  1. No. I undoed until the error stopped and it was when a testAI disappeared in the undo-pressing that the crashing ceased... Don't know what failed that guy. But then I redoed everything ctrl+y and deleted him and it's back on track
  2. A good way into paths and RIT:s. Too bad something is wrong and Doom crashes on me when I try to start my map...always fun to backtrack and remove stuff til it works/the error is found...*sarc*

      There are clusters of path_nodes in my current mission...Over 50 placed AI...

  4. Situation report from the contestants? Sotha and Jesps are done and released. If everything goes as planned, my beast will hit beta at the end of june. Anymore testers than Obsttorte wanna give it a try? How is the skyboxeses going PranQster?

  7. Too bad PranQster...but it sound like an interresting mission though I've just compiled a long list of things I need to finish before Beta. It will be a bit ugly in some places but it's more important to get a functional map, albeit maybe a bit dull in some places...It's a lot to test and I believe a month should do, before dead line...And I have a smaller list with stuff that I'l start working on as soon as the mission hits Beta...things that will remove the dull parts and improve an otherwise exellent mission

      I thought FS were part of collision model, not pathfinding? Did you convert it, Obs?

      Yep. The cm is also crated during dmapping.

  12. Yes, as soon as a small part of a func_static is seen, the whole thing is rendered. A good thing to know when designing rooflines as you said as the func_static is seen through the caulc
  13. When working with sky portals I've discovered that the engine renders all caulc as sky portal IF there is at least one face with the Sky portal texture in the same leaf/location as you're currently in. And caulc surfaces doesn't generate tris as one may see with r_showtris 1. Therefore you don't need to paint the whole "ceiling" with skyportal, you just need a small caulc box in the air with one side sky portal, one box "here and there".

      And as light shines through caulk, one could use this for some nice effects.

      I've put lights in the void before but then I automatically wrapped them with caulc walls to make a little house for the light, a light house :)

  18. It usually results in some careful ctrl+z ctrl+y to get back to where I know things are as they should and then a backup of the map

  20. Yeah, undo is the trick but sometimes stuff disappears for no apparent reason when moved long distances
  21. Noticed a strange error; Sometimes when I copy entities/brushes and move them in DR, they just disappear... Some time ago I read a post (I think it was Grayman) about an error creating brushes in DR. You have nothing seleced and just use LMB to create a brush but nothing is created. For the record, I've experenced this bug also... Someone else experienced this?
  22. It's not necessary to restrict oneself to just one grid size. Different architecture erquires different sizes. But as the mappers release their work, you will be able to collect all modules in one big repository
  23. Haven't finished it yet but once again a nice map by the finlandier himself! It's almost as if you could smell/taste the rot and dirt in that place. I feel disencouraged to keep on mapping when I see such beautiful and musty environments. My maps look crap in comparison! Thumbs up for Sotha!

  25. No, it's clean...but the beige brick wall has a grime texture at the bottom...shall test without the grime...
