  1. This one is fun as well, St.Lucia: https://piped.kavin.rocks/watch?v=ijLWhldpe04 @Anderson: Has anyone startet working on the missing reverb?
  2. Now you know. Hm, to my experience, crashes in free software is a regular thing. Try "Natron" and you will understand what I mean. Lots of longtime DR mappers ask questions in the Newbie thread (myself included). Nothing to be ashamed of and by DR/DM standards you are a newbie (and you have not to be ashamed of that as well! ) If you want to report a bug, then please use the Bug Tracker. There is also a guideline how to identify a bug somewhere - can't find it now. Free software - see above and also see OrbWeavers comment in the linked thead above. You wouldn't believe how many mappers lost WIPs because of defective hardware and thus again: backup management is vital and problems with the mod are just one critical aspect to consider when establishing a backup system. I don't know, you tell me. However, for somebody who expects Armageddon in the near future (and there are really good reasons for that), you have a pronounced need for communication. I think that does not fit, because: Why go on with communication when all hell will break lose the day after tomorrow? Anyway, I did not want to offend you and I think it was a mistake to start my replay with a question ("why don't you simply post all your questions in the Newbie thread ?"). I apologize for that and I hope that you - despite of your own assessment - will finish your WIP and we all can enjoy a cool new mission in the future with your name in the credits.
  3. Never let me down RIP, Andy. What a damn shit.
  4. No offence, but why don't you simply post all your questions in the Newbie thread ? I dare saying that you won't make friends here if you repeatedly point out the shortcomings of the mod when - according to your own account - you do not even plan to finish a mission. This is then extremely bad project management and anyone who is seriously interested in creating DM missions must think about appropriate backups and versions. You can read here what longtime contributor Orbweaver has to say on that topic. His tone might be a bit too harsh, but he's basically right. Don't get me wrong, I admire how you've been digging into this for the past few weeks, but you're overshooting the mark a bit here. It might also be a good idea if you took a few days off. I have the impression that you're already going in the direction of burnout. You should prevent this if you really want to provide an interesting mission we all can enjoy.
  5. Are you kidding? They even thought that this song was "the perfect song written decades ago about the attack on traditional, conservative American values". What prompted Dee Snyder to make the following reply: "You think i wrote a song in support of "traditional American values"? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! You funny. "
  6. They thought this song would reflect their agenda, of course they were wrong and the band made it clear that the lyrics have the opposite meaning of what they had in mind: Nico Vega - Beast of America That being said, Ken Levinson certainly wouldn't have used it in Bioshick Infinite if they were right. If I recall correctly, a similar video with shorter running time was part of the original release in 2013 but does not show up on the remaster.
  7. I've already been wondering what you've been up to in the meantime. Anyway, looks great. Enviable talent.
  8. @joebarnin Jeff, he played Now and Then as well. I watched part 1 and 2 yesterday, and part 2 is exactly how I envisaged cautious guys playing this mission when we did beta testing! Part 2: https://piped.kavin.rocks/watch?v=OlTlga1mb2w
  9. ...in the meantime: Mr. Axel finished the main quest and is determined to complete two remaining optional objectives: https://piped.kavin.rocks/watch?v=fN-z581IOew I must say, I admire his stamina. However, the way he uses the inventory causes me physical pain. Somebody around with a google account to tell him that he can cycle through inventory items using certain keys?
  10. Have you guys ever noticed this English gentleman? https://piped.kavin.rocks/channel/UCSqIEwL7Olwd_krFWhEsTIg He has done plenty of Dark Mod mission playthroughs. I checked several of his walkthroughs the past few weeks and I have the impression he is playing the missions thoroughly and very, very slowly - to clarify: he's playing TLC from my HH series right now and towards the end the session already has 10 (!) videos of 40-60 (!!) minutes each....but then again I recall that before beta I myself estimated a playing time of five to seven hours, so... Anyway, he also played my favorite DM mission The Accountant 2 sometime ago - I will definitely watch all related videos in the next days as I have the feeling that it will be quite interesting because of the level design. So if you're looking for playthroughs where the player really sneaks through the mission and suspects the end (or something even worse) behind every wall, then you've come to the right place.
  11. I like the briefing with the writing sound and the word appearing in a book...and the is fracking unbelievable! I don't feel like checking the map but I am really curious how you achieved that!
  12. Cool. I will give them a ring and ask them to hand me the IP rights for a symbolic 1 Euro...and then I will start a new Thief that really deserves the name with a few of my modding friends from here.
