I remember only a few movies where gruesome violence make any sense... Hostel is definately not one of them.

We (a group of crazy people) need something like a vocabulary which you can fill in and configure your way. We need words that don't exist in any language to translate to something else, so an English-Russian vocabulary won't help us. We need to enter the word "rontei", and get an explanation "Basically means good, as a noun, used as "happiness/goodness", as a verb, "make happy/good". Example..." and so on. Since the word "rontei" is not present anywhere, we need a vocabulary we can fill in on our own. Besides that, eh, we really need an option to select "Translate from Brunnen-G to Russian", "Translate from French to Brunnen-G", which is also a huge problem, since we do need to drag all those side cultury people in. A vocabulary such as this is easy to program, probably, but the only programmer we have is either busy, being lazy, or isn't interested in the project, or all together, because he behaves like "Leave me alone". He proposed us to make a topic and the first post - the vocabulary, so to press Ctrl+F to find the needed word. There isn't any. There is entrance, but not "enter". You'll spend half an hour to find one word, we don't have enough words so one word means about 5 because we don't have synonims yet. So this sucks really bad, it is easyer to find a word by scanning the page, but the voc is quite long... So this option is out too... If you know any other ways which don't involve a whole voc program... And the other problem is putting this on a web page... The lazy guy can do it (bah, he made the whole site and forum), but no one else can... So we need a hosting, but we can't take a Russian one, since it'll slow down for English, and in reverse. I suppose a German hosting will do, so if you know one, or one that is OK for any major country, please tell. And, of course, we need a constructor, because we all such at web-programming. But how are we going to put the voc on there I don't even want to imagine... Sorry for the long post. Yeah, ours is a falling project I guess, unless the damned programmer wakes up...

I wonder why half the dreams are about danger? And I had some dreams that were repeats, after about 5 years, of my former dreams... Dreams are strange, and half the time they don't make sense.

This game needs a very hard rating, if I can cope with it, I'm no good gamer... Speaking of DooM - I never understood the Nightmare myself. They spawn behind you all the time, it's ridiculous. Well, yeah, you can cope with it but it still dumb... I like tutorials, I never get it why people skip them. Half the people who brag about Perimeter being too complex didn't go through it and the rest of the beginning levels too thoughtfully(Easy level).

That would be cool! I recommend playing on Hard right away, otherwise the absence of competition may make it a bit easy and boring... And don't skip the tutorial... I hope you'll find the game... Just finished that core-by-core level, it won't make sense to you know, but they don't tell that soon, just to say that if you build an energy core next to someone else's energy core, turning the shield of your core on will get the enemie's core to you... If he won't get it first, though. And if you get an enemie's core you get the structures his core was powering as well.

My dream right now, which I had moment before, was so out of order... It was a combination of Final Destination in a school, a bit of LEXX a bit of rats and clowns... So, I'm in this school which is the school I always dream but I never had a school like that... And I remember something about bying chocolate donuts or something, and Mark, my classmate, was there buying donats and talking about how fat he is... And 3 crazy things happen in order... First, there is a runoff of water in the bathroom with something electrical in it... Then, someone smokes a cigarrete and makes the library on fire. And third, it's like a gas tank surroinded by a fence, and something (something bizzare) goes through the fence, breaking, and some idiot, who seems to posses pyromancy, starts to fire at the thing, in the end he gets the gas pipe and burns down in blue fire, so does the teacher, he was standing shouting at people... All this happening was surrounding one spot where I moved, quite calmly, until the gas tank broke, but there was nowhere to run, so, I just burned down or something, didn't bother me much. But let me add there... That thing that broke through the fence... It was about collecting... stuff...Oh, something there started with IRC messaging. I messaged the guy who was crazy a bit, and he sent me hentai again, and then I was thinking about how Sinful Discharge (which is a fan mod for Heretic) contains a special snake ingredient for alchemy in Oblivion, so I went there. And it was anythinh but SC. And there was my dad doing something there... Something attacking, but we dealt with it. And speaking of that thing. It moved along the pipe, had to do with "not enough resource". So while it moved, when the pipe ended it was still flying, and broke through the fence. Twice, in fact, the first time the idiot didn't ignite the gas pipe. After that I see a bearded man with his hands spread out and looking funny, and a message "God wishes you luck in the game!" And that figure gets a lightsaber in his right hand... Then I see four pictures. First two I don't remember, but the others looked like a clown and a rat, and I chose the clown, as though I knew something about him. Then I get this neat tiny-font message like the one you see in mission briefings in games. And it says some crazy stuff. "The clown will help you, but you have to please His Shadow by doing more than you can." And His Shadow is some Darth Wader type of insect from LEXX. Below I see modified LEXX storyline or something "Assistant deputy backup courier Stanley Tweedle, a cluster lizard Zev, and Kai have destroyed thr Divine Order and the Gigashadow. They are deadly heretics and have to be eliminated. Your task is to steal some Moths and fly away in them. But it is better to steal the LEXX. And even better to eliminate the Last of the Brunnen-G. May His Merciful Shadow fall upon you. " I click OK, and that is where I wake up...

