SSDs give enormous boost in performance, but I don't see them replacing HDDs for quite some time. There's just way too much data everywhere. Heh, my 1st PC, PC XT with 10MB drive. I wanted a tower PC so I turned it on its side. Looked way cool until our cat jumped on it, crashing it off the table... No more XT

SSD prices have stopped dropping due to challenges w/ shrinking the memory. Memristors, crossbar ReRAM or a similar tech could take over where NAND leaves off with superior characteristics.
