  1. If you are referring to me because of my apparent strong anti-Republican stance, know that the Democrats are not really my favorite folks either. No flames from me if you feel the GOP is our best of the two evils, they both suck... No need to answer, just wanted that to go on record for some reason. LOL at that clever non sequitur... I think the non-native english speaker ratio on these boards means that folks miss a lot of your encoded humor
  2. Well that may be the devil, you may need to apply the same 64bit\4GB hack to your Doom 3 as Biker did. Or install Linux. If you only have 32bit windows then maybe you could still apply the 4GB hack and enable PAE? Worse case scenario... Biker has to dmap for you and keep passing you new compiled map files for every read-able change .
  3. Can't wait Biker! It will be so good to see this one all combined and polished up!
  4. Nope. I stand corrected. http://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=EntityDef It is darkmod/def as you had stated. The only think I can think of is that the PK4 is overriding the definition in the root folder. You could create you own pk4 with the def folder inside it and append zzz to the front of it to force override. Like zzz_BikerDefs.pk4
  5. I'm pretty sure there is a specific TDM sub-path for definitions. I'd have to crack open Pk4's and look for def files to find it again though (took a peek awhile back).
  6. Then we return to the United States where African American voters in California voted against Obama because of a Homo-Marriage scare campaign (phone calls) by our friends the GOP. This must've been pretty hot-button in that demographic because they had to overlook the GOP's "black voter irregularities" in Ohio and Sarah Palin's racist goading at her election rallies.
  7. You might also need to change a BIOS setting that has locked that partition...
  8. From my understanding a Post Process is anything that has to wait for the whole scene to render because it requires color data from more than one surface? Usually this is a vfp applied to the result in the frame buffer. Traditional blends only require per-material passes which do eat FPS but not on the order of a post process that has to wait for ALL blends before it is executed.
  9. A couple more from the "Essential Reading" thread: Design Document The Dark Mod (the 2nd must be a world-record holder mega-thread since it is still getting updated occasionally... )
  10. This thread at TTLG has nearly the entire origin of the mod documented: http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=87990
  11. Spooky... The death of Mandelbrot: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-11560101
  12. Good. I hope Avast stays afloat, I don't want to have to install AOL for free McAfee (cure worse than the symptom)
  13. Updated Garreth's ole December 2009 entry per the post today (October 17th 2010). Hopefully more of those holiday 2009 folks will follow his example
  14. Thanks Garreth! I cant see Youtube at work but I have updated the Upcoming Fan Missions wiki to reflect this latest update!
  15. LOL You are quite a card Shadowhide
  16. I have gushed about this mod at least a few times but I feel obliged to (again) say bravo and congratulations! Happy Birthday TDM! And many more! Thanks!
  17. After re-reading my post I see that it was unclear. Part one was me coming to the conclusion that your Hard Drive is having physical problems. Part two was me ranting about the decline of AVG. AVG wouldn't cause hard drive problems but could cause OS stability issues (unless they've improved since the last time I installed AVG...). I just don't trust AVG anymore...
  18. Thanks Springheel and Melan! Maybe I will get a little more sleep these days... (Nope... I will still be a hopeless Bug Tracker addict )
  19. Wow 150+ MB!!!! I am salivating!
  20. Mechanical Hard Drives can be in a state of partial failure, yes. I would use a hard-drive testing utility to be sure or even the S.M.A.R.T. test in your BIOS (if it has one) but the symptoms you've described seem pretty clear to me... AVG has been in decline for over a year and have been known to include backdoor software to boost their search and advertising profile. I would remove AVG ans install Avast (hopefully Avast won't also run out of funds from us free-loaders and start pulling stunts like AVG )...
  21. Christmas will be a good time then, as your map will be accompanying Melan and Biker's RTTC re-release. Maybe Winter will have his vertical map ready since he said it would take "two weeks" back in August but that is probably "two Dark Radiant weeks" (which means that Winter is trapped in a diabolical time-paradox and will need to forge his Twilight-Zone style escape for the holidays...) Maybe some of those old 2009 mappers will return for the holidays as well... If I read into your comments for speculation: 1) It definitely means that v1.03 will be out before Christmas 2) It could mean that v1.03 will be out before Halloween (if we stretch the meaning a little). I see that Serpentine will be stuck with exams till November so that could push things to November as well...? (It would be cool to have his improved Training Mission.) So somewhere between Halloween and Christmas. No need to provide any more hints or spoilers. Just having fun imagining the v1.03 release.
  22. Well... if we were being really strict about the topic then these threads cover the original question: http://modetwo.net/d...d-and-upcoming/ http://modetwo.net/d...g-fan-missions/ But I get your point, the whole forum shouldn't be turned into "opportunity to speculate about porn in the internal forums and crack jokes about it...". So to further the main concept for this topic: "Is anyone else planning a mission that has features that are pending v1.03 or simply want to release after v1.03 to prevent having to fix their map if they have accidentally included improper script methods (etc) ???"
  23. From my understanding the Source is whatever color is mapped to a vertex via a texture (etc). The Frame-Buffer is a temporary storage space that stores what will be drawn in the next frame. The idea is that each "pass" paints the whole frame-buffer with some effect then the next paints over it or combines with it. If you use too many passes it takes too long to create the final image and therefore low FPS. The vfp code allows you to pull-off multiple effects in the same pass using mathematical operations. The confusion concept is that you have to imagine painting each pass pixel by pixel or quad by quad...
