  1. Thanks to the creator of this Mission, I really enjoyed it. I was stuck for ages trying to get into the bedroom because of something I read in a book about the cleaning closet. I spent too much time in there! I ghosted it, apart from the 2 murders which was quite tough. Stuck now finding the crows' stash but I have the rest done. I have 2 but cannot for the life of me find more but I'll get there. Great atmosphere in the mission too. Great job!
  2. Tried this mission and enjoyed it up until the fireball room. I hated it. I knew what I had to do, got the keys but then had an awful time trying to open the locks in the middle and gave up. I forgot which locks I had actually opened so I was going around trying to frob each of them again. I appreciate the work you put into it though and enjoyed the previous puzzle with the painting. edit: Actually just powered through it and got through the fireball puzzle. Now on the sneaking puzzle which is right up my street!
  3. There's nothing wrong with your monitor! You don't need to get an OLED. If you had a chance to try out a CRT again, see how you like it. There's a certain something and it could be nostalgia talking too, but it feels good playing these types of games on a good CRT. Not just the blacks either but everything together. You'll have to just try it and see:) If you don't no harm either. Not many people use them, maybe for a good reason!
  4. I suppose to compare the two you have to do it yourself. I think it is fantastic but that is just personal taste. You can find CRTs lying around for free these days so if you did want to check you could for not much money. Here is an unfair comparison. I actually still have one of them Sony 17" that you had in the attic!
  5. I think for me it adds to the atmosphere with how dark it can get. Especially in games where darkness is a big thing. I played a modded Morrowind playthrough and it was just sublime. I literally couldn't see anything walking around at night. I had to use a spell to see. Same in the Dark Mod. I finished Blackgrove Manor just now and the immersion was something else. I do have a decent 1440p monitor too and when I play with that it doesn't feel the same, I can see everything even with the brightness down. I suppose you just have to try and see for yourself. Mind you, this is in a pitch black room at night so...
  6. Thanks for this mission. I had a real blast playing it. I loved the fact that there was minimal enemies and in my opinion it was more enjoyable as a result. It is actually the first mission I got a 0 stealth score in! Not hard with this mission I know, but still. I loved the darkness and atmosphere. I play on a CRT with the brightness way down and had to use my lantern for the most part. When I stepped into the library for the first time from the tunnel it was absolutely gorgeous looking at the moon rays coming in through the window. If there were more enemies like others suggest I would not have been able to use the lantern as much and it would probably be fairly annoying. So it was perfect mission in that respect!
  7. That's ok, they're not for everyone. I guess I'm lucky never to have eyestrain from them and I could be hours at a time staring at it. The bulkiness I can relate to though for sure:) I suppose it's a trade off. I got a extra deep desk recently and it still hogs it.
  8. I know I'm late to the party but have you upgraded the PC yet? How did it go? My only advice and take this with a pinch of salt would be to get yourself a CRT monitor. Something like a Sony Trinitron. You wouldn't believe the difference it makes. Granted it is best at night in a pitch black room but you couldn't imagine how atmospheric it makes everything. I was using mine with a cheap amazon basics hdmi to vga converter with a 1050ti until I got a 980ti with analogue output but I don't notice any difference to be fair.
  9. Thanks everybody who made this fantastic mission. It is one of my favourites. One thing is puzzling me though and I have finished it on expert and ghosting it but I never got to use the 5 ancient artifacts. I see the picture on the wall in the bedroom and I even make a sketch of it and have the 5 artifacts but what do I do with them? I can see the guy in the picture is down at the throne in near the kitchen but I can't seem to drop or use the artifacts whatsoever. I'm sure I'm missing something easy. R.I.P. Grayman
  10. Thanks so much for the effort you put into this mission. I know I am probably way late to the party but getting around to some TDM missions now. I enjoyed it tremendously. I only got stuck on one part, finding the doll, I think it had to do with the fact that I started the mission and left it for a few days and forgot what was said in the intro. I'm trying to ghost missions now and this went very well. I killed a couple of spiders so not a perfect ghost but I hate them:). Love them in real life but these ones see me every single time and then the attack is so annoying. Anyway thanks again!
  11. It's a green spiky thing that lights up blue when I pick it up but it's not on a stand. It looks like a hand grenade. I think I need to play the mission again in case I broke something. I was up in that attic before I found out about the pagan orb.
