  1. That's true...I thought the same. Nice to hear your voice, Goldwell.
  2. True...The signs have been there for quite some time...with some better able predict what was coming. Yes...fortunately this has been identified by many in this community...Although, it is easy to see how a community newb may not see this, simply due to their lack of experience and reference...or even worse, the astro-turfer takes advantage of their inexperienced position, and uses them for their own interest. The relativistic white-washing, is designed to weaken the coherency that gives strength to a undesired collective awareness...A collective awareness, that runs contrary to that vested interest. This tactic is insidious, and is a detriment to community growth and resolve.
  3. It will be set 800,000 years in the future, and will be called Thief 2...The Morlock Age. The Thief-master general will be there in monkey form, always catching Garrett at the end of every mission...yet, always letting him slip through his monkey fingers... Basso is an angry rooster this time, pissed off at Garrett, because he falls in love with Jenivere...who is now a chicken.

    Thief 4 is trash.

Yes, there isn't any isolated HUD compass to be used in NuThief...Like AH said, a compass is integrated in the GPS mini-map and the main map only.

Not only do they repeat the same line over again, there are a lot of mixing problems...and the propagation is all screwed up...I'm kind of shocked at how bad this is, especially for a so called "Thief" game. I also noticed that torchlight sometimes goes through walls.

I agree, the Bank Heist came no where near the quality of TMA's "First City Bank and Trust"...not even close.

    Thief 4 is trash.

It's a mixed bag, and I'll probably have my review up by tomorrow...Once you get used to the movement limitations and how the stealth system works, it becomes better, although still frustrating...I see what they're trying to do here, and some of it actually has yielded some good results, mixed in with the bad...yet, this still should have been its own IP, in a stealth-play world, with its own completely separate lore...and yes, there isn't any relationship with the classic THIEF Universe, at all...just a few names as nods, nothing more. Some quick positives: NuCity jungle-gym design = Good spacial relationships and feel, with all the verticality and intertwining routes...although this fights against all the things you wish you could do, if it weren't for the contextual restrictions. Lots of small loading zones in NuCity, as well...This also becomes very tedious, and works against the multi-layered design, and flow of the game. Chapter 7: The Hidden City...has very good level design...This will be the standout level. There are plenty of negatives, as well...but I'll get into that later. Back into NuVerse I go...See you later.

    Thief 4 is trash.

Good luck, Spring...You'll get used to the movement, and that will help...yet, the inherent limitations to the movement capability will never be overcome. ...and that fucking flashing shroud will never cease to annoy. Plugging back into NuVerse...see you later.
  9. After playing through half of the game, I can assure everyone that there will little desire to mod it...Unfortunately, it's that bad.

I'm about half way through, and I can tell you right now that this is an embarrassment to the franchise...I'll give a detailed analysis later.

Of course that reason doesn't make any sense...which makes it even worse! Even if they were trying for precise facial expressions while the VA was talking, they still could have used SR with a mocap head rig and used the stuntman for the body animations, or simply done dialog replacement correctly for an excellent result. The truth of the matter is that they really didn't care enough about having SR in the project, otherwise they wouldn't have to make up such a weak excuse.
  12. Good one, Diego. Hey, this is turning into the fun thread...
  13. Except that NuThief is not good for the THIEF community, and NuThief will never be embraced by the THIEF community...and is likely to become the laughingstock of the franchise. So why would TDM be happy to be a part of it? Is it really worth associating with some uninspired, substandard derivative, simply because the name Thief is slapped on it?...Something that runs in opposition to a design philosophy that classic THIEF and TDM both share, aspire to, and fight for? Don't be fooled by false friendly faces...The only reason they are "recognizing" TDM, is because of a marketing tactic they wish to employ, to boost sales at the optimum time right before the release of NuThief...They are only using TDM for cold calculated purposes, in order to buy favor from certain community leaders, with the desire of affecting community disposition...not because they share any love or truth with the design philosophy that makes classic THIEF and TDM great.
  14. Well that's interesting news...Let's hope this doesn't drive a wedge in the community...and buy the hearts and minds of otherwise individuals of integrity.
  15. Yeah Viktoria, whatever do you mean?
  16. Stephane Roy just confirmed no editing tools for NuThief!

Beside the possibility that they may not be able due to licencing issues they may fear that the people won't buy any add-ons/dlc's if there were an editor to create custom levels.

But indeed, very short-sighted ... and sad.

Well, back then, we had expansion packs for games. The ones that were good and contained enough new content were successful, like Opposing Force. HL must be one of the most modded games of all time, and they still had successful expansion packs.

Kinda getting tired of this new business where the game companies sell this dlc crap. It's really annoying especially if it has storyline content or it's multiplayer and everyone just starts playing the new maps and doesn't play the old ones.

  17. By the way, speaking of modding...Stephane Roy has just confirmed that there won't be any editing tools for NuThief.
  18. Yet, I have just proven you wrong...so that means you choose to remain close-minded, regardless of the evidence.
  19. What you say is untrue...and is an example of ignorance ruling one's conclusions. There has been ample information, providing plenty of hard evidence for certain critical factors... 1) We already know the continuity of the THIEF Universe has been broken, which breaks the lore and cosmology into two separate universes...This in itself, is naturally heart-breaking to many fans, irrespective of the gameplay. 2) The gameplay uses a contextual-centric design approach (restricting granular freedom) and automation (restricting player control)...which will diminish organic exploration and emergent gameplay. 3) The stealth system, has been reduced to a crude version...without any granular visual feedback system, and without any substantial sonic feedback system...which will diminish intimacy and tension.
  20. Arbitrary positivity, in the context of a discussion thread, is just as stiffing to thoughtful discourse as its negative counterpart...and attempting in vain to contrive a positive or negative thread, will only lead to unnecessary strife and conflict, due to the unnaturally inflexible mental construct. The beauty lies within the natural process of open-minded discovery.
  21. Well, what do you know, it looks like a hoax after all. You can present any assertion you like, as open-mindedness is welcome here...yet, if you fail to provide a reasonable argument, it will rightfully be shot down for the falsehood that it is...thread title notwithstanding.
  22. Nothing is being sensationalized...EM has chosen to be disingenuous throughout the years, including statements and videos that claim NuThief has the "DNA" of a true THIEF game...which of course, it does not.
