  1. Who's the most experienced in modding etc amongst you guys? It mus be a close call between Orb and Sparhawk.

    Doom 3

That pic is the only one that looks odd though. His arm and shoulder area looks weird.
  3. Absolutely dbrilliant guys. Keep up the good work. The Thief community, even newbies like me, are really proud of you. If there was some sort of donation to speed things up I'd give a bit !!!! I'm going to really get down to learning Doom3 editor now!
  4. Hey OddBod...Do you have a pic of the Thief. Not the ones on the site, but the model for the Thief?
  5. I know someone who's quite dandy with photoshop. I'll see what I can do. Also I'm sure I saw somwhere a pic of the model for the Thief somewhere.

    Wallpapers

Are there any Dark Mod wallpapers? Sparhawk kindly linked me to a trailer for the mod done in 2004. Looks amazing then and can't wait for the final version. I particularly like the scene at the end of the trailer, where the Thief is up against a pillar overlooking a balcony. Is there any wall paper for that?
  7. The game linked to in this thread has an interesting method for opening lockers etc: http://forums.thedarkmod.com/index.php?showtopic=3853 You would not think of doing it like a command like some games do? Hitman etc.

    Doom 3

Cool. He knows his stuff. That picture of the acolyte/keeper looks very odd: http://www.mindplaces.com/darkmod/acolyte.jpg The other stuff looks class. Will this be what in game stuff will actually be like? Look as good as that. The buildings, characters etc?

    Doom 3

WHo deos most of the work on the team? You'll say all do the same, but someone or some people must be more keen then others?

    Doom 3

I only became a real fan after the much derided Deadly Shadows. I used to like MGS, till it went up it's own behind, still a great series if you play MGS3:Subsistence. Then I liked Splinter Cell, which is still the tensest stealth game for me. SC2 and 3, just looked better, but did't really improve on the formula, aswell as being linear. It's odd how UbiSoft Montreal, can make really great looking games, but can't seem to do open level design well. I then wanted something to satiate my Stealth game hunger between SC games, and picked up Thief DS. It was cool as hell. Garrett has to be the most likeable and cool character in stealth games, and you actuallycare about him. Something i couldn't say about Snake and Fisher. Thief has great story, character, levels etc.

    Doom 3

It's quite amazing that all you guys from different parts of the world, with different interests withing developing got together to do this. It's so different to the early days, when basically the programmer did everything.

    Doom 3

Cheers Buddy. The others reccomended what you said. I was starting Komag's tutorials for T3ED, first then move on to to DOOM3 by the time the DarkMod is out. I know one is additive and the other subtractive, but it should still be cool for experience.

    Doom 3

Cool man. where did you learn all your stuff from? I've asked most of the others from the team, and they seem to be self taught. I really feel bad that I've just been playing games since the early 80's rather then doing some developing etc. Is there any engine that can do both indoors and outdoors well?
  14. That picture of the model of a keeper that Oddity did the one in a sort of blue or turquoise robe looks weird. ALl the other models etc are seriously cool.
  15. Elite was a cool game. Quite possibly the first sandbox game out there.

    Doom 3

Even if I personally looked, I wouldn't be able to tell. I was reading the easiest game to mod and design levels etc for is Far Cry. I only played the outdoor part to it. Were the indoor parts any good? How did they stack up next to Doom3?

    Doom 3

How come the SDK for FEAR is very large and the other ones much smaller? Does this mean that you can do more in it?

    Doom 3

Cool Man. Do you reckon when it goes opensource, some folk will make the DarkMod look as good as Unrel3 stuff like Gears of War?
  19. Arumakani

    Doom 3

To import it or for the source code to become available?
  20. Arumakani

    Doom 3

Cool. Yeah the SDK may be useful. Would it be difficult to import DarkMod to it?

    Doom 3

That's odd I read loads of places that it does, but I just looked at this forum which is quite interesting and it seems you may be right BlackThief: http://www.pclincs.co.uk/Forums/showthread.php?threadid=8683 Also GameSpy collaborates what you say. http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/fear/513626p1.html

    Doom 3

I was wondering like what you were saying about Quake 4 possibly being able to run the DarkMod. Would that apply with FEAR too as it uses the Doom3 engine, but with a lot of tweaks, looks better than Doom3 and they've released their SDK too. http://games.softpedia.com/get/Tools/FEAR-SDK.shtml
  23. My brother loved that game I forgot to say that in Res Evil 1, when the dog jumps through the window the first time you walk down the corridor, I jumped off my chair Have you got that C64 joystick waith all the games on it sparhawk? They have Impossible Mission 1 &2 on it. http://www.urbanjunkie.co.uk/product.php/254/0/ I managed to pick one up for my brother for £7.99
  24. I can't remember most of the games from the Atari system I had in the early 80's. But for the C64 there were The Last ninja series, the first game I think was the first to use Isometric design. It was a good adventure game too. Impossible Mission was cool too. I had that C64 joystick recently that had loads of games on it including Impossible Mission 1 and 2. Though I still enjoyed them, they weren't as cool as I remember from my youth. International Karate and IK+ were cool, and way of the Exploding FIst and Fist II. Bionic Commandos was cool, Summer Games, Winter games... The old Zelda games were cool. I used to like those text adventure games too on the VIC 20. The Eye of the Beholder games were excellent too. They were better FP games for me then Doom etc. Tenchu was good as was the original Metal Gear Solid game. Resident Evil 1 was cool. I still remember the shock of seeing the first Zombie. It was great finding the stuff to solve puzzles etc. However that back and forwards gameplay got tiring after the first 3 games. I had really played them to death anyway especially number 2. The Ocarina of Time is simply one of the best games ever made. Mario 64 was cool too as was Mario Golf.
  25. Cool review. I'm gonna spend more time experimenting with this game. Too right about the big boys of the industry e.g. EA
