  1. @STRUNK, @grayman, I think I figured it out after some more experimenting... turns out my towers were worldspawn, and apparently when a speaker is embedded within a brush it behaves in this peculiar way. Learn something new every day I guess ^^
  2. That was my first thought too and I looked through it quite thoroughly I would say, but seeing as the sound is penetrating through several closed VPs that can't be the case. Also if there was a leak my performance would be terrible as that would mean more than half of the city was rendering at once. Then I landed on the suspicion that it could be something in the sound shader for that sound forcing it to be s_omni or something but that's not the case either. Now I'm frustrated and completely out of ideas... I suppose if there is no solution it can just be a silent clock tower, but I like making a sound in the background.
  3. Unfortunately adding "s_occlusion" "0" didn't change the sound from going straight through everything The "no_dups" thing could be quite useful for certain situations though, thanks for that info ^^
  4. No it doesn't have that keyword, but the problem is not that there are double sounds, if so I could simply delete one. The problem is that the sound travels through all visportals and caulk seals. I have no idea what would cause this, or how to change it.
  5. I'm now at a stage where most of my work is done on my map and I'm mostly hunting down known bugs before beta. There are a few that have been a thorn in my side for a while now... I'll take them one at a time so it doesn't get confusing. First one is as follows. I have two clocktowers in my map, but to the player they seem to be only one. They are right next to eachother in two different vis-leafs. For performance reasons I can't have a single tower that connects two rather large areas with VPs. Anyway both towers use the sound "clock_tick01_loop" that the player can hear from street level. The problem is that this speaker seems to ignore vis-leafs entirely so both clocks are heard, and even indoors in places where it should not reach. I've tried setting "s_global 0" and "s_omni 0" but neither have any effect. Is there a spawnarg I can use? Or do I need to make some kind of custom sound shader? Is there some other bug I might be missing? It's definitely not a VP leak, I checked that quite thoroughly.
  6. This. I can't promise to be able to dedicate loads of time but I'd certainly give it a run through once or twice!
  7. As an avid ghoster I do very much appreciate the stealth system we have in place at the moment. I think the increasing score system is fine, it might be a bit confusing the first time you play but you get the hang of it quickly. It's only on the end screen anyway where you have to consciously click to see the breakdown. I think the name stealth score is fine, because any word that's the opposite of stealth sounds more like an insult to the player than anything else honestly ^^ I do kind vibe with the par system, I almost wish we had a metric for each map somewhere in the menu system (or even just in the endgame screen) that shows for example your stealth score and then what "par" is, as in a number that the average player would expect to see. That's the only thing I think that is missing from our stealth score system atm, you don't really have anything to compare it to, since the maps vary so wildly it can be hard to tell if it's a good score or not. Personally only a 0 satisfies me but I'm probably in the minority on that one.
  8. Congrats! I know the feeling.. though I am on ADSL at the moment as well. I wish I lived on the countryside so I could get actual 100/1000 mbit fiber. Here in Sweden the more rural you are the better options you have for internet connection, go figure.
  9. I was having a problem with my .cfg file as well. Though this was on 2.07... Dragofer asked me to upload it here so it can be dissected. Every time I loaded up a mission my computer would momentarily lose power and restart. Deleting this cfg solved the issue. Very strange.
  10. Same for me on every map I tried, though I was using x64. Annoying cause it's so bright both the red and green.
  11. Sotha's TP0: Mandrasola has a pretty memorable and funny conversation, all of Goldwells missions as well (monologue at the start of Accountant 2 I think it is, that's definitely a favorite!). A few of Springheel's missions have conversations, A New Job, A Score to Settle and A Reputation to Uphold come to mind. As for myself, I have some pretty mediocre one-liners in Pearls & Swine, and my GF did a pretty good job in Langhorne Lodge. The main hindrance in my mind is that you have to contract help from other people to be able to effectively add custom conversations so that adds a lot of complexity and workload, but also requires that I reach out which is not my strong side. Bit of a lone wolf when it comes to mapping, but I guess things could change in future.
  12. Glad you enjoyed it, and that it had the intended effect!
  13. My horror mission Langhorne Lodge has rain throughout the mission, though it doesn't have the fancy window effect you saw in Thieves and Heirs I think you will find that the atmospheric sound is still quite nice when you are close to the windows. The creepy ambient helps to build it further imo, give it a shot
  14. I'm glad you enjoyed it! The spoiler tag is used by putting [ spoiler ] (without spaces) in front of what you want to hide and [ /spoiler ] (without spaces) at the end. Always interested to hear more in depth commentary! CoS3 is almost all there, though there are some time consuming parts left that I have to get to. Still hoping for an early summer release.
  15. I would say that the Thief/Skyrim way of doing is more amenable to reading long documents as the game is actually paused and you are safe to read at your preferred pace. On the other hand one of the great things about TDM readables is that there is quite often some tension involved as a guard could come bursting in to the room at any moment catching you with your spectacles on. I do feel like keeping the readables relatively brief in TDM is a good thing though, especially static ones. That's not to say that a well written book couldn't be enjoyable to read in TDM, provided it goes in to the inventory and there is a nice, safe place to read it. In front of a roaring fireplace or on a bench in the night with the sounds of the city as atmosphere.
  16. These will come in very handy, covered furniture provides a lot of ambiance/atmosphere. Thanks for putting in the work!
  17. Agreed, that is a great idea. Probably lots of people will be in need of quality gaming material, and we might even be able to reach a new audience. We'll definitely need a theme and timeframe I would think though.
  18. Welcome to the forums! That would be a cool addition for those who like to do Ironman-type challenges. I once toyed with the idea of making one of the difficulties non-loadable from saves to force an ironman scenario, but decided against it. As far as how complicated this particular feature would be to implement, I have no idea, but if it's easy enough I say we should go for it!
  19. Yay! Had a blast beta testing this, I'm sure players will enjoy this one a lot as well!
  20. I would be glad to return the favor! If I'm not mistaken you have beta tested all of my missions!
  21. Yeah that glitch is annoying and seems to happen consistently when an AI is sleeping in a bed, and sometimes when they are sitting in a chair. It would probably be possible to work around as a mapper, but would only make sense to add if you're supposed to knock the person out. I guess I'm guilty of the Developer's Foresight trope haha. Though I think that's more a sign of an eye for detail than anything!
  22. Glad you enjoyed the mission! I have to say I was fully expecting nobody to ever discover that little detail. Nice catch? You monster!! ^^ 2/3 good deeds and one very bad deed! That's my girlfriend doing the voice line.

    1917 movie

I wanted to go see this, but my gf dragged me in to Birds of Prey instead. >.< I feel like I would have enjoyed 1917 a lot more. They don't make movies like they used to I guess. Thankfully there are still a few games made every now and then that appeal to more mature/hardcore gamers. Kingdom Come: Deliverance and Escape from Tarkov come to mind, though there are plenty more in recent years. Just have to look hard enough! And then there is TDM of course ^^
  24. I could definitely help out with a beta test, this mission has been teased for years now, exciting to see it nearing release!
  25. Thank you for the high praise! CoS 3 is coming along well, and will hopefully be able to live up to this mission while tying up the loose ends.
