  1. Steam workshop sounds ideal for this. People can subscribe to free workshop items, which can be anything from mods to maps to ingame items or anything else. Anyone can submit workshop content.. so it would ease the burden on maintainers of the Steam release and let users access content faster. See here for an example https://steamcommunity.com/app/346110/workshop/ Official content could be released as DLC if it's significant enough
  2. OH! I might be on to something here. It's been a while since I tried to install this and forgot about something. On the download page (http://www.thedarkmod.com/download-the-mod/), step 1 says: ia32-libs was depreciated but it is a dependency of TDM.. and so I never installed it. I found some info about it on this link: http://askubuntu.com/questions/107230/what-happened-to-the-ia32-libs-package I tried installing lib32z1 lib32ncurses5 lib32bz2-1.0 as they were recommended in that (very old) thread. But it still didn't work. I think at least I know what might be going on now.
  3. Thanks. I've tried everything you suggested and went through and did some steps from your link and it's still not working. The best I can get it to do, is open up a game window for about 1 second, and it immediately disappears. From the terminal, it's segfaulting -------------------------------------- --- Common Initialization Complete --- ------------- Warnings --------------- during The Dark Mod initialization... 5. Hi. I've been searching around for help and I've found some similar reports but no solutions. I downloaded TDM yesterday. First time I tried to run it: The game went into fullscreen mode, and my desktop (KDE) was "kind of" showing on the screen- most of the screen was black but a small section of my desktop was all zoomed in and distorted. I could hear the TDM menu options click as I hovered my mouse over them, but could not see any part of the main menu.Googled, someone said to change resolution in the config. So I set r_customWidth and r_customHeight (2560x1440). Saved the config and
  6. I submitted the site to Digg a long while back.. http://digg.com/software/The_Dark_Mod_A_Do...the_Thief_games It almost had enough support to hit the front page (which would expose it to millions). I busted my ass trying to get people to sign up and support it, but unfortunately it wasn't enough. Maybe someone should re-submit it and have the fans here go there and digg it. And my topic here: http://forums.thedarkmod.com/index.php?showtopic=4253&hl=
  7. Sorry for being unclear. Here's a screenshot someone else posted on the TTLG forums http://www.directupload.net/show/d/781/IDTMArUx.jpg Just click the "digg it" link and that's it Thanks everyone for your support!!!! We're up to 35 diggs!
  8. I was hesitant to use the word saga in my post on digg.. but then I realized I wasn't referring to the Thief story itself, but rather the greatness of the Thief games overall. Either way.. so far we're getting some good support from the guys over at Eidos. One of the Eidos forum moderators posted a long and very good reply to the digg article. Check it out To everyone: It only takes a couple minutes to register on digg.com. We need all the help we can get to put this article on the front page.
  9. Thanks for pointing that out.. the forum trunicated the url because it was too long. Fixed with a tinyurl.
  10. I submitted an article to Digg.com about the Dark Mod and I really need everyone's help to get this on the front page. If we can get TDM on the front page of digg, that means hundreds of thousands of people who didn't already know the mod even existed will now know.... including people that could assist in the development of the mod. Which means we may get to play it sooner.. and could end up being 100x better. So please... DIGG IT (link fixed, thanks Vadrosaul) http://tinyurl.com/mle5v Now I'm off to the Eidos forums to post the same thing. UPDATE: I guess there isn't a timef
