      I'm actually asking for this thing because I have created a model in 3ds Max and I'm wondering if it will be useable. I dont even have DR on computer now, lol...

      Aye, GDG... you'd have to watch the light-count carefully. Even a shadow-mesh won't completely absolve you of that. Each light will double the polys of the model since Doom 3 will consider it all one surface. Fortunately, modern video-cards can chew through polys with ease. Not so for the CPU's and the shadow polys though... Anyway, it could work... just watch your light count.
