  1. I think it is a general problem, present to a greater or lesser degree in any country, with governments breaking their finger on the nose to define what is freedom of expression and what is not. I think we all have different opinions on this issue, but in general it is absolutely clear that one thing is an opinion, if it is objective and verifiable, although certain people may not like it and from uttering lies, defamations intentionally to harm or discredit others, the latter certainly has nothing to do with freedom of expression. Regarding Islam, this in its origin is no worse than any other religion. But just as in Christianity, there are dozens of different branches, some more liberal and others more strict and orthodox. Defining everyone equally, globalizing them all as rapists and terrorists is certainly a mistake, it is like saying that Christianity is harmful, because there are groups like the KKK. The other problem in Muslim countries is that they are largely theocratic countries, can anyone imagine in their country that it is governed theocratically by the Catholic Church, which applies the laws of the Bible? Just thinking about it gives me nightmares. Well, this is what happens in many of these countries, not because of the people, more or less believers, but who are forced to comply with the mandates so as not to run the risk of being stoned, beheaded or lose any limb. In a Catholic theocracy, the panorama would not be much better, the Vatican to this day has not yet signed the declaration of human rights and has not criticized torture or the death penalty. They pay with Euros, but the Vatican does not belong to the European Union, because it does not meet the requirements to be.
  2. The entire market is regulated in one way or another. Naturally and unfortunately there are always abuses. But what is done on the internet goes beyond what companies can afford in real life. I imagine a security company that installs an alarm in your home and forces you to install cameras in each room, guarded by them 24 hours, apart from sharing these footage with third parties, advertising companies. Well, this is exactly what these big internet companies do, as I said before, they even read your email. No matter how depraved the markets are in real life, they don't even go up to this point in North Korea. This is what this initiative is going against, we must stop these abuses before it goes further. You already know the story of how to cook a frog, putting it in cold water that gradually warms up. So the frog does not find out until it is late.
  3. Only if the user and the webs tolerate this. Apart the destination of the "market" world don't depend on this. Every company in the real world which uses fraudulent or abusive practices or sells toxic or dangerous products, can be closed by governments, it is also possible on the web. It cannot be that you are persecuted for misusing a copyrighted thing, for violating the rights of the autor, but if they violate your privacy rights, specified in the constitution, nothing happens. The problem lies in legislators who make Internet laws, correcting errors in Word with Tip-ex. For this this initiative, bringing together all CEOs and Webs, affected by this abuse of certain companies, forcing legislators to take action on the matter. Apart from making users aware of boycotting as much as possible sites that use these abusive practices. What do you do with a guy watching you through your bedroom window or the postman you catch opening and reading your mail? Nothing to do with the law of the market, you don't need to tolerate this.
  4. It is a fairly important initiative, since this type of surveillance for commercial purposes, trafficking with user data, is not only degrading the user to mere merchandise and a privacy problem, but this, apart from the risks indicated in this letter, can also become a real security risk. Apart from the fact that we have no influence on the treatment of the data, once sold to third parties, it is not the first time that sensitive banking and medical data of hundreds of thousands of users have been filtered from Google and Facebook, among others.
  5. Open letter: Ban surveillance-based advertising Recently, the Norwegian Consumer Council published a report calling for a ban on surveillance-based ads. In solidarity, we the undersigned have sent the following letter on Wednesday, July 7th, to EU and US regulators to encourage them to take action during legislative sessions and any relevant privacy discussions. Surveillance-based advertising permeates the internet today, creating a number of highly problematic issues for both consumers and businesses. On June 23, a broad coalition of consumer rights organizations, civil rights groups, NGOs, as well as academics, researchers, privacy experts, and enthusiasts – all concerned individuals – called on regulators to stop the invasive and privacy-hostile practices related to surveillance-based advertising. In the EU, they urged regulators to consider a ban on surveillance-based advertising as a part of the Digital Services Act. In the U.S., they urged legislators to enact comprehensive privacy legislation. We are a group of businesses who write to you today to show our support to this initiative. We represent small, medium, and large businesses who all believe – and demonstrate on a daily basis – that it is possible to run profitable companies without exploiting the privacy of individuals. In addition to the clear privacy issues caused by surveillance-based advertising, it is also detrimental to the business landscape. In the surveillance-based advertising model, a few actors can obtain competitive advantages by collecting data from across websites and services and dominant platform actors can abuse their positions by giving preference to their own services. These practices seriously undermine competition and take revenue away from content creators. Anti-competitive behavior and effects serve to entrench dominant actors’ positions while complex supply chains and ineffective technologies lead to lost revenues for advertisers and publishers. It is also difficult for consumers to distinguish between ‘good’ and ‘bad’ actors in the digital sphere, which means that legitimate actors, amongst them many small and medium-sized enterprises, are directly affected by the actions of unscrupulous companies. This harms consumers and businesses and can undermine the cornerstones of democracy. Although we recognize that advertising is an important source of revenue for content creators and publishers online, this does not justify the massive commercial surveillance systems set up in attempts to “show the right ad to the right people”. Other forms of advertising technologies exist, which do not depend on spying on consumers, and alternative models can be implemented without significantly affecting revenue. On the contrary – and that we can attest to – businesses can thrive without privacy-invasive practices. We encourage you to take a stand and ban surveillance-based advertising. 6. Royalty free music for any use (CC license 4.0, put autor in the credits) https://www.serpentsoundstudios.com/royalty-free-music/celtic-fantasy Free soundeffects and background music https://instrumentalfx.co/topics/royalty-free-music/
  7. I imagine animation is the trickiest part. There is also another application, Mixamo (Adobe), it has a lot of characters but you can upload own ones and animate them easily, Maybe this can help Need registry (Adobe ID) but is free
  8. Different persons can easily made with Makehuman (FOSS with a lot of plug ins) and imported to, f.Exmpl. Blender or other 3D app. They give a standart figur only need to ajust gender, race, ages , height, expression, clothes and all other parameters.
