    I can help

Well, looks like I'll definitely get away with this one seeing as the year is fast drawing to a close. God, I've never won anything in my entire life. Ah, Springheel... did you get a chance to listen to the stuff I sent you? I really need to know if the sound was alright.

I just wanted to do a generic type first. My wife loathes microphones.

I can give you a link to what I've got so far if you want. See if it will do. Got all the idle comments cut and stored in a folder. I think I've named them properly, but I've appended letters alphabetically at the end so I can easily and conveniently update the voicepack with more alternatives and other versions later. But they are easily renamed by simply deleting that one letter.

Blast! I took the .ogg route. Oh, well... I'll get it done, don't worry.

Work has progressed rather smoothly on a civilian voiceset, one with an english sounding accent. It will probably be ready by tomorrow. Damn it's a lot of work. Respect to everyone working on this, it's incredible what you've accomplished.

You know what? You're absolutely right. I had a very specific idea where it might have worked, but I'm not that could at DR yet... and will possibly never be. But it's there if anyone wants it, and if nothing else it might serve as an inspirational piece. Now I'm fresh out for the time being. Thanks for listening.

More ambience: http://oceanarts.net/Downloads/Special/tdm/audio/HallOfLostHopes.mp3 I'm going to add a version without the crying too, because it occured to me that that could be added if desired separately anyway.
  8. I think it's great that the old and the new can exist side by side. They're equally valid in my opinion. It's just a matter of what kind of canvas you'd like to paint this particular idea upon. I'd rather see an improved and easier to handle editor that an improved engine really. Often constraints are freeing in art.

Thank you. I used to work with Cakewalk for a long time, but now I use FL studio along with Omnisphere. My wife got me the life saving Zoom H2 recorder for our wedding, and I constantly run around with it and record stuff. Electric guitars, an old keyboard. It's amazing what the human voice can do. A lot of other stuff too, but that's the most important bits and pieces.

I'll try to get a complete voiceset done soon. Sadly, I'm a little limited as I live in an apartment building with lots of noisy people. I did the ones above rather hastly when it was reasonably quiet.

Here is some ambience: http://oceanarts.net/Downloads/Special/tdm/audio/Forgotten_Places.mp3 My site is down at the moment and have been for some time, but I'll add a "Thief" related category to the Downloads section as soon as I get it up and running again.

Thanks guys. And thanks to Noisycricket for the tip, I'm not sure I have any more "coolness" in me but I'll try. I'm working on some ambient tracks right now actually.

Here are some samples of my voice acting, and a custom mission_complete thing. If I can help with voices, music, sound design etc. I'd be happy to. I couldn't upload all I had intended. (The thief is improvised and pays homage to Star Trek and Tori Amos (Dew drop Inn)) ThiefSample.mp3 mission_complete.mp3 shortsample.mp3 commoner1sample.mp3
  15. You were right. I was wondering what that _ns ending meant. Funny how much richer one feels after learning something new. Thank you, Serpentine.
  16. Yes, I did. My head don't wrap very well, that's true. But I observed that all sound travelled through a hole in the roof without the visportal in place, but with it there only the sound of the AIs managed to leak through. So, it obviously has a stronger effect on some sounds.
  17. I just noticed that my visportals do not supress the sounds that AIs make, but every other noise is masked out just fine. And it is not just where the walls are thin either. What am I doing wrong here?
  18. This brings up a burning question for me: is there a light absorbing texture by any chance? I have a rather thin wall (not too thin imo, 1 grid unit at a setting of 8), and light seeps through it. It'd be great with an invisible non-solid light absorbing brush to cover it with.
  19. I'm not sure how to decipher what r_showtris tells me. I've tried gridsnapping, caulking and replacement, it's still there. I'm going try and rebuild the scene and see if it happens again. EDIT: I managed to reproduce the lines. It was a poorly placed light source. A lantern, but light sources are portable so there's no guarantee noone will ever see them.
  20. What do you supposed these lines could be? I've tried moving things around, but they won't disappear. It's not too big of a deal, I'm just wondering what the reason might be.
  21. Your english is good. I'm sorry I can't help you. I'm a beginner at this Dark Radiant racket, just thought I'd pop in and have a go at helping out. A little prematurely it would seem.
  22. Not sure what you mean exactly, but couldn't you just choose "Create Light" from the the pop-up menu that appears when you right click the grid?
  23. I agree. And it is not my intention to question the settings the developers of TDM have deemed appropriate. But in some instances it might important (at least I think so) for the telling of the story to modify the defaults to some degree.
  24. Some lights seem to have those nifty click and drag outlines, though. Why not all of them? How would one go about contacting the developers?
