  1. I suspect you have an old version of WinRAR. Either upgrade or use 7-zip instead, which is completely free to use.
  2. Thanks for the update! Just a curious question: with v4 the stripped down Directors Cut version is now obsolete and officially dead?
  3. Ah, the directors cut version has been updated yet another time. Thanks for the notice! Just a note: the author wishes to have the regular version to be considered to be official version, which is still at v3. http://forums.thedarkmod.com/topic/15117-final-tuned-version-fm-the-siege-shop-v3-by-pranqster-and-lowenz-2014209/page-5?do=findComment&comment=362412 The directors cut is a stripped down version for weak systems and din't make it to the TDM site by purpose, I guess.
  4. 'Sneak & Destroy' was formerly known as 'kneipe24'. That is for sure the folder where you see the second entry coming from. The official naming convention for the internal mission name and the folder to be created is pretty much as follows: all lower case characters, no blanks ... and as short as possible. So, at any rate 'The Rift' or 'Awaiting_the_Storm' were created by manual downloads. That is the sort of duplication issue one has to expect if one downloads a misssion before it becomes available in the internal downloader, because the TDM team makes sure that the mission provided by the author gets a proper naming in order to avoid confusion and other issues later on.
  5. Both are still in need of updating and have been taken down because of that. Check the Beta-Testing forum, page2.
  6. You are right. That was supposed to read fixed
  7. Quite a bunch of missions initially came out with custom models, textures, etc. And much of that stuff was considered to be worth integrating into the TDM stock resources. As result, as soon as the next TDM version came out with that stuff integrated, missions became updated and the formerly 'custom' resources got removed. So, large differences can be seen for various missions. Most of the time the leaner ones are the latest versions. Technically you can not have the 'same' mission multiple times in your fms folder. So, you must see some differences in the folder names already. e.g. 'business' vs. 'business3' Most likely you manually downloaded a bunch of missions, in which case the internal downloader will not even bother offering you to update them, once an update would come out. Your best chance is to open the pk4 files and check which one has the latest content and drop the other ones. Simply drop the outdated folders that you find within 'darkmod\fms'. In case you are in doubt which version to keep, simply delete all folders referring to that fm and kick the internal dowloader to fetch the latest version.
  8. It would be really nice to see the FM versioning being improved some day. (see previous post) Just yesterday I updated my TDMMissionDb checker tool. Originally designed to check that all FM mirrors are consistent, it can now also check your local fms folder against the list of official FM mirrors. As a result I identified a bunch of FM updates, that the internal downloader was not able to inform me about. (although the original versions had been downloaded that way as well and the 'version' in 'fms/missions.tdminfo' was set) http://www.gnartsch....DbCheck_0.6.zip Simply extract somewhere and make sure you have Java v 1.6 or higher installed. Call it with your fms folder specified in order to have your local FMs checked against the version(s) on the server. Note that issues with local fms go to the console window only, whereas the results of checking the consistency of the official FM mirrors goes into the file analysis.txt If you receive something like the following in the console window, then you know that your local copy is either behind or ahead of what is available on the official mirrors. Even if the internal downloader does not inform you about an available update. Mission # 75 - vfat2 : Vengeance for a Thief Part 2 Mismatching local FM size!
  9. v06 of the tool is out ! http://www.gnartsch.de/Download/TDMMissionDbCheck_0.6.zip Simply extract somewhere and make sure you have Java v 1.6 or higher installed. New feature: call it with your fms folder specified in order to have your local FMs checked against the version(s) on the server. TDMMissionDbCheck.bat d:\games\darkmod\fms Note that issues with local fms go to the console window only, whereas the results of checking the consistency of the official FM mirrors goes into the file analysis.txt If you receive something like the following in the console window, then you know that your local copy is either behind or ahead of what is available on the official mirrors. Mission # 75 - vfat2 : Vengeance for a Thief Part 2 Mismatching local FM size!
  10. The internal downloader is basicly suffering from the lack of a better mission versioning system. (and in a few cases from the authors who do not even provide a proper version info). I pointed out the issues here a while ago, along with a solution that should not cause all that much trouble to implement - I guess. I would really wish that the limitations would be eliminated, because having to scan the forums for new versions isn't all that much fun. And then having to download them manually, although the new version is even on the mirrors because the downloader isn't aware that there is a newer version on the official mirrors isn't much fun either. @Springheel: for sure you did not see an update coming in for Vengeance of a Thief part1 & 2, although you might have noticed part 3 as a new mission. Part 1 & 2 are still reading version 1 and therefor will never find their way to my computer as a simple, straight forward update. @Florian: I am not aware of SiegeShop v4. Neither the official mirrors nor the corresponding threads point me to such a version. But you are right. There are many updates which can only be obtained manually by either deleting the mission from disc and then running the internal downloader - or by downloading them manually. Simply because the simple integer versioning of missions does not give the internal downloader a chance to do its job.
