1. Well, he said that after he suddenly lost his access to the dev SVN, he lost all motivation to continue with TDM. I have no idea what went on in the dev forums (there seems to be some heated arguing at the time), but the result is that it seems we lost the person who worked on the i18n system.
2. Guys, Tels just replied and sent me the link to the translated FMs on his server. http://bloodgate.com/mirrors/tdm/pub/i18n/ He gave his okay for you to copy those FMs and make them available on your server(s).
3. I have backed this game on KS, but as is with all the other games I backed, I want to wait until a final version is out before I play them. The only exception to this was War For The Overworld, a Dungeon Keeper... well, clone, for lack of a better word (yes, I do know that we have a thread here dedicated to whether TDM is a clone of Thief). Even now, with its unpolished and nowhere near final state, the game is immense fun. Regarding Sir, I do hope that the visibility meter will be improved. Right now, judging from the videos, you can't really say when you are being spotted, apart from to robots commenting and shooting at you.
4. I have no idea. I am no programmer, and I just supplied Tels with translations and some insight, because, frankly, I have no idea how the i18n system works. Unfortunately, Tels so far has not replied to my email. I do hope that he will, eventually, but if he doesn't then I can only ask people how have downloaded those translated missions before they went offline to post their local copies here.
5. This goes in line with the fact that we have a massive influx of new clearly German forum members. I guess this is mostly due to the coverage of Gamestar. This is the biggest gaming site in Germany, after all. Also, Chip.de is a fairly frequented site, so those two heavyweights alone should generate a lot of traffic.
6. Hi, I'll ask the person in charge if he can send the translated files over to the official repository. Indeed, so much energy was put into the translation that it would be a shame to waste it.
7. BD, most of the DLCs are crap, but the game itself is actually good. However, in the spirit of true PC-ness, I'd suggest you play the game in Ranger Mode medium, as it will switch off those annoying popups like the throwing knife kill thing. I do NOT recommend to use Ranger Mode Hardcore, as that will switch off all on-screen displays, like ammo count and whatnot. The game itself allows the player to use a lot of non-lethal stealth (think: k.o.), although in some places you have n other choice but to kill. Still, this is a big improvement to Metro 2033, where stealth was more of an afterthought. Oh, and you cannot drag bodies, which is a crying shame.
8. Do you have any information if they scrapped the *entire* XP system, or maybe just the "congratulations, another headshot" system?
9. Thanks, man. I'll be sure to try that out. Moonbo, your FM so far has been terrific. I just listened to the song in the church, and it was a beautiful experience. I wish more mappers would use such ideas.
10. As far as I know, Rapture 3D is not actively developed anymore. At least last time I checked the list of supported games showed mostly old(er) titles.
11. At 1:16, when I first jumped I became stuck in the geometry when I landed. I had to noclip out of it to progress. At 1:27, I do not have the foggiest idea how you made this jump. I tried that by running and then jumping, but I always fell down at half-way. What did I do wrong?
12. To be honest, I'm wondering the whole time if IHaveReturned is not the next incarnation of Aida Keeley you are talking to. Or maybe it's ZylonBane. They both have a shit personality.
13. My setup is Win7/x64, Asus Xonar DX 7.1 (speakers), Realtek onboard audio (mike). Since the mike on the Xonar and the speakers on the Realtek are disabled in Windows, there shouldn't be any interference.
14. Seems this is a bug. I hope the team will be annoyed enough of it to fix it sometimes.
15. SeriousToni, my guess is that it will then emulate 3D sound. While emulation is nowhere near as good as a real 5.1 setup (I had the Speed-Link Medusa 5.1 headset for many years), it still serves the purpose. lost_soul, using your method I managed to increase s_numberofspeakers to 5 (instead of the default 2). It's also correctly written to the Darkmod.cfg file. However, on every game restart the value seems to be set back to 2. Is there a way to fix this? maybe via the autoexec.cfg file?
16. Can someone please put this on the distribution list so I can d/l it from the game? I'm too lazy do that manually. ^^
17. Have you tried to switch to Open AL hardware support in the game? This fixed surround for me.
18. Eldorel just posted a torrent. Please find it here.
19. Well, then how about a torrent? It's the way to go for such large distributions, isn't it? Edit: This torrent was just posted.
20. I'm not finished with TWD, That being said, I watched a complete and uncommented Let's Play of "The Last of Us" on YT (I don't own a PS3). This is definitely one of the most intense experiences of my gaming life, and it left me thinking even days after.
21. Obstler, I can look over your German version, if you like.
22. Now imagine the outcry of the console players if the patrol routes would have been made as "hard" as in TDM. "Random AI sucks ass!" "It's too hard!" "Can't deal with it!" "Make the game easier!" I imagine that's always the trouble when you are developing for a large audience vs. a small crowd of dedicated fans.
23. That's what bothers me the most in current gaming: That people are actually not finishing their games, for one reason or the other. Games react to that, of course, so we have to endure this focus-group tested tripe that's called AAA now. Just look at Deus Ex: HR: Only 38.8 percent of the players have reached the achievement "The End", which means that just two thirds have actually finished the game. I don't have the exact numbers (too lazy to Google), but the same was with Dead Space, which is why the follow-up games were dumbed down so much. By the way, other games fare even worse.
24.
The full game can be purchased and installed in Steam with the early access option. Though they clearly state that is in active development. http://store.steampo...?snr=1_7_15__13
I do, however, recommend to watch some Let's Plays of the game. It is a very unique kind of game. I certainly have it on my radar, but I will definitely wait for the final version to decide if it's really my kind of game.
