Single Status Update

While I did find Springheel's brushwork pretty questionable, I guess engine performance must also have come a long way during the recent five years, because I can safely say that the kind of performance issues that he's talking about in this video, just didn't happen to me when I fully opened up my basement with all its unoptimized brushwork. The framerate was capped at a nice 60 FPS no matter how I tried, and with visportals on top of this, and the complexities turned into "func_static":s, an uncapped framerate would just be obscene, at least for graphics cards only a few years old. I no longer have any worries about large areas and vistas - I'll just go nuts. It's gonna be fine.

On some forums the culture is the opposite, where "necroing" old threads will make mods outright lock them. It's hard to tell.

Some mappers have made a special mappers topic. For example this thread:
Doing a lot of status updates in a short time makes it hard to follow less frequent posters. But this is partly a forum limitation, it should i.m.o. only show the most recent post of one user.

I thought that it wouldn't bother anyone, since basically nobody else was making status updates. Sometimes people want more activity on a forum.
...but, I think I've figured out a way to make "stealth updates": I don't think that replies to status updates show up on the front page. ...and so I bookmarked one of my former status updates, and intend to post my map updates in the form of replies to that single status update.
If that doesn't work, then my next plan it to simply edit my status update posts.