  11. A few issues in the mission database : MISSION # 13 : returntothecity, "Talbot 2: Return to the City" by Melan & Bikerdude 2 links are outdated and refer to an older version. Interesting. I did not see that update being announced. Anyway, the updated version is found on one mirror only. http://darkmod.taaaki.za.net/fms/returntothecityv3.pk4 Size: 33.9 MB (35597213) Last update: Sat Jan 03 21:05:23 CET 2015 http://www.fidcal.com/darkuser/missions/TDM2testmissions/returntothecityv3.pk4 Size: 35.8 MB (37557302) Last update: Sun Sep 08 18:03:42 CEST 2013 http://www.southquarter.com/tdm/fms/TDM2testmissions/returntothecityv3.pk4 Size: 35.8 MB (37557302) Last update: Fri Oct 04 23:41:24 CEST 2013 MISSION # 65 : ws1_north, "William Steele 1: In the North" by Grayman The following link to the localization file is dead. http://swift-mazes.com/fms/ws1_north_l10n.pk4 MISSION # 22 : delivery, "Special Delivery" by Silencium18 All links to localization files are referring to files which are identical (in size and content) to the mission file itself. 12. Thanks ! Now, I understand that part 1 and 2 got updated. But the internal downloader isn't aware of that, although both pk4's got updated on the server. @Sir Taffsalot & Bikerdude: would it make sense to update the version to 2 for these in the database? As long as the version sticks to 1, one will never receive the update in a reasonable way.
  13. Don't use revision numbers to indicate an update. So, don't update from v 1 to v 1.1. Since the internal downloader can only handle integers, the admins would leave the version number as is. As a result, players would not even see an update being available at all using the internal downloader.
  14. Same here when it comes to funcstatics, worldspawn and any type of DromED-brushes and whatnot.
  15. Hmmm... so this is gona be a real campaing? Afaik there is no real campaign out there so far, so it would be a good opportunity to get that new feature properly tested, both with respect to loot-carry-over, cutscenes, and whatever else. Just my 2 cents.
  16. Watched only the first 5 minutes so far. Walking through such streets with ancient houses as a thief with the mud squashing noticeably between your toes. Paint your face with dirt, so at least you can not be spotted that easily. That would make fine mission!
  17. Sounds to me like you are having a general issue with Windows deteting your primary display. First of all, go to the Windows control panel ('Display' -> 'Resolution') and swap primary and secondary display there. That screen should show your 2 displays. Take note that this screen also allows you to drag the displays to the correct location (whether the primary is on the left or right)! If that doesn't help, run TDM in windowed mode and move it manually to the correct screen. Then maximize it again. Windows should now recall your preference whenever you are launching TDM or other stuff (assuming both displays are ON all the time).
  18. I would recommend 'Avira Antivirus'. Personally I am using the free version for a couple of years already and never had an infection. (From time to time I installed one of the more popular ones, just to verify that it really is as good as it states. And indeed, the other ones had nothing to complain on either.) The nice thing about Avira is that it doesn't slow down the system. And yet it blocks any crazy virus shit coming from the internet already while you are downloading it. Edit: Found a recent top-ten AV review and I am pleased to read what is written there. http://anti-virus-software-review.toptenreviews.com/ http://anti-virus-software-review.toptenreviews.com/avira-antivir-review.html
  19. Why not simply move your darkmod folder to the other drive entirely? You may need to adjust the shortcut which launches TDM, but that's about it, because there are no settings stored in the registry or anywhere else. Rightclick on the shortcut after the move, select 'Properties' and then adjust 'Target', 'Work folder' and 'Other symbol'. Or simply create a new one, if you did not add any specific launch options to the shortcut.
  20. I have bookmarked that thread in my own mission list. And it uses some odd encoding which I have never seen anywhere else: forums.thedarkmod.com/topic/12894-fan-mission-%2348-a-score-to-settle-by-springheel-20110701/ http://forums.thedarkmod.com/topic/12894-fan-mission-%2348-a-score-to-settle-by-springheel-20110701/ The # is replaced with %23. But the link still works! However you can not even move on to another page in that thread. Edit: Oh, that is actually standard URL encoding.
  21. I would recommend to post the entire log. (tdm_update.log in c:\darkmod) It might hold some clues.
  22. Thanks for this nice mission! It is definetly worth a couple of replays, with all these optional quests. Now, since I had not read the opening post carefully reagrding that, I didn't buy anything in the shop on the first run and just went for the 'Hard' difficulty. And ran into a few issues. Maybe they can be sorted out in an updated version some time.
  23. The answer was as precise as the question was, I would say. As long as you don't know what engine to use and what sort of game to make, no one can guess where you might find the right person.
  24. Why don't you simply upgrade to TDM 2.02 ?
