  1. Hurricane Florence is knocking on our door. She's due Thursday evening. Atm it's a direct hit. Ouchie!

  2. Back to fixing bugs for a little while. A whole day to find a tiny little missing 'else' statement. Gotta love it.

Glad somebody finally found it! :)

  3. In related news, a shadowy figure was spotted lurking outside the church. https://www.wral.com/investigation-into-weeping-virgin-mary-statue-continues/17702476/ The City Watch is investigating.

Olive oil is good for cleaning bronzes, maybe some was left over after such a clean.

  6. Quickest way to test all the RIT your WIP AI are doing? Set "timescale N", where N>1. Hilarity ensues. Little tippy-tapping feetie sounds as they scurry around your map are certain to put a smile on your face.

I just can't believe they'd base a movie off the most gutted version of the series in the franchise.

  8. Out walking the dog at dawn this morning. Light-sensitive streetlight at the end of the street decides it can turn itself off. House, cars, and street near the light disappear in the dark. My first thought: a visportal closed.

Haha! That's why at work I try to avoid putting coders in an open-plan office. Sketch out your plan on a piece of paper first and cross out stuff you've done is my only advice. It helps when trying to pick up the thread.

Just don't move any of the objectives when you're done... ;)

  10. Another silly sign: A restaurant near us has a sign that tells you when they're open. Unfortunately, it's an electric sign and when the restaurant's closed, the sign is turned off. So if you pull up off-hours to see when you can go there to eat, the sign is off and you can't read it.

      161803398874989

Oh yeah. That's when your wife asks you to leave the warmth and comfort of the car to get up close to the sign. Typically in a bad neighborhood endangering both your health and safety...

  15. From the Master Foundry's review of "Thief" (http://themasterfoundry.com/thief-revew/): "I’ve played better fan missions than Thief, I’ve played better Thief games than Thief, I’ve even played better Thief-inspired games than Thief. The Dark Mod alone is miles ahead of almost anything you’ll find here, and it’s completely free. So please make sure to give that a try before even considering giving Eidos Montreal your hard-earned money."

Just be happy you have a sound system that works properly, unlike us Linux users. So, Windows boots and *then* you get the black screen? I was first wondering if secure boot got messed up. Some apps like LoJack change the MBR. I wonder what happens if a user installs LJ on a new W8 machine with secure boot enabled?

Black Screen of Death is where the screen is black, the cursor works, and nothing is displayed. Has something to do with Win 8 putting the machine into a state where graphics can't paint the whole screen. Got out of it by accident, and it's been fine since.
