  1. Testing how feasible no kill runs are of this game, the first mission in particular being really, really tight about it. I wouldn't really suggest playing like this on authentic difficulty since you can't save, and generally speaking there's just a few too many randomized factors at play. As well, relying on the camera without spotting to see where guards are would be absolute hell. I can safely say I've never seen a game reflect the hopelessness of a zombie apocalypse like this one does on hardest settings. Edit: Videos published, and removed from thread
  2. Seeing Google become a trash fire due to a single (fairly well worded, cited and very centrist, pro-diversity memo) has not assuaged any of the fears this thread has given me.
  3. Agreed, and moving on I can safely say that the point of the video is to provide a sort of summary as to why, how and what the problems were for people who Don't read articles that can tell them as much. Aren't smart enough to decipher it for themselves. As much as you may or may not like it Plinkett's review style deep analysis of entertainment is going to be the future in terms of information dispersal, if only because it reaches more people than any other method. As a result, videos like that which directly compare and contrast how Thief 4 didn't do things as well as Thief Gold/2 are some of the best short hand to toss to a friend when explaining why they should buy the (better and cheaper) classics.
  4. I'm going to assume you don't understand the satire or this isn't sarcasm and aren't triggered by homosexual remarks, if only for the sake of discussion. The video is a criticism of Thief 4. The ending mocks the demographic that might actually be playing the game, the "lowest common denominator" if you will. This is small children with a massive inability to feel important that buy games and yell on microphones about how great their performance at said games are. These children often use that as an insult online. I would know, I've been told by many children to suck dick, and have had my sexuality (and my mother's sexuality!) stated in an insulting fashion by children such as these on numerous occasion! Luckily, the video is mocking these children and not advocating that you or anyone suck dick, as it would be improper to do so in a legitimate manner. If you'd like, I can let my friend who voiced the sound effects and the bit at the end of the video know that he truly impacted someone in life because of how good his acting was! I'm fairly sure he will love being told he was able to pull off the voice of "a 12 year old with the wisdom of a mentally challenged 8 year old negro." I would say "I hope explaining the joke has made the video funny" but that's not how humor works. Either way, good luck with your medication, your post makes me wonder if you may need to take it more often or in higher doses, even if only because you seem oddly obsessed with dark skinned individuals.
  5. On the topic of the dresser, I don't think you understand that the logic born of the issue is that I drop the book over the dresser... But don't actually drop it, lest it make noise. Wait for the man to leave, close the door behind him and truly drop it before proceeding with the mission.
  6. The yard needs the performance. Sucks, I know, but the framerate even optimized isn't great. The lobby needs a very, very slight nerf in difficulty. Not much but the possibility that you could waste just two or so too many water arrows to a light that the guard can immediately attempt to relight is just too dangerous as far as risk to allow. Aside from that the landing is hell. If you were designing it to be ghosted, it means a long, long observation to realize you effectively have to follow the guard patrolling it. Landing is bright and tight, which when combined with the lock to pick and the guards below possibly sighting you is just too many factors. This is all made harder to work through and understand given the guards will spot the door to the landing left open. The fact that there is a spider in the area it is ends up looking ridiculous. Either I'm sending the steward down to kill or die to it, or Crowley domesticated a spider. Both of these are equally comedic and clash with the tone. Finally, I found two glitches that need fixing. The spider, when rounding the corner, will clip into the ground a bit mid-walk. As well, you can uncheck the private diary objective: if the book isn't on the dresser you won't be able to finish the mission, even if everything else is done.Everything else in this mission is good, especially the kitchen, which is so perfect in terms of difficulty I'm enjoying simply thinking about it. The aesthetic is spot on and the sense of slowly building up just how vile Crowley is ends up being done solidly. Also kudos on the steward's conversation with the player. It feels very naturally written in terms of dialogue. Big, big kudos to you on the VA work, it's some of the best I've heard. 400/10 mission, I hope to critique more missions in such a clearly non-biased manner in the future. Oh and this is the funniest message I've read in a while.
