  1. The downsizebump trick worked, precisely the one that refers textures. Well, guys, I have a suggestion that may help to moderate that straight-forward eagerness for upgrading things: where I leave we use to say that a winning team must not be modified; so, I'm so sorry, but I won't buy a new machine just to play TDM or whatever game and TDM worked fine with my specs for years. Now, you see, I'm forced to play it with horrible images,just because we use to throw out 'old things' (yeah, I'm already preparing myself for when it'll be my time). Why not keep some old versions of the mod and its missions, I mean, the ones that caused less complaints? Cheers

  3. Hi, guys, thx for the help. My specs are: Athlon 1800 ghz, 2gb, radeon 9200. I used to play every mission until 1 06, I guess. 1,07 excluded Return to the City with 'malloc failure' and now I can play just one: Alberic's Curse. The remaining missions crashes after 'preparing mission' announcement and Windows provides me this (I'm translating): "The instruction "0x22f50c07" referred the memory at "0x00000014". The memory couldn't be "read". Click OK to quit." The same text each mission.
  4. is it possible? since the last update before 1.08 I can't play but a few missions. Now there's no malloc failure, but some memory blocks that are not 'read'. where can I find older versions of tdm?
  5. Before seeing this post I tried the trick and the same happened. Well, I had also noted the objects in invalid area and guessed if poor memory would cause the problem. Thanks for all suggestions, guys, but I need more, if possible. I really want to play RttC again.
  6. As I said, once I played this FM, the same machine. The difference, now, is doom3 version and darkmod's. I'm playing other FMs perfectly. Perhaps this is the case to put RttC on the shelf for a while - reluctantly, I admit. Anyway, thanks, guys.

  8. Hey, guys, Got a low spec machine, let me start by this, but it was able to run 'Return to the City' until my old HD failed. Reinstalled Doom3, patched it to 1.31 and downloaded the newest darkmod version.   9. Hi, Just reporting some downloader issues. I used it - the one that comes with TDM 1.06 - once and got a huge list of missions to be upgraded. I trusted the information, but after some minutes I had a mission list plenty of duplicates. Inside doom3 and fm folders I noticed the names of the last downloaded missions had "_" between the words, while the ones of the previously downloaded missions did not have it. Then I finally checked txt files and noticed that I already had the new versions... So I manually deleted the repeated folders and renamed the old folders after the new ones. After that the downloader hasn't but "A score to settle" in list, one of the fresh missions I downloaded among the 'updated'. What to do? Believe that a new version appeared just after I got the mission and re-download the file or...? I can't remember the reason, but in trying to do these fixes I deleted the ".tdminfo" file, and now the finished missions are no more checked, and some minor informations are gone too... As TDM checks the size of saved files, this information is kept.
  10. I knew it, from start. I'd hate and love this mission, the same I felt for Glenham Tower, moreover because I didn't come to the forum before finishing the map. So, I did the objectives as they were called and went to the bookstore to get my money...! Not before taking care of city watch, naturally: Damn! It seemed they came forever, almost all with torches. The first two I knocked down, but the remaining three I simply stripped out of my way, Yeah, I was playing Doom instead of TDM, I who made every effort to be totally 'polite' in stealth games, who didn't kill but one single zombie in Glenham Tower (the one using the door behind the throne). You made me lose my finesse, Sotha. Then, the book store: like an idiot I watched all the cut scene just to be killed by the lich queen - well, I hadn't killed her before, I admit. I restarted my quick save and took the way to the hamm..., say, the builders, sold the book and entered the abandoned house. I knew there were a final gift, but my bet was vampires = I expect anything from TDM fms. And I found the bed, the lumber and the fire, hoping to finally see the 'mission complete' on screen, to get a new nightmare. S.O.B. (please, read 'son of Baltona')! Didn't you realize I was completely tired? I indeed needed a rest after two huge adventures and had to fight the ones I had killed just one hour ago. Wow! I just wanted to share a tiny part of my feelings while playing the 'glenham' series. I fear they are able to show you the pros, but also the cons of the map. Notwithstanding, you're simply superb Mr. Sotha. Once I thought about paying back all the fun TDM fms give to me and almost added something on 'I want to help'. But how to help? You guys simply don't need any help, moreover mine.
  11. Disregarding versions differences, this is indeed a great mission. But I'm a bit sorry to say I prefer the original one. I've experienced some issues when playing v. 1.6, like frame rate droppings and sky appearances through unexpected breaches when inside sewers or places like the tunnel just before the tavern's basement. These are not serious issues, but they surely work against the player's involvement in the mission. Concerning some topics in the old thread for this mission, neither I liked to stay on that scaffold without realizing chandeliers could be climbable, nor the sensation of being trapped in that small yard - in the beginning of the mission - until managing to jump over that spiked fence to reach the streets. Yes, pipes could normally be climbed - I didn't recall this for some moments -, but I agree with others that the chandelier was an annoying surprise, moreover because it was very hard to reach it from the scaffold - first I had to climb a bar at it's side to get there. Finally, at the tombs, I didn't see the mechanism that opens the saint's grave, but it worked after a lot of effort. The lack of moving AI didn't bother me, for I understood that they shouldn't be a real threat, but a sort of hindrance to make mission tasty. Once one chooses expert level - and almost always cannot make kills - the AI become just 'spicy' obstacles. After saying this and in spite of it I just have to say to you Bkrdude - and to all fm creators - Bravo!!!

Anyway, a very good mission, this first one, very well balanced, in good TDS style. I must confess I expected something like T1 cathedral mission, one of the best missions I ever played, but I enjoy Politics in its own way. I noticed some issues, like a candle in one of the priest's room whose base vanished after clicked, some stuck characters (John and one of the guards in the inner garden) whom I had to help by eventually opening some doors, but nothing that could make the mission less tasteful. I was wholly aware of the first one (I'm stuck exactly in front of that pit), and about the second I could say that I noticed two extra items in inventory, but their names are neither readable, nor can they be used anywhere I tried them on. Even more: I tried to jump from side to side - from one open cell door to the next in diagonal - in a Prince of Persia way, but the character seems to be unable to perform such jumps. He also cannot fight the zombies with the sword, as usual. So, I suppose I should rely on these unknown items:what are their use? </P><P>No new items. I was wrong. I had in mind another FM. Nothing to do in this one.</P>
  16. Hi, I posted some days ago on issues in some FMs. Now I think they are all solved after painfully downloading v. 1.01 (dial-up, files mismatch etc ) . Even in my almost low-end machine DM runs smoothly. Great. But what can I say on NHAT? Nothing at all. At least until now. Maybe I'm playing the game in a too real mode, keeping settings as recommended in Training Mission, say, dark enough to realize I have now a cohort of zombies in front of me and nowhere to go. I managed to escape the first walking creature, so saving holy water for mentioned warden, and doors seem to open with keys only. Reading these threads is enough to admit you're all geniuses of stealth games, for the tips you give always refer further in this first adventure. So, my friends, put down a clue for the less gifted or I'll never say here how great is NHAT campaign. Thanks,
  17. I'm really disappointed I couldn't load mission even in the low-end PC level. Game crashes and the error message runs too quickly to be copied. Something is missed, maybe a file is not found. After that there's no option to go back to menu except hitting 'esc'.
  18. Hi, a very nice mission, although I cant 'use' scrolls and books in inventory. Interface crashes after typing 'Enter' or rightclicking these items, so it's impossible to even opens doors and ready weapons or any other items. Any solution? Also there are some areas where the character gets stuck. I think this can be a general problem of DM machine, 'cause the same issue happens in other missions too.