  9. TDM is very present on the net, with 100% positive reviews, even in reviews on Russian and Japanese pages. In Steam it has not succeeded, despite more than 20,000 upvotes from the community, but I think that a FOSS game does not fit the philosophy of Steam. If it were up to the community, it would be there since long time ago, but apparently the admins don't think the same.
  10. The problem with the Linux Repo is what I said, people do not look there for Games, because what is there frankly is not worth it, but if there is TDM in the Repo, people surely pay more attention, since TDM is a Exception between OpenSource games and it will bring fresh wind to the other games that are in the repositories and maybe it will also cause others to dare to create OpenSource games, because what is offered so far is the same as it was 15-20 years ago . As commercial games are increasingly being developed for Linux, TDM aside, the OpenSource communities are resting on their laurels in this field. For this, it is not necessary to make major changes in the way of distribution, it is enough to get the installer there. In general, I do not think that hosting TDM in a store or repository is the only way to increase users, starting with word of mouth there are many other options. People who like an excellent video game there are plenty.
  11. Since I've known TDM, I've mentioned and comented it everywhere I went, including AlternativeTo. It is this, to make this game known, not necessarily that it is on Steam or another site, which in any case is not the most suitable for an OpenSource game. As I mentioned before, maybe it is a matter of talking with some Linux communities, to include TDM in the repository, at least in the main ones. But mainly that community members spread the word, better if it is in a technical forum or blog, visited by developers. Perhaps people are encouraged to get involved in development.
  12. Given its nature, the most appropriate place for TDM is in the Linux repositories, where mainly there are only crappy and outdated games from 20 years ago, some exceptions aside.
  13. Apart of Microsoft, another reason, why MS Store isn't a good idea. https://themarkup.org/blacklight Steam apears absolutly clean
  14. I am in Spain, I'm not physically young anymore and I don't need to sleep so much, that's why sometimes I'm involved in the network sometimes until quite late. As a retiree, I don't have to get up early in the morning either (one of the good things)
  15. MS Store also offers updates, but in general it is not recommended to download apps from this store, because it gives MS unnecessary control over this app. Over the years I have learned a golden rule, never download things from sites that are not the official page of it, this avoids all kinds of problems
  16. Ok, this sword was just a contribution and it doesn't bother me that someone uses my contributions, I think that in the OSS philosophy collaboration and sharing count, to achieve a result created by the community. Of course I will present different designs, I have time to do so, but others can also collaborate and modify my contributions or create their own works. With the online tools that I left behind, I believe that everyone can make good "paintings".
  17. I add a curious page that I found by chance looking for a sword. It's from nVidia and it's called Spade and it's an application (MIT license) that uses AI, which turns a rough drawing into a photorealistic image. As a demo they have an online app (GauGan) that uses this algorithm and that can be used freely.
  18. Microsoft Store include also FOSS, among others, also several distros de Linux. Another thing is that it is advisable to download the distros from there. It has already cost me enough to disable telemetry and other Windows 10 Spyware, which is possible, but not that simple at all.
  19. Remember, also GitHub, it is proprietary of Microsoft.
  20. To save a lot of searching, I have drawn a sword, for those who want to use it for their image.
  21. Ok, I suppose until November I will have some sketches. Apart from this, naturally others can also come up with some ideas, if they want. Sure, there are better artists here than me. Always better to have several options.
  22. I found this the other day, to get pictures, although I don't know if they can serve our purpose. It is from an artist who has released all his old works into the public domain, free for any use. But because it is freely downloadable, they come in a 90Gb ZIP, which obviously for me, with an SSD that has only 120Gb free is too much.