Downloaded this not so long ago (don't tell me I'm a pirate, you won't buy that game anywhere except internet for $70 or so), can't really drop it now. I hope at least one person here checked it out? It's awesome! I was playing the level after Abdula(damn mortars!) just now, this funny digging level. I replayed it about 5 times before I finaly realized what on earth was I supposed to do. First these guys start digging under me. And I didn't have digging yet, so I had no idea how to deal with them. Built those subterra guns that were supposed to kill subterrainian units, but they don't help much, and I didn't built them the right way, so I ended up with my frame deattached without too much brigadiers(have a habit of making most builders), and by the time I reattached it, they flew away through the portal. Second time I made my units into diggers, because I thought the enemy was digging my base with them. Well, diggers went to their base and had no effect (what are diggers for anyway?). Well, I lost again... Then I made a lot of snipers/gyroids and some r-projectors and attacked the base, but it was so full of turrets that it didn't make sense... At last, instead of upgrading the rocket lab and building the anti-gravity lab, I just upgraded the laser lab to start making unfammiliar Scummers, who turned out the things the enemy was actually sending on me... So I made them, sent them, but they had a lot of subterra guns, so I didn't do much but disattach their frame, though their spiral level recharges fast and they still managed to go... But, finaly, the last time, I made two groups of Officers-technicians and put one group of scummers to attack and the other to recharge while the scummers died (I can only have about 15 scummers properly up to the pop limit). Poor Harkback http://img284.imageshack.us/my.php?image=n...mapimage5hf.jpg And I finished that in 15 minutes, though the conditions forced me, their spiral was charged 93% just before I charged up mine (they still deattached it once)... Funny how they kept attacking me with wagon tanks, I had tons of energy, just turned the energy core shield on an off while they were shooting at my subterras... If you didn't play this game but you like StarCraft a bit, I highly recommend to download it and at least try it. Though don't get me wrong, it's not a StarCraft clone at all (terraforming, perimeters, digging, morphing, attack restrictions...) and it is pretty much one-civ based, though I wish I had a legal version so I can go multiplayer... And it's pretty complicated, if you go into battle before campain, you are done for... But I have to finish the campain first, got no clue what to do with all those abyss devices, for instance... Or core-by-core conquests, the next level is all about that... Shame battle AI is not very good, though 2 vs 1 will be OK probably.

OK, this is not midi related, but I didn't want to create another topic... Does anyone know a free self-made vocabulary? By self-made I mean where you can put in words in a nonexistent language and then point out what they mean, and with a search system, of course. Like a regular vocabulary, but with your own words, because if we leave all those words as a list like we have now... Spend hours on trying to find the right translation... The language we are using doesn't exist, it's isn't just a rare-use language or something. Well, that's what I need. I don't need anything extraordinary, just a fill-yourself dictionary. Like you can do something like that in Lingvo, but it's not free, and we need a free one so that all users can use it, otherwise I'll be OK with Lingvo 'cause I have it...

Looks like *Diary* is saving, because that's all there is there... Found some mushrooms... "mmmm" and then from some other the screen changed color back and forth... Squashed some thingy also. A scelet or something. Is there EXP in the game, does it make sense to go squashing things? "Ultima Underworld" - they made Arx Fatalis based on that one, didn't they? That company that makes DM now? They reffered to Scythian Abyss too... Didn't get to the music yet. Playing at day, have to watch out so no one sees me moving a pack of pixels in a window...

Well, looks like it works... Just loaded and all. Talked to some guy, then went to see how the Lady got someone's head chopped off... And my guy doesn't have a clue of what the dark zone did he forget here... Can you pick up stuff? I can only click on them to see their names, but not do anything. Is the save automatic?

