  1. Let me add though that the idea sounds cool. Maybe there would be some alternative entry or approach for players who don't want to risk the trap, and some hint that it exists
  2. I've never ever been able to learn any way to pick locks without anything other than stupid dumb luck, so such a trap would definitely not be welcome to me. (I can't hear or see anything indicative of when to let go of the pick - am I just being daft?)
  3. oops, I already restarted and quicksaved over it. I did notice that the good save was about 40mb and the new good quicksaves are also about 40mb but the bad quicksave was only about 6mb. If it happens again I'll copy the bad save file and let you know
  4. Google gives this many results: "1366x768" - about 10 million "1360x768" - about 1 million So it's somewhat common (with LCD TVs at least from browsing some of the results). I have to set the screen to 1:1 (centered) and I can see the 3 blank pixels on each side not being used
  5. Okay, after some more digging I've found something... It seems part of this problem is a Dark Mod bug - 1280x720 is really 1366x768 and 1366x768 is really 1280x720. So when I set to 1366x768 it is really set at 1280x720, just as I noticed. When it is set at 1280x720 it is really set at 1366x768, but this is not working correctly for me! My TV apparently can't properly accept 1366x768 through the VGA, even thought that's the TV's actual native resolution, but it CAN accept 1360x768 (very close), which is one of the detected options I get with the nVidia control panel. I am able to force Dark Mod to display at 1360x768 by adding it to an autoexec.cfg file within Doom3\base, which reads: seta r_customHeight "768" seta r_customWidth "1360" seta r_mode "-1" seta r_aspectratio 2 seta g_fov "100" so I guess my problem is basically as solved as it's going to get
  6. The issue is proper display of the 16x9 aspect ratios: 1280x720 1366x768 1920x1080 Okay, I'm going a little insane here. I brought up our LCD TV from downstairs and hooked it up in place of my 1440x900 monitor (the TV is 1366x768) When I set Dark Mod to 1280x720 (just for kicks), it doesn't display correctly: it sets my desktop all the way up to 1920x1080 (which the TV will take and just downsample to its native res) and shows Dark Mod in the upper left corner area (in a "window" that turns out to be 1366x768) Then when I set Dark Mod to 1366x768 (which is what I actually want) it will claim it's at 1366x768 but really it's running at 1280x720 (I'm sure of it - TV's set at 1:1 aspect ratio, no scaling involved, and I see the tell-tale border of a 720p image not scaled up to the TV's native 1366x768) What gives? If I set it to the full HD 1920x1080 it will run properly full screen (and my TV scales the image down to it's native 1366x768). But this is obviously not ideal Why doesn't 1280x720 work right? Much more importantly, why does 1366x768 run at 1280x720?????
  7. As I recall from last night - I'm pretty sure it did indeed crash when I did the quicksave, and that's why I finally called it a night and planned to play again today (it was very late and I was very tired). And it's entirely possible that guards may have been suspicious/alerted, but I'm quite sure I quicksaved and quickloaded multiple times before this when they were suspicious/alerted
  8. I haven't played any Dark Mod for months - but the past few days I've gotten set up on my other Vista machine, downloaded with the updater Dark Mod 1.02, set all my settings, downloaded No Honor Among Thieves, and played for a few hours. Made a named save once, it works fine. Made quick saves all the time, they always worked fine. Over various gameplay sessions, quicksave would load fine. But not now. I'm at the end of the first mission (I think it must be near the end) and now my quicksave won't load - always makes Doom3 crash. The old named save still works, but even if I load that one first, then hit quickload, it will then crash. (the load progress bar gets about halfway or so) How to diagnose? If I'm screwed that sucks because I really don't want to replay 3-4 hours of careful slow gameplay
  9. Ah, so the patch won't work properly on the torrented game, I see. You can buy the game for download if you don't want to order a boxed version from somewhere. Either way it's pretty inexpensive
  10. It might make it into an FM one day
  11. There is that C++ redistributable file thingy that you have to install, but that's it - it's nothing to do with actually coding anything in C++ yourself - just something that has to be on your system for DarkRadiant to run.
  12. grayman, I enjoyed your bio! 35 years in software, you must have seen it all! I also started modding in '94 with Doom, but I was just a college freshman, no clue about what was under the hood.
  13. You can try "FRAPS" demo version which allows 30 second clips. You can try Avidemux or VirtualDub to transcode the video you already have to a lower bitrate/filesize
  14. Very cool! (Any hope of fixing that water graphic-effect bug where anything in front of water is all wavery like it's underwater? You can see it on the bars in that last pic)

    T2X

Yes, GREAT game T2X, gotta replay it some time
  16. But something is weird with the candle light - on the table top it looks like the light only goes a few inches, but then you can see it on the walls around with chair shadows and everything
  17. I don't think there is anything to override as far as scroll speed. Scrolling really fast and not getting as much response as you want to happens in a lot of programs and I don't think DR is actually "decelerating" it or anything.
  18. You could simply use a windows app to do that with your mouse, might work for you
  19. I would suggest building in some extra walls and outbuildings attached, so that you have something to work with for making "corridors" and "rooms" out there. You might have to compromise a bit of your wide open building grounds vision, but not totally.
  20. That cave does look nice a cool place to check out!
  21. While I like the artwork, I have to agree with Springheel that it's strikes me as just too anachronistic. Sorta like all the crazy stuff they had on "The Flintstones" just to imitate 20th century lifestyle with stone-age tech. But there is good potential to adjust some features and make it work, I think
  22. Yes, just adding a few good visportals can "fix" a lot of that sort of thing, helps chop up the memory handling into manageable chunks
  23. But my 1.0.2 DID remember my size and position when not maximized. (although I don't remember if I had deleted the DarkRadiant folder before I originally upgraded to the 1.0.2 last winter, so maybe some of those files worked differently before and still worked to remember my window size/position and they are actually from an earlier version of DR) I did use dual monitors in years past, but not for a long time now, so in my case it's not that - though I guess it could still be SOMEHOW related, with the ATI Catalyst Control Center (currently showing only one monitor)
