Just bought "Dear Esther" standalone for $9.99 (£7 with bank charges), after watching the cave video -

Yes, I got it for £1.75 too. And no, it is not really a game, more a piece of artwork in navigable 3D. The graphics are probably the most attractive and realistic I have ever seen.

well, I got it too on steam summer sales for $2.5 Ultra cheap for an ultra beautiful game.

@Jay, I get your point. Dear Esther as an experience itself is like this walk-through poem thing, so it was made the way it needed to be made. My basic point is probably more like, as a longterm fan of IF, I'd hope the development of FP-IF would take a lot more notes from text IF to build gameplay into the storytelling, but yeah that's a different point from appreciating what DE itself was doing.
