Goldwell's mission is shaping-up nicely too! This may be the closest race we've seen since that (fantastic) newbie contest.

Halloween is in 15 days... "Extra super fast" speedbuild contest? ( LOL )

Best "Scare me in 1 or 2 Rooms" contest? Hmm...
-
It is ON!

:-)

Another Chalice mission arrives. Bikerdude and Xarg have fixed-up Fidcal's "Chalice of Kings" for v2.03!

That just leaves The Alchemist, and all the TD missions are post 2.0 compliant, woo!
-
Working on that one next.
-
Oh yeah!!!

Skacky's "Chalice of Souls" (Thief Gold) is out!!!!

And it is quite good too! (BTW, it is a group effort - and most of the first mission is actually NOT by skacky. As strange as it sounds.)
-
Looks solid, downloading.

Just had to undo a Wikipedia revison that redirtected the entire TDM page to a small mention on the Id Tech 4 page...

I've added claims of notability to the top of the article: the PC Gamer award, and distribution by print magazines. Also opened a "notability" discussion on the talk page, so other editors are bound by the rules to respond there with arguments before before removing the article again.

@jaxa I guess we're no longer a doom3 mod, but that link should go back in.
-
Obviously it started out as a Doom3 mod, versions of it on computers out there are Doom mods, and taking away the category makes the game harder to find.

r_useIndexBuffers was broken in drivers in ancient times. It seems that once again enabling this slows things down a bit rather than speeding things. AMD users is it working well for you?
-
We use index vbos by default. I'd have expected stuff to slow down without index buffers, because you need more data for a model without them. Am I reading your message right?
-
Yes, disabling Index Buffers runs slightly better on current Nvidia drivers, contrary to expectations. (Except for when you are used to Nvidia coming from bizarro world with their drivers).

Has anyone tried RwgTex for Normal Map compression? https://github.com/paulvortex/RwgTex

Got a nice performance boost after upgrading my motherboard BIOS.

-
Maybe. But who knows?
-
Yeah. I'm not gonna revert to the old BIOS to find out. I just thought id share. That said, this was the most nerve wracking BIOS update I ever did. The tool was so wonky I was sure I bricked the motherboard doing it until I finally saw the 2nd boot splash
-
So your MB have no double BIOS feature? That's weird! Anyways, congrats with happy update .

Oh crap! I forgot we host Darkradiant on sourceforge. They'll probably start injecting malware now that their business is wrecked.

What a mess. Can Google or some other OpenSource advocate please buy these guys out... Argh!!!
-
Wreck an "open source business", get bought by Google. I'm sensing innovation there nbohr
-
Oh, I doubt there's any conspiracy happening. Sourceforge was riding on the new hotness of Slashdot and the valley culture. They just sat on their ass whilst Github and Reddit ate their lunch.

NewDark has Object LOD now. Maybe folks will be able to play Soul Tear's missions on low-end systems now.

Could help with new versions of EP. They could include LOD assets so all missions automatically benefit.
-
Has there been a new NewDark release?
-
The latest NewDark is now in both Tfix and TafferPatcher.

Fantastic post!

NHAT v3.0 is out now too!!! Crypts are creepier, taverns are cozier, cathedrals are more full of grandeur...

With cocoa production so close to the Ebola hotzone, that might've been a wise gamble.

Ugh, it must be so satisfying to pull off. Maybe in my 80s I'll become a career criminal for the time I have left.

Trying to find pics of old 16th century Inn's online... Did they all have pubs?, Can't find examples without pubs...

I was always under the understanding that they actually didn't have what we consider medieval inns back in real world history. Travelers between cities would usually stay with farmers who would host a room with food and things of that nature. I could be mistaken though but the conventional medieval inn that we picture today just simply didnt exist and is moreso just another hollywood "fact" thats leaked into history
-
there's olde stagecoach inns in the uk but most have been converted into farms or flats, or knocked down, or pubs.

Ugh. Replicans commiting treason again I see. Too bad treason is so popular both parties do it...

Whether you call it treason or not, who are these small members of the legislature to think they can negotiate with another country over the head of the president? What, you get elected in some podunk Vermont district and think you're in a position to play nuclear diplomacy?
Â
BTW America only has a 2 party system because of Duverger's Law. They're perfectly legal to have; they're just mathematically not going to win. It's better for us in the end because the maj...

... major parties end up absorbing minority issues within themselves. Typically it stops the parties from radicalizing, but the Republicans are undermining that logic recently.
-
Oh, Dems and Republicans, Labour and Tories, you can barely distinguish one from the other, with their priorities being so clear against the majority, and them being so like minded... And by the way, dont they have like 40 parties or so in brazil? You guys should be happy that at least you can tell who is who.

OK Biker, hows that NHAT fixup goin' ?

Didn't know you were his secretary, Goldwell.
-
Ah apologies, got distracted by DyingLight. Its pretty much done, just got a path finding issue and I think 3-4 very small bugs left and then its done. I need to take a break fro DL and I will get the above done.
-
No problem Biker, just a little teasing that's all

Anyone have write permissions to the wiki main page: http://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=Main_Page ? I can't edit this to reflect that we are on v2.03 now...

Great work folks! Specially love the new soft particles.

Grayman and SteveL killin' those bugs like crazy! Who is the "good cop" and who is the "bad cop"?

I'll be the good one Here's hoping the tide has turned in the 2.03 beta. It feels like it has to me. On the plus side, it's going to be a feature-packed release. AI that look good close up, AI that cooperate during searches to give complacent players their comeuppance (I've finally had to learn how to use flashbombs to get out of scrapes during this beta), better particles and smoother animations... not to mention a pile of AAA quality models. It's definitely worth it!

The bad cop is.....bad dcoG http://forums.thedarkmod.com/user/1981-baddcog/

BTW where he is hiding since March 2014? :|

hey now, for all we know nbohr might have been neglecting the kid, housework and such to test tdm :-P

TDM v2.03 testers needed. Especially those players who spam quick-save!

Recommend a mission with a lot of particle FX? I recall a bunch in Alberic's Curse
-
"Let Sleeping Thieves Lie" is an amazing showcase of the new particle behavior. As is "William Steele 3: Cleighmoor"
-
Alberic's is great too but it already looked so good that the impact of the change isn't as great. If you want a "before\after" Let Sleeping Thieves Lie really does it.
