Huh, you just reminded me that I actually bough it ages ago and never finished it. I didn't have a Kindle but Calibre does have a decent epub reader so that's what I was using. Apparently I bought it in 2015 so I'm guessing it was either after Requim or A House of Locked Secrets that I bought it, guess I should get around to finishing it too.

@Moonbo We need another mission yo. :)

Well, with all the crazy crap going on in the world, I figured I should read it, just in case anything happened and I either died or electricity went out for the foreseeable future where I live. Unlikely, but with the wars and tensions these days...

  2. A year or so ago, after having set my mind in acquiring a Kindle to be able to read it,  I set out to finish Shadowcursed, a book based in a campaign here in The Dark Mod by Gelo Fleisher. I read through it over the course of a year or so. Sadly, due to my eyes not being what they used to be and extended reading now causing me headaches, I wasn't able to binge on it like I used to do with books in my youth. Instead, I read it off and on over the course of the time since I got it around the midpoint of the Covid 19 pandemic. Having finally finished it, I can saw it was a truly beautiful story taking inspiration from the original Thief trilogy by Looking Glass Studios! I'm glad I purchased it, and also glad that I finally brought myself to finish it despite the migraine behind my eye as I type this from extended hyperfocus of my vision even with my glasses. It had a thrilling, gripping story and a beautiful ending, and I'm glad I have experienced it now.

Zombie Flesh Eaters is actually one of my favorite zombie movies.

Not sure about the art style of the game though... what's with the rectangular faces and bodies? The animations are atrocious as well. I'm really not a gourmet in that regard, but, I'm sure even a very low budget production can do better than that.

It's meant to be evocative of the PS1.

  4. Has anyone else seen this game? It looks pretty good. It's apparently based off of the 1980's Italian zombie films of Lucio Fulci and Bruno Matei, the ones like Zombi that started as a way to make dough off of Dawn of the Dead. I watched a walkthrough of it, and it reminds me of a more raunchy version of the They Hunger trilogy mods for Half-Life and the unreleased "Against All Odds" gane by JamesyDev on YouTube.

  5. It's not just They Hunger. If I were to ever get filthy, stinking rich... well, I'd probably spend the money on charity, to be honest. But I'd save just enough to fund a passion project of bringing back good old games from my childhood into more modern versions so they aren't forgotten by future generations. I'd pay for remakes of Cthulhu: An Unspeakable Mod, Half Life Ultimate Redemption, Wanted!, Swiss Cheese Halloween 2002, USS Darkstar, and Heart of Evil. And that's just the Half-Life Mods! I'd see a true Thief Remaster, an exact remake but with a more modern engine. I'd bring back good old PS1 Games like Shadow Man, and I don't just mean that remastered version, I'm talking a sequel. I'd do a remake and sequel of Stubbs the Zombie, and Akuji the Heartless! I'd remaster all 3 Gex games in a remastered trilogy like Spyro the Dragon and Crash Bandicoot got. I got all these great ideas swirling in my head, but I'm stopped by a mixture of no programmer skills and, even worse, a lack of money. Still, the latter might be gone soon. I'm gonna try to get a job again soon. I applied at my local Burger King. Probably will take a while to earn enough money to pay a single dev for even a single level, but it's a start.

  6. I've mentioned a few times before, I'm a big fan of old Half-Life 1 mods, especially the They Hunger trilogy. But the sad thing is, Half-Life is an aging game, albeit with a meme fanbase. Not many people in the newer gaming generations are familiar with these great games simply due to them being mods for other old games. So, I want to try and share that special, magic feeling I got going through the adventure in the County of Rockwell the first time with a new generation of gamers. But I'm not good at modding myself. My question basically boils down to, how much would I be looking to cough up in dough to pay a programmer to recreate the They Hunger Trilogy in a newer, more advanced engine?

  7. My mom loved the Mila Jovovich movie adaptions even though they're so different from the games, and I thought the first two were okay, but the rest kind of jumped the Shark by making it a global apocalypse. Apparently this show does that too. Still; I planned to watch this movie a few days ago with my family because we don't hang out as much as we used to. They're busy with jobs and I'm left alone in my autistic mancave basement, so I was looking forward to hanging out with them. Maybe I could sit through a shitty show if it means I could be with my family, although it sucks that a series dear to my heart has been raped by woke Hollywood.

  8. I was excited at first when I heard Netflix was going to make a Resident Evil tv show, but I heard from multiple people who I tend to agree with that it's woke garbage, in particular Mutahar from SomeOrdinaryGamers. I did a quick review of others' reviews, and it sound awful. Nonstop woke propaganda B.S. and cringe pop culture references like to "ZOOTOPIA PORN". I heard Netflix was firing most of it's woke writers, but it would seem they managed to squeeze out one last shit from between their asscheeks before they were kicked to the curb. It sucks, because I love the Resident Evil game series.

why not make murder illegal, that should stop all the murderers?

banning such a site doesn't accomplish anything the pedos won't stop being pedos plus their main platforms are discord and twitter. All you end up doing is creating an agency to police the internet. That agency will want to continue existing and grow. Like all agencies before it, it will seek to expand it's influence. Some corrupt egomaniac politician will use that agency to further his goals and increase the agencies power. So instead of woodchipping  pedos you made them migrate discord servers while creating an agency that can ban you for wrong think. Government never gets smaller by itself.

Plus if you would want to enact some scheme that does not have public approval you would wrap it in something morally untouchable like protecting children a holocaust victim fund etc. The more goodie two shoes something sounds the more vigilant you should be.