  13. I think it is a better idea to start with another mission as template, as Iris is quite complex, uses lots of advanced stuff and thus will be for a newcomer surely confusing. I recommend you to start with Sotha's "Bakery Job" which is available via the downloader and there is also a video tutorial that shows how he produced this mission from scratch to beta: https://piped.kavin.rocks/watch?v=gem2sHGhfZE You can then start modifying this mission and see how it changes. However, after Sotha's video tutorial, you should definitely go through Springheel's tutorial as well because it includes vital information regarding Visportals, AI and other things: https://piped.kavin.rocks/watch?v=6m-yq4hH81Y&list=PLUoSeWinI05Qv5srQnKYAC-MrYwCY2-lk&index=1
  14. I had to check the wiki as I had no idea who or what is behind this venture. I'm surprised how many European developers they've bought over the years, and there's a total of over 10,000 people working there. That makes them bigger than EIDOS were in their best times twenty years ago. I find even more surprising all the titles that have been bought up over the years. Don't know if that will bring any improvement for LoK, Thief or Deus EX - looks like they want to keep developing those titles in Canada as (no offense) Montreal stands for me with 2006's Assassin's Creed for the decline of the industry. I therefore do not believe that this will be positive, especially since I have not noticed that one of the brands mentioned in the wiki has attracted attention with spectacular reboots or further developments in recent years - Darksiders 3 excluded.
  15. Mysterious & wonderful: https://piped.kavin.rocks/watch?v=r6O9uGmujvU
  16. Oh vey, baby, it has begun: https://piped.kavin.rocks/watch?v=Qz3u06eXf0E @Amadeus: Have you watched the first two episodes? I did not till now...I think I will wait for the DVD. I dare saying this series is even better than BB. This really breaks my heart. Why can't I be the one doing a show like that? It is so depressing!
  17. The puzzles are partly really crazy. Did you finish the games without help? I recall the spiritual precursors "Labyrinth" and "Maniac Mansion". The first could be beat with logic, but Maniac Mansion already showed what the following Monkey Island games would include: illogical puzzles. Back then, I did not play 1,2 and 3, but "played" (with online help) part 4 around 2000. Loved the humor, the setting and some of the puzzles, but it was simply too crazy. I really want to love this series, but the developers made theese games much too difficult.
  18. Last year Psychonauts 2, and this year... https://piped.kavin.rocks/watch?v=sahskKAxSCY Very, very surprising. It's kind of like they would announce that Elvis will rise from the dead this year.
  19. This one works just with responses: https://streamable.com/qck043 Set up: 1. Two rubies (just the model entites) placed in the skull at mission start and turn them frobable (static_rubies) 2. Two rubies (the moveable loot entities) in a blue room (teleporter_rubies) 3. Two atdm:teleport entities (left and right) with the same world coordinates as the two static rubies. These teleport entities must target the corresponding teleporter_rubies in the blue room. 4. Four frob responses on the skull: ----> a. remove static_ruby_left ----> b. remove static_ruby_right ----> c. trigger teleporter entity left ----> d. trigger teleporter entity right 5. Each of the static rubies needs a frob response to frob its corresponding teleporter_ruby in case the player frobs one or two of the rubies before he grabs the skull AND a second response to remove itself. @Spooks
  20. This example is with a moveable skull and moveable rubies. The rubies start moving when hit by another moveable entity: https://streamable.com/oepbh1
  21. If the purse is not attached to an AI, you can use the teleport entity (forgot its exact name, I am not typing this from my workstation) that teleports entities to its origin once activated. Just place the purse entity somewhere players cannot reach it before the teleportation (it can also be put into worldspawn). I used this method several times in past missions for items to be collected by the player and it works without problems. EDIT: The entity name is "atdm:teleport"
  22. "Dinge erklärt - kurzgesagt" is a channel on which all kinds of questions from the natural sciences, politics and philosophy are illuminated in vivid 10 - 13 minute videos. German version: https://piped.kavin.rocks/channel/UCwRH985XgMYXQ6NxXDo8npw English version: https://piped.kavin.rocks/channel/UCsXVk37bltHxD1rDPwtNM8Q Very entertaining, here a few of my favorite videos: The Fermi Paradox - Why we should NOT look for aliens: https://piped.kavin.rocks/watch?v=xAUJYP8tnRE The day the dinosaurs died - minute by minute: https://piped.kavin.rocks/watch?v=dFCbJmgeHmA What if Earth got kicked out of the solar system? https://piped.kavin.rocks/watch?v=gLZJlf5rHVs