  7. In memory of that guy who tried so hard and got so hard, but in the end didn't really matter.
  8. Oh it fits but it's in the mission as a note. Thankfully we figured this out in DM's, but I'm placing this here for posterity and because I find it legitimately kind of funny.
  9. I can link one of the other saves if it helps any.
  10. It's a nice alternative in terms of gameplay, but it will never match the atmosphere and narrative of the original thing.
  11. Ah, yeah, watching videos on one monitor while playing on another. As an aside if there's ever an update, I'd like my name removed from that note. I'm super flattered, but I'm not a fan of fourth wall breaking so I'd like to keep my credit to the forum post if it's all the same, anonymity suits me just fine.
  12. Need help. Not sure if bugged or what, can't pick lock and none of the keys work.
  13. Can verify, it worked at a friends house who was still on the previous versions of TDM. This is not map-based.
  14. Yep. Did a clean install, and couldn't frob it then either. Something is definitely happening. Other than this, I had an issue with Penny Dreadful 2 on two separate occasions with two separate pieces of loot.
  15. Previously I had two separate issues on Penny Dreadful 2. Now it happened on The Creeps Going to try a clean install after you all have the chance to download the save. https://www.dropbox.com/s/tesjnw71mpmn2uh/cant%20frob%20the%20creeps.zip?dl=0
  16. 30 years ago today stealth as we know it was started. Happy birthday, Metal Gear. Anybody have a favorite entry, gripes or observations?
  17. I made an entire video to emphasize the major failing of Thief 4: a compelte and total lack of immersion. The major failing of Thief 4 is that instead of being even remotely notable, it's largely just vanilla garbage that was rushed out the door (some cutscenes are flat out missing audio for some things) and ends up just feeling like a Dishonored knockoff with massive limitations.
  18. I don't recommend using this in a mission unless you are either sadistic or incredibly good at balancing patrol patterns. Simply put, playing Far Cry 2 and seeing Pathologic's mindset I realized there was a concept for a mission the player could have forced on them to enforce a time limit. Medicine puts off an inevitable death that will only be truly removed when one finds the cure objective. This will force the player to sneak more aggressively than they're used to, and is a concept worth exploring, not to mention plays very well into the difficulty modes. Needless to say I think the moral grey in this concept is also something that will really excite the narrative-bent of us in the community, since it is a literal survival and economic scarcity bent angle pushed to the logical extreme. This is the survival mindset of a thief taken to the logical conclusion. It would also play well enough into the world, as I've seen plenty of notices of plagues and the like.
  19. I actually wanted to be a journalist when I was in high school but between CNN, Gawker and the media's general behavior over the last decade you can understand why that has all but vanished.
  20. This has changed angles a bit from where I started so I just want it on record: I don't think companies should be DOXing or threatening to DOX people period, that should be a law enforcement affair, if that.
  21. Yeah. I wouldn't mind this much but the fact that they're doing this over a GIF by a 15 year old when they've visibly done far, far less over genuine criminal behavior is really damning, and that's ignoring the basic act of doxing a guy under the guise of journalism.
  22. To quote CNN's own twitter Exclusive: CNN tracked down the Reddit user behind the Trump wrestling GIF. Now he's apologizing. https://twitter.com/CNN/status/882410884445999105 Currently #CNNblackmail is higher than July the 4th on the USA Twitter trends. As quoted from CNN (thanks jaxa) Don't fall for the deceptive word play. CNN "reaches out" to Solo Solo posted apology Solo replied to CNNOther coverage below http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/jul/5/cnn-threatens-reveal-reddit-user-real-identity-ove/ http://www.dailywire.com/news/18259/thug-journalism-cnn-threatens-reveal-identity-ben-shapiro I haven't respected them since a bit before the last election, but this is a new low to say the least.
  23. New frobbing bug, can't frob a money pouch in the first second story floor after the gatehouse. I have a save this time, where do I put that to see this fixed?
