  1. Disable Soft Shadows and set r_useGLSL 0 along with r_useFBO 0 in the console.

This may help; disabling soft shadows and setting GLSL to 0 did it, FBO played no part in the problem, although I'm now having the entire key and prop de-render as I look away, not just it's lighting.

Doesn't seem to be happening to the chains?

Edit: Nevermind, it's happening to the chains, too.

  2.

Happens with enhanced ambient and with "r_useGLSL 1" only.

This is clearly the behavior of the new ambientInteraction.fs.

I did not manage to find where this shader was ported from.

BTW, this does not look like gamma correction:

    color.rgb *= 1 + u_gamma*(1 - dot(color.rgb, vec3(1./3)));

P.S. Anyway, report this bug to issue tracker.

So is there a console command or some kind of quick fix I can use to deal with this? Was hoping to record this mission but it'll have to be on hold if it'll look bad.

  3. I distinctly remember playing on 2.05 and it didn't happen.

Those chains blinking out of sight definitely seems like a problem. Have you tested the same area in 2.05 to make sure it doesn't happen there too?

Oh fun. That's obviously a problem. Does it impact other player animations as well, like melee attacks?

I just realized I did update my graphics drivers since then, this may be an issue with AMD software?

  5.

What is the issue? The keys are too bright?

    Glowing bright white, yes.

It doesn't seem to be an issue with "bright" so much as contrast, maybe? Not sure, either way the colors seem to go back to normal as I see them on the edges of the screen, something I demonstrate in the video.

  6. But this is just restricted to 10S. And you can even upgrade it (not sure what the price difference between 10S and 10Pro is, but if this is equal to the upgrade cost, I see no problem), so you can use all functions. As far as I understand 10S is a cheaper version meant for systems that do not need all functions of an OS. For example, if the computer is only meant to control a specific machine, it is better to have a smaller OS version with limited functions, that still does what it should and costs only a fraction of the full OS. I really do not understand the outrage. If all Windows versions would look like this, this would be a problem, but this is a smaller OS for limited use.

Because the alternative is having to learn to use Linux, which as we all know isn't exactly great if you're

    • Looking to play many games on your computer without at least half an hour of configuration for everything you play.
    • Don't have time or mental endurance to learn an entirely new operating system.

  7. Thanks to esme for making this mission possible to record with his helpful hint.

This mission evoked similar feelings to Phantom Pain, I can see the rough edges of it's developmental history and I love the concept, making the few visible signs of it's history all the more annoying.

All in all, better than the first Thief's Den, equal to the second, a step down from the third.

I will solve all you create and touch, Sotha.

Your beautiful machinations will not be forgotten, Fidcal, and neither shall your touch.

Feel free to come back some day, I'll be waiting.

  8.

Another explanation for the boop sound might be that you have carried over your Darkmod.cfg from previous runs, and the following cvar is set in Darkmod.cfg:

    seta s_playDefaultSound "1"
2.06 now comes with that cvar turned off by default.
If you find it on, turn it off.
    Retest.

Updated to newest build, set playDefaultSound to 0.

    Boop is gone, thanks!
