
image_usePrecompressedTextures "1" image_useNormalCompression "2" image_useAllFormats "1" image_useCompression "1" image_preload "1"
Sorry... couldn't resist.
Love the Monty Python's Quest for the Holy Grail references
By the way: Looks like there's a new wood texture with a face.
-
image_usePrecompressedTextures "1"
image_useNormalCompression "2"
image_useAllFormats "1"
image_useCompression "1"
image_preload "1"
I'm using these settings, Anti Aliasing is off and Post Processing is disabled.
The game works fluently when dynamic lights like candles or torches are dark.
The graphics card has 128 MB VRAM.

Lovely red houses... this must be from Scandinavia.
A great mission with lots of nice details (even in the toilet)
And TDM crashes more often now than before 1.06...Malloc errors and stuff, often occuring after dmapping one map, play it, and then dmap another.
Glad I'm not the only one. Doom crashes when I try to save the game.

Another very nice and cool mission from the author of Pandora's Box aka Starship Enterprise for TDM.
Easter eggs in winter is a great idea and the puzzles were fun. Thank you !

Well according to the readables
once the skull is blessed, it's the next morning that the curse is lifted not at the moment of blessing the skull.
OK... I was just wondering when I met him on the way out.
-
Hint: deep dark and scary... irachnids and the stench of the rotting flesh...
Found it but the ghost is still fooling around in the garden after all objectives are solved.
The only other problem I had was with so many doors but after running around for awhile I got my bearings on what door led where and things were good. Oh yeah one other thing - spiders - enough said.
LOL ... I knew there will be a comment from Thiefette.
I thought so many doors, spiders and undead.
-
Great mission.
Tiny bug: The frogs are missing in the pond.
Can you give a hint where the correct skull is ? I had no problem to solve the other objectives.
TIA

That said, if TDM is comparatively slower than previous TDM versions with specific dynamic lights like candles or torches then perhaps the extinguishable light SDK framework has become a bit heavier. I think there are plans to revisit the performance of this feature... (I saw some source-code comments where Tels said such and such could be cached, etc...)
I was hoping this problem will be fixed in 1.06 but the performance is still slow.
-
Thank you for this nice misson.
The big building is meant to be an abandoned church - when you approach the tomb a builder revenant appears and asks you to find his body and lay it to rest.
There was someone there but I didn't hear a voice and it vanished shortly after I noticed it.
I tried to hide because he had a sword.
-
the card will still be fine for 1.05, its just that there were new options added in the advanced options in the video control panel. You just need to turn them down and tdm will perform as before.
Hi,
Fan Mission: Fiasco at Fauchard Street doesn't work at all and Doom crashes without any comment. I don't think these cards can handle 1.05.
-
-
If not, please add this and post whether performance improves...
I've added seta r_useScissor "1" to DoomConfig.cfg but the result is still the same frame lag.

Hello,
can someone post the system requirements for The Dark Mod releases in the future ?
The Wiki says:
If you got a graphic card from NVidia older than the GF 7x00 series, consider upgrading it.A GeForce 8x00 card should work because it performs faster than a single ATI Radeon HD 2900.
The ATI Radeon HD 3200 I'm using was fine until TDM 1.04 was released.

Thanks for this great mission.
Always the same, loud background music is a bit annoying.
How do you "Find out about the shipments being made" ?
