  1. Sorry for the delay, RL got in the way. Tested it today (Manjaro Linux 64bit with latest packages). Downloaded the files, copied them over, started the game, all fine (version number in console is 8165). Save/load works, get a low-res screenshot, too. Downloaded a FM (and installed/started it), check. Finished with starting the updater, which apparently worked without any issues.
  2. I'm currently using Manjaro Linux, so I guess I can give it a spin over the course of the weekend...
  3. Just did a quick test of this version on my system (RX 480 with amdgpu on Manjaro/Kernel 5.0.3). So far seems pretty good: maps work with and without soft shadows stencil works without soft shadows, "ss on" makes all shadows disappear, though. Had one strange occurrence yesterday - after starting TDM a few times due to resetting resolution and stuff (I had deleted the config file), I suddenly got flickering horizontal black lines, a bit like when you have a faulty monitor cable. They persisted after closing TDM, but went away with a reboot. Might actually be a amdgpu problem, I guess. Anyway, overall this version seems to work well for me, with the small exception of soft stencil shadows.
  4. Ok, tried building from svn, "maps" seems to work now. Even soft shadows work that way, as far as I can tell. Haven't tried debug-mode yet, maybe tomorrow, if it still serves a purpose, considering it seems to be working now?
  5. r_ignoreGLErrors does nothing, be it with 0 or 1. Regarding building from source - I can try, although I don't have much experience with that (I've done it once or twice, but typically for smaller stuff), so I might need some kind of "tutorial". Particularly when it comes to debugging. However, maybe other Linux users should first check whether shadow maps work for them, in the end it's just an issue with my system.
  6. Nothing enlightening in darkmod.log, I think: Here's the last part of the terminal output after it crashed: Up until the segfault part it seems to be the same as when I set stencil shadows (haven't compared it 1:1 though).
  7. Let me know if there's anything else I can help with.
  8. Ok, did some testing. I think there might actually be two issues with the Linux build on my system - lighting in general and soft shadows in particular. "r_useGLSL 0" fixes lighting in vanilla 2.07, but once I switch on soft shadows, it's borked again: That's what it looks like with either GLSL=1 or soft shadows. Now, GLSL=0 AND soft shadows "off" fixes the lighting, as far as I can tell with the vanilla 2.07 binary. Using the binary provided by duzenko makes it work with GLSL=1: So far, so good, but enabling soft shadows again just makes all shadows vanish (lighting remains, though): But it's a start! Furthermore, using "maps" as shadow type makes the game crash to desktop on Linux.
  9. Hey all, I've been away from TDM for a while and only yesterday noticed that 2.07 is out. Seems I'm affected by the lighting issue as well (AMD RX 480 here). On Windows I see the strange lighting described earlier in this thread, on Linux, I basically don't get any shadows at all. I would be willing to do some testing on Linux (I'm running amdgpu on Manjaro with 4.19 kernel and Mesa 18.3.3), if that's still being looked for.
  10. That did the trick, now I see the menu and can finally play it. Thanks a lot!
  11. Thanks for the suggestion, but it doesn't seem to change anything for me. Do you mean .vfp files? Because there's only one .vp file and not a single .fp.
  12. Sadly, on Linux I'm still having the black screen issue. Will gladly provide additional info, if someone is interested.
  13. Did that, still the same...
  14. Did a clean install of TDM on Linux today, now TDM is starting again, but I still get only a black screen with menu sounds. Here's the output from the terminal:
  15. Hey all, have been following TDM for some time now, couldn't resist trying out the beta, but ran into some problem with the Linux version, so I decided to make an account here. Windows seems to run fine for me, but on Kubuntu 17.10, 2.06 won't run at all - 2.05 runs ok-ish (basically a bit worse than on Windows). First 2.06 Beta version I tried would start, but I only got a black screen with the menu music and sound effects playing. Tried various suggestions I found here, but had no luck with them. Newest Beta now outright refuses to start. When I try from a terminal, I only get one line about a memory access error, nothing else. I had previously tried both a fresh install (letting the updater download everything anew) and updates. About my system:
