  1. Yeah, but... Thief Gold kicks ass! I like some of the aesthetics in that game much better than T2, for example the sounds, the guard vocals, the different enemy types, etc. I would love to see some more Thief Gold *missions*, not video clips...
  2. That wasn't me. I have never released any missions to the community for either game.
  3. Sounds like an opportunity for a simple cvar "g_ForceAllFonts <fontname>" where fontname is the name of the desired font. Now, if I knew how, I would code this.
  4. I find that setting the performance mode from "adaptive" to "prefer max performance" helps as well with the FPS in TDM.
  5. Its important that cut-scenes can be skipped in games. For example, if I am replaying a favorite game of mine and I have already seen the cut-scene before, it is nice to be able to get down to action.
  6. I don't think you're gonna get smooth frame rates at 1920x1080 with that NVIDIA chip in there. I would try playing at something like 1366x768 or 1280x720, which ever of these two you are allowed to choose in Windows. That will give you a large speed boost. The game can actually look better if you run at a lower resolution, but with some of the fancy stuff still turned on. The use of high resolutions really slows you down on lower end GPUs and if you have to turn everything else off to compensate for that, it still won't look good anyway.
  7. Shhhh Don't give them any ideas. They took away our dev console access and advanced graphics options; and we don't want them taking away our ability to adjust trivial things like volume levels too. After all, the goal is to turn gaming into another passive medium like television where all you do is consume content, how and when it is given to you. We can't even jump wherever we like anymore for cryin' out loud!
  8. Does this game require Steam? If it does, and yet there is neither multiplayer nor editing tools, that is pretty unethical IMO. "You can't play with other people, nor can you mod/map for the game, but you have to use an online profile so we can track you." Then again, the last Tomb Raider didn't require Steam.
  9. Are you sure you are playing on your dedicated graphics card (the Geforce and not the intel integrated)? Right click on the dark mod executable file and select run with GPU > nvidia GPU On my I7 laptop, TDM *does* run on the Intel GPU, but not well. Let us know if this solves the performance problem and or crashing problem.
  10. So... whatcha doin, Bikerdude? You have a bit of a habbit of winning contests around here... lol Hopefully we will see some new Thief Gold or TDM missions! Also, there was that version of The Trickster's mansion that was made for TDM during testing but never completed. Can that be polished up and entered?
  11. That would be epic! I would love to see something like that.
  12. I haven't finished this yet, but the music is really great... pretty much all of it.
  13. Not a problem. Its just that after all the crap that has been exposed, we are more paranoid about privacy than ever. I find it amusing that our reputation as a nation has been damaged in the eyes of others. They don't trust us now, and for good reason. (Our hands have been caught in the cookie jar and now everybody else knows it.)
  14. There are Mech "security bots" if you will. They don't attack you, they just cause a disterbance when they see you and light up the area. They are also quite loud, so you will hear them before you run into them. I was thinking about the AI standing still while fighting again. Instead of doing animation tweaks, what about having some code that checks the distance to the opponent. If the distance is less than a meter, they would have a random chance of circle strafing left or right for a random time. I don't know how it is done in TDM, but in Quake, the bots "lock on" to you when they attack. You can clearly see this if you spectate them. So, what if the TDM AI gets close to you, is locked onto you as far as targeting goes, and does a slight bit of circle strafing?
  15. My budget tablet from a year ago: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA24G0U26292 (I got it for less than that) That new tablet: http://www.zdnet.com/samsung-galaxy-tab-3-lite-7-0-android-tablet-goes-on-sale-for-159-99-7000026378/ As for SSDs becoming standard in mainstream laptops, not gonna happen for a LONG time. As long as they can peddle crappy 5400 RPM drives to people who don't know any better, they will.
  16. Yeah, the massive leaps in price/performance that were around fifteen years ago are no more, sadly. Just yesterday I saw a tablet that is slower than the model I purchased last year being sold for more than mine cost at that time! lol Its like we're being overcharged for a stale bag of chips, just because they can.
  17. I'm generally not a huge fan of roof-top missions, but this was great!
  18. How expensive was it, and how come you didn't get a newer 760 instead? I'm not too familiar with the 660 vs the 760, and I know that some manufacturers try to screw people by relabeling older parts as newer parts to sell them again/at a higher price. That isn't the case with the 660/760, is it? I ask because I am still interested in the 760 and if its just a rebadged 660, I obviously will do what you did.
  19. Oh okay, thanks for answering my question though.
  20. This sort of thing makes me consider SELinux. It restricts what programs can do based on what groups they are in. For example, your X server can be running as root, but it can STILL be prevented from accessing sensitive parts of the OS, even if it gets hijacked. I was watching a talk about SE Linux last night from a guy at Red Hat. Even if an attacker hijacks a process that is running as root on your machine, he will still be unable to exceed the clearance level of whatever group that program was confined to. This is starting to sound like more of a good idea for general use.
  21. This is purely an aesthetic thing but... While playing Gman's latest FM, there were some vent covers that looked like they had holes in them. However, light was unable to pass through them. Wouldn't it look better if they were mapped with a transparent texture so that light can travel through the small holes, instead of getting a complete black shadow? Can you do that in this engine? I don't mean to be nit-picky here, but I've seen other games with grates like that where (when it moves), it casts lots of tiny shadows on other surfaces and looks quite awesome. What do you think of this?
  22. Rather than making snide remarks, I'll just leave this here... http://www.reddit.co...u_have_visited/ *silently motions to his license agreement below as he leaves the room*
  23. Did you ever play Resident Evil (the remake)? *THAT* is how you do a reboot/remake of a game. It was a massive improvement in graphics and sound quality, it added lots of new content (and nasty surprises!) and it was very unforgiving in terms of difficulty. If you didn't destroy the zombies properly, they would get back up later and charge after you much more aggressively than before.