I downloaded Ultima from somewhere, I'm not sure it is a full version, but I can't play it. I unpacked it, it has U8.exe, Install.exe; I loaded Install, and it says I have not enough space on my computer, but then I have a choice whether to install or not. When I install, nothing happens. Playing U8.exe doesn't help either... Done with DosBox and without it.

I never managed to load heXen in DosBox without slowdown, and I raised frameskip and all, does not help. Heretic works, heXen doesn't, but I have jDooM anyway or DooMsday. And I played heXen DosBoxed way before I even knew what Yamaha is. Also, I was playing heXen on a laptop. Because only jDooM works there, DooMsday crashes to desktop all the time. Ultima... I heard about them. They are space games or something? Or am I confusing with Elite? Also, did you play Space Rangers? It's old, too, I wonder if I want to try it out, some guy seemed to be like crazy about them. I didn't really worry about Heretic/heXen music much, I just had the midi and that is all. But the thing was, I always wanted to get one heXen II soundtrack, but I had no CD, so the music was in .mid files I don't know where and I always wanted to get the midi (didn't care about format). And when I finaly found the .mp3, I was astonished by the quality compared to the old midi. And Heretic has that same soundtrack, slightly modified. With Yamaha, it sounds much closer to the heXen II .mp3, maybe even bettter, with the exception of the chorus, either Yamaha doesn't worry of those a lot, either Kevin Schilder messed up and put only two varitations named "ahh" and "ohh", which don't blend into each other well... Anyway, there is a difference, I don't know what synthezators you have, but if you don't have any advanced ones, heXen II sounds a lot better. At least, it did, before I put Yamaha up. Even after that I didn't care much, but then IXBT guys started praizing heXen (first one, in fact) music, as always, and I asked about converting .mid to .mp3. They said - midi rules with a good sound card and sounds better now because there are sound cards better now with synthesators... What is it with your forum and .rar files? I tried to upload something and couldn't! "Hexen is another, but the music isn't that great in the first place." - Well, am I a heXen fan or not? EDIT: I found a file that is called 052_Florestan_Ahh_Choir.sf2, seems like something I need, now I have to figure out how to put into my Yamaha. Just downloaded Ultima 8, looks interesting on screens.

Oh no. I don't have a Sound Blaster... It's my DosBox heXen that thinks I have one... I guess that's why it slows down so much. Sorry. I didn't look at my Control Panel first... Thanks for all the information you gave here, it's more than enough. I'll guess I'll read some of the material on those sites, becuse whatever YAMAHA I have, it doesn't seem to know what a SoundFont is.

Thanks for your reply! Well, I meant decent sound cards, not the built-in ones... Yes, I have a sound blaster. I'll look into it. Regarding those files - my Yamaha gives little options, and even if I get any of those files, I'm not sure I know where they go...

I enjoyed DooM 3 more then HL2, HL2 is boring... HL1 was much better... The spawning was annoying in DooM1-2, DooM3 is OK compared to them.

Well, I am playing Heretic and heXen a long, long time ago... These games are very old and have .mid music files instead of .wav or .mp3, and on my computer, the music quality is not the very best. A few people from IXBT insist that since .mid is not really music, but more of commands how to play music, therefore midi quality depends on the synthesizer of your sound card, and they say that midi on their computers sounds better than .mp3 CD music. I don't have a sound card, and I wonder if that is true? I asked them for a midi to other formats converter, and they recomended YAMAHA XG SoftSynthesizer S-YXG50. This program, though, doesn't convert midi, but plays any midi on your computer differently. After I loaded it up, the music changed a lot. Mostly to the good side, it became a lot cleaner, not like some low-quality music, but the chorus, on the other hand, became worse for some reason... I still wonder if I can do anything to that and whether or not buy a good sound card next year. So, if anyone knows anything about the quality of midi music and how to make it better, if someone knows any free programs... Is there something in game graphics that isn't a trick?

There is a chance that they calculate it will work on some PC (like DooM 3 when it was developed - there wasn't powerful enough card yet) later. I'm not saying they are lying, I'm just saying that PO is pretty far away, we can't tell, but I don't know what kind of PC you need to support all those polygons and particles and whatever.

Well, your question was how do they make it realtime, and my answer is that they are either making it up and pre-rendering it, either they have the next generation PC...

I see. But I think it's possible in very-well optimised programs, not sure about games themselves, but in many 3D-programs you can make a video with a huge amount of polygons by rendering it for a couple of days. I don't think that they have a computer that can run it in realtime yet, or maybe they have the best PC available, but if they do have such a PC, we have nothing to worry about. But I think it's the program.