For example African countries receive food product from the us and europe for free or incredibly low prices, so native farmers cannot compete. This keeps their economy permanently retarded, making them dependent on the aid economy, the us and europe. Many corporations in the west would be negatively impacted by a economically independent Africa. Remember Gaddafi was the western governments favorite dictator until he wanted to create an African banking system.

TL;DR Don't give politicians, oligarchs and lobbyists more power over your life, and don't ever cross the BIS.

That's stupid. "You can't ever stop murder/pedophilia, so don't bother making it illegal HERP DERP"

Sure, that's the most basic thing I expect from them, I'm just worried that it will be used as an excuse to limit what you can or can't do online and maybe even follow you around websites you visit, it's already bad enough in current times with the massive tracking that basically all websites do

Understandable. I'll admit censorship has gotten out of control in many regards online.

Any government introducing laws to "protect the children" is a massive red flag. The few times I heard that stuff it was just an excuse to control what the population can do on the internet and to be honest I don't know how much I trust a bunch of people who probably don't even know how to operate a phone to make laws about technology

I mean, banning any site that repeatedly hosts actual or simulated CP like Lolis or other sick shit like that is something I can get behind.

  12. I want a Duke Nukem game where Duke fights against an alternate version of himself from the past who is from the future. Confused? Basically, FutureEvil!Duke goes into a depression over his loss of popularity since the 90s, along with changes in pop culture, global geopolitics, entertainment, etc. So he builds a time machine and goes back in time and takes over the Earth instead of saving it, forcing the culture of the 90s to never end, so like in 1984 it is forever looping from 1990 to 1999 and resetting. GoodPresent!Duke has to stop his older self who went to the past from ripping the timestream apart with the repeated decade loop, fighting against EvilDuke's army of alien mercenaries, roided out mutants, and robots he bought from Dr. Proton. Eventually, Good Duke beats Evil Duke and learns a lesson that even though times change, and sometimes not necessarily for the better, we can at least choose whether we react poorly or positively to those changes. Then he eats a triple cheeseburger while riding down the highway in his monster truck.

Just out of curiosity, what is it that a modern thief can give you that thief 2 fan missions cant?

Is there some wrong with "epic action movie with super cereal stakes and emotional drama"? Or is that a personal preference?

I really want to know, because these are things i found missing in thief 1 and 2. Thief 3 was the only game that actually ticked all boxes for me, even with the flaws.

It could make it more mainstream without having to dumb it down. And attempts at making modern action movies in all but name out of classic games has lead to series losing their original theme at times.

  14. I also have discussed this idea with people on the console game dreams, and they've made some cool things, too, that people who can't afford to travel or are sick or old and so can't travel, will be able to experience for much cheaper and at home/hospital/retirement home. People have made Zoos filled with Zombie Animals, a recreation of a real life aquarium; one guy remade Disneyland, and one guy is making a collection of theme park rides that have been taken down or replaced, like Jaws The Ride and Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.

  15. I was thinking about what you said, nbohr1more, and while I stick by the Basic idea that talking about stuff so people discuss it and come to consensus on how to deal with it or address it is good, I also admit I can be pessimistic at times. So I started a new post, one about a way that programmers of games can help people who are sick, old, or don't have much time left in life to experience fun things they otherwise wouldn't be able to with VIrtual Reality. It's on a new thread.

  16. I was thinking about how I've been a bit of a pessimist whenever I post stuff in the off-topic section of The Dark Mod Forums, and whilst I do stand by the fact that it's healthy to face unhappy realities of the world in order to provide discussion so that people will spread that discussion and the problems are eventually gained notice of and fixed, I also realize that it's kind of depressing, talking about war and strife. So, I decided to talk about a topic of how we can make the lives of people who are sick and dying happier, and help them experience things they wouldn't be able to otherwise due to their conditions, such as elderly in retirement homes or cancer patient children undergoing chemotherapy or other people who can't go out and travel much. I was thinking about how I haven't gone to the Zoo, Aquarium, or Museum for over a decade, and how I haven't gone to an amusement park, water park, or the beach in summer since covid started. Then I thinks to myself, at least you've done that in your life, some people aren't as lucky or well-off as you've been in life; some people never got around to doing that sort of stuff in their life and now they're stuck in a nursing home, or some are still young but stuck sick in the hospital, and may not live long enough to do that stuff. So I got to thinking, I've seen people on The Dark Mod Forums who've discussed making a VR version of The Dark Mod. And I wonder to myself, hey, you don't know how to program any of this for the less fortunate, but you like to suggest stuff to people, plant seeds in their ears like, so I decided to suggest this to you guys: What about making VIrtual Reality Experiences for the less fortunate? Zoos, Aquariums, Amusement Parks, Carnivals, Circuses, Fairs of the normal and medieval variety, Museums, that sort of thing. And they don't just have to be based on reality, with V.R. you could create a zoo full of unicorns, dragons, zombie animals, aliens, demons, and other fantastical beasts, or make Amusement Park rides that aren't feasibly safe with modern technology, like a roller coaster that reaches up into outer space and through an asteroid belt! I know this comes out of nowhere, but the idea hit me and I'd feel guilty if I didn't share it.

    I'll highlight the important part:

    Here's a tip:

Nobody needs to grouse around about what "idiotic" things people believe.

If you don't like people believing dumb things, then create a blog, youtube video, or podcast explaining the topic in easy ( and friendly ) terms to those you wish to evangelize into the world of being "not idiotic".

Ok. I'll keep that in mind.
