  1. It is very subjective if you say that the frob is boring, i personally like it just fine. You shouldnt give this to authors, go to the top floor and give it directly to players. Make an option in the settings for different frob options. I can say these things because critics of my work have spoken to me, about my frob highlight and so i decided to implement a setting row for the user, in the settings menu.
  2. I like the title. A mission inside a hammer factory. That sounds lit!
  3. Current update is this: I took a break from gamedev that i will probably finish in december. I made a proper list with changes and stuff that so far has 26 entries. I want to make a longer video with much slower movement setting. And i want to talk over the video to explain things. I only post updates on youtube and twitter. Thanks for your thoughts! :3
  4. I studied alot of lockpicking systems and decided that even with all my skill it would be better to take a simple one from the Marketplace and enhance it. I took a bethesda inspired one and added bolt levels to it and removed the pin breaking. I have some basic issues with it but the overall result is: It has to be simple. This feature is a core feature so you dont want to make it a large complicated effort. I just hate the system in thief 1 and 2. They are just clunky and horrible. Thief 3 was super fast and had levels... That was properly done.
  5. @nbohr1more This is exactly one good reason to keep your distance to thief. I cannot fulfill the needs of the thief community so from the beginning there was a clear statement in my mind that i would do my own thing. I am working on this alone mostly but i have a thief veteran at my side who made fan missions himself. Together we talk about alot issues and we take into account posts people make on different forums. Your suggestions on tdm are directly influencing my game, so keep making them, they are heard by me aswell! Also i take my main inspiration from popular thief 2 fan missions. Keeper of infinity, Rocksbourg, Calendra, Vanishing Point, Rose Cottage, A better tomorrow and other ones i just forgot. Also i would like to go a more open dark route with my storyline and world, something akin to john wick, sin city and the witcher 1. As long as it fits the story and is in reason i would like to show it. Wish me luck i am gonna need it.
  6. I actually forgot to show the credits in the video. I am using tdm music currently with thief OG music. That is all temporal. For the Fan Mission part, well its certainly possible yes but i have to focus on making a great game for now! The game is coded in a very modular way in preperation for modding. I hope in the future to use more ressources on asset creation and sounds but those arent important. Thief looks really bad and is aged alot but we still heavily enjoy it. Its all in the gameplay which matters to me the most
  7. If i am shamelessly advertising my project here then please let me know! I would like to drop you a video of my 11 months project. You can of course do what ever you want but please keep in mind the following. I dont actually thing that either thief 1 or 2 or 3 are great games. I think they are fantastic but i am not into them fully. I feel like they are too long, unfocussed and i find it a bit to subtle. I am making my own thing here but i am trying to not derive to heavy of thief. Please respect my wish todo my own thief. With love, F.
  8. The missions have evolved from their clunky blocky mess look to finally smooth organic. Very impressive.
  9. The wobbly legs are actually quite cool. They enhance the fear and anxiety alot as you slowly realize how fucked up everything is. Its a thing with crysis games but i never felt it was disturb.

  11. When i read Open World Stealth game i have 2 Reactions: First, i feel like this would be insanely massive in scope for any devteam... so probably very low in content quality. That is not thief. Second, what a great idea man, i always wanted to explore the entire city and not just the specific parts that are sectioned. I always wanted to see beyond, wanted to see what else the world of thief worries about. The thought that besides the main story factions fight, people with new stories that invite small extra missions. Maybe a dog fight club or the out side area full of pagans. I see alot good in recent immersive sim games but i also see that they are mostly feature creeps. Quality suffers too much...

  13. About the Blackjack thing, i ask myself why it even exists. In my studies about immersion and realism i came across multiple voices that clearly said that the blackjack is a murder weapon. Do people honestly believe that you can safely knock someone out with a heavy stick? I like the way they do it in dishonored, it is very close to the real world equal and is indeed much more safe. The Black Jack needs an unrealistic amount of Game magic multiplicator to work. And the way that you can just bonk everyone on the head from any angle... and they all just fall over safely and fast. That is very very OP.
  14. I also find the anti knockout rule a bit strong because of my playstyle. You dont violate the prime directive of stealing stuff by knocking out a few people. It should be up for gamerules and not immersion. I like to just bonk everyone if possible, its safe and i am not good enough for ghosting.

  16. I like the missions, all the cool ideas and usage of systems. But i think it needs some polishing. The hall reverb effects are really over the top. There is a robot that makes a really really loud hissing noise hes out side at the starting area. The cameras seem to make alarm but i cannot hear it? Its clearly very cool and i hope to finish it soon
  17. I must be fair, i had an issue with the electric light. I didnt enjoy it that there were no lightswitches those clearly would add alot to me. I havent found any :c
  18. Yee that is a difficult problem but i do want to state that AI after this only goes into alert mode for a while. In thief 3 they freak out and you have to go somewhere else, they might even press the alarm. However not every guard could have that attention level, as we know alot of guards are straight out drunk.
  19. I am very ok with the resistence, i understand now that it wouldnt add anything to the thief soul itself. I am interested about the idea of stealing small loots now instead of giant metal bars and golden dog statues... Maybe there is a relation to the loot directly. An investigation has been started
  20. Well this is more theoretical. Ideas for enhancing the original thief formular and getting feedback from a part of the thief community. It would need to have a setup of data for every loot item and a heavily array driven setup. The bag should be able to carry the item array and it should be part of the main system. There are problems with this idea in regards to the dropping of the bag and the idea that you had to retrieve the bag later and go back to it over and over.

  22. I cant find any topic about this with the search bar. Need a new 2020 Topic for this! Can we have a discussion about garret stealing the entire inventory of a museum but still beeing able to walk and jump as usual? Should the amount of loot the player stole not make noises or more? I am looking into this as there is an inherint issue with immersion and realism. What are thoughts abouts this?

  25. My appeal to it is that it looks smooth and clear. Like i can feel the depth now. I would love to see more but i fear its a dead end. The geometry in the newer missions is already so detailed that it could be useless to turn down just the textures. love n hugs
