  1. Legal issues and hard work aside, I don't see the point to making such a remake anyway. It's just going to be Thief Gold but with better graphics and Dark Mod mechanics. Surely something more interesting can be made if you're willing to dedicate so much work, like the Crucible of Omens campaign for instance.
  2. I bring bad news, Lady Rowena has died. A shame, as she seemed like a talented author. May her children cope well with this.

Sad news indeed. Lady Rowena will live on and always be remembered in my and the Taffers' hearts with her immortal work for the Thief community.

  3. It's finally out! Download here: http://www.moddb.com/mods/gmdx/downloads/gmdx-v80-full If you enjoyed it, feel free to vote for it in the ModDB awards. But hurry, it's only 2 days before the second nomination closes.
  4. 2 years is not a short time in the world of Thief fan missions though, and if I remember right he became much more silent after 2013. So it's a surprise to see he's still releasing missions.
  5. Some here may know that TTLG is holding the 72 hour contest. Among those, one entry "Vanishing Point" has a style too similar to Rocksbourg. After having watched Fen Phoenix's video, I have to say it definitely looks like DrK's work. It's a bit surprising, but it's still good to see him back!
  6. Last video, covering difficulty settings and miscellaneous changes:
  7. The release of this mod got delayed to 20th December unfortunately because of a lack of testers, but there's a cool new feature shown: Feel free to send a PM on ModDB if you want to betatest. https://www.systemshock.org/index.php?topic=6393.msg94401#msg94401
  8. Fine, I'm going to betatest this, you've convinced me. Where will the betatesting be done? I presume on a semi private thread on this forum.
  9. Since it's you who's saying this, alright I will test it! But don't expect much from me.
  10. So this is finally coming out. Good to hear. Sadly I don't think I am a good enough Dark Mod player to test this well, else I would have volunteered. Good luck anyway!
  11. Part 7 is out, and it's about audio design and user interface:
  12. New video got delayed so here's a showcase of a new feature:
  13. Personally, all I'm going to say is that I'm glad the Dark Mod has content managers who do their job. Too many mods often die out or end up being subpar because they don't have any proper management of time, content or such. Regarding custom models, people are free to make any models they want. However, it makes sense not to place them in the core if they don't fit in with Dark Mod's other assets. I would suggest that for such models, they could be placed under a miscellaneous category and be picked from there. Something like the Thief Object Repository for Dark Mod objects would be good too, if someone could maintain it well enough. Thief Object Repository: http://www.spirited-tech.com/thief/
  14. New video, this time covering added level design and graphical enhancements:
  15. The reason seems to be this post: http://www.offtopicproductions.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=112776#p112776
  16. A small detail, but there's a new animation for the greasel's jumping attack. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkWvNUlvxk0&feature=youtu.be Also I think Bikerdude should see this. This is an overhaul that he will like, inspite of being disappointed with Revision. Especially since it focuses on an area Revision didn't focus on, and instead implemented another mod to do it (Human Renovation).
  17. The next video got delayed, so here's a list of AI features: http://genericname112.wix.com/gmdx#!artificial-intelligence/c8ao
  18. I guess I'm going to be the major detractor of this mission than, or more specifically its writing. It's true indeed that the mission's premise is somewhat unique, and it does set an oppressive atmosphere in some scenes, particularly the one in the foundry. However, I found the writing to be very hammy about its message. I get that you want to point out that the character is doing something wrong by stealing, but you don't need to hammer it in by repeating it in three readables. Furthermore, the scenes themselves end up being a bit silly or dull for the sake of some gameplay/story decisions, like the pointless long corridor in the foundry, or the absurd amount of wealth lying around in an inventor's house. I think with some restraint and subtlety in the writing, this would have been a much better mission. The gameplay could be polished up a bit more too, but this mission wasn't gameplay centric anyway so it isn't that important.
  19. New video is out: Still looking good.
  20. GMDX is a mod I've been following for a while, and they announced their release date recently. They will upload a bunch of videos in the follow up to the release. So far, they've uploaded 3 videos, and it's shaping up to be great. Let's hope it lives upto the expectations set. Videos:
  21. So you're saying I have to go into Darkmod, open up its console and type those commands to work? If they are Darkmod only, then it would explain my problem, as I was typing them into Dark Radiant's console. Anyway, why didn't the tutorial make this clear?
  22. Testmap and map commands are mentioned in Fidcal's tutorial: http://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=A_-_Z_Beginner_Full_Guide_Start_Here%21 Anyway, what possible reason could be for the testmap and map commands not to be recognized?
  23. So I was trying out Darkradiant, and while following the tutorial everything went fine until I tried to use the "map" and "testmap" commands. Both commands are considered invalid with the Darkradiant installation I have. What could be the reason? The "dmap" command worked fine though, and I used it before trying to use the "testmap" and "map" commands.
  24. But from what I'm seeing, Revision is like redrawing a Picasso piece according to someone else's style and standards, hence some places have changed layouts and there's a lot of liberties taken with the artstyle. If they really only wanted to make the original smoother and technically better looking they should have made something like SCP: https://www.systemshock.org/index.php?topic=7116.0 . As for changing the blocky arches to actual ones, it would be welcome but I'm sure it would require redoing the geometry allowed by the engine. There are ways to get complex looking architecture in the Dark engine but from what I've seen no fan mission so far has had perfectly curved arches, only approximations of those.