  12. I was making a list of all the best fan missions to play and had downloaded a few of them to start and I have played about 6 so far. Then I thought why don't I just play them alphabetically from the mission download screen and so that is now what I intend to do because I might miss one. I then realised there might be a few 'series' that might not be alphabetical in that list and I don't want to play them out of order. Is that something that I should look out for? I have done the 4 Hidden Hands and the 2 Accountants and then Iris and House of Locked Secrets and then Requiem. That's it. I'm sure there are other Missions that connect to each other.
  13. I don't think it needs to be a spoiler but I'm having trouble with the Pagan Orb. I only read here that you have to be very gentle with it and let's just say I wasn't. I fired it across the rooftop to the terrace with the priest and then fired it up into the ducts then so I'd say it is well and truly broken. I thought I had a save before I picked it up but I don't, and the thing doesn't interact with the other part of the puzzle whatever I try. I tried everything, is it only a restart or is there a console command I can use? Thanks. Loving the mission so far.
  14. yeah, i find it awkward to hold down Ctrl while trying to move, Shift is ok and there isn't a big jump to Ctrl for the little finger but enough to make it uncomfortable. especially like you say you walk much slower so you need to hold it for longer.
  15. This was asked before and the answer was I think no but it was 12 years ago so just wondering if it is possible these days? Basically instead of holding down Ctrl to creep, how about toggling it so only have to press it once and release. Similar to crouch. thanks
  16. Hey, thanks for that. I remember it was in a small room with a desk but no idea where and spent a good 2 hours looking again so don't consider this cheating at all 'Enjoying' doesn't half cut it I'm afraid, I am absolutely blown away. I spent most of the day playing it yesterday, curtains closed and crt glowing. Just like the old days! Breathtaking experience so far and ghosting it and taking my sweet time only makes that better. Thanks for the tip and thanks for the mission! edit: Just finished this wonderful mission and finally found everything I was looking for. I heard there was an alternate ending so I tried to get that and I guessed right what I had to do. It said 10hrs 50mins but I feel it was way more than that. I tried my best ghosting it and did fairly well until later on and I was just running to find things. I didn't care who saw me at that point. I was only stuck on 2 parts which I had to get help with. Tobins room and the Ursine vault. I think what happened me on the Vault was that I played the first part on a 1440p Dell U2515h which is bright and colourful and then swapped it out halfway with an old Sony Trinitron 420GS. So much darker. Like nearly unplayable until I increased the gamma. It looked beautiful but of course I couldn't see anything!
  17. Wow, such a huge mission and so well done. I am having a blast at the minute. I have a problem however. I made it to the other side through the pump station and decided to check my map. I did pick up an "Old Map", I think it was of this area but when I pressed 'M' twice to pull up the old map it wasn't there. I must have reloaded after I picked it up and forgot where i picked it up from. Any chance if a spoiler where it is? All I can remember it was on a desk somewhere. No idea where though and it is a huge place!
  18. I'd second Mr Axels playthroughs. I love the commentary and the chillaxed atmosphere. I don't like "In your face" youtubers so this is spot on. Don't get me wrong, they can be annoying as hell and hard to watch. I especially hate the way he scrolls through the inventory but this has been said before. I also didn't like when he started knocking out guards but that is what it is. It's part of the game and that's the way he plays it but personally I find that if you have a really over cautious playing style it fits better to ghosting missions. One thing I was kind of disappointed about was the puzzles in The Hidden Hands Vitalic Fever. I was stumped for a good while on at least one bit and I was curious how he would manage it in a video. If he got stuck would he make a cut in the video and come back to it when he solved the puzzle or show the fumbling about? Well he didn't have any trouble whatsoever and I found that very hard to believe. For reference, he doesn't state anywhere that it is a BLIND playthrough but it's the feeling I got when I watched it. I was actually looking forward to seeing him suffer:) Saying all that, I still watch it now and then. I am trying to cut down on my youtube consumption. To me it is better to play the games than watch someone else play them. Then sometimes it is just nice to sit and relax with a TDM video on.
  19. I was also stuck at the end of the first mission. I was all over that room and even tried noclipping because I thought it was a glitch or something but fabulous mission so far. Looking back it is obvious that it must be there but I was looking around for hours going back and forth in the whole level. There is another letter on the floor of the other area, the study? and I thought it had fallen just out of reach.
