Luckily he was not killed! Why start such an endeavor in the first place if you like to live?

The moment when he steps out of the capsule makes me feel all giddy

The future indeed. I like the concept of "property". But nowadays, even after a company has sold something to you, they still want to be able to own and control it.
-
Clearly the sky is falling.

Scientific publishers (Blackwell, Wiley, Taylor&Francis, Elsevier and so on) are among the least ethical companies out there. They operate with obscene profit margins, while scientific publishing typically nets the authors nothing (or, indeed, they have to pay for the honour of being published). Wouldn't shed a single tear if they got taken down a notch or two.

Created a wiki entry on howto create switchable windows :-D
-
New nick "Wikidude"
-
heh, I've only made a handful of wiki entries if that :-P
-
Never underestimate the power of the wiki entries! Individual mapper knowledge may or may not help the community, depending how active the mapper is in helping others. Wiki entries are great way to store the accumulated mapper knowledge for everyone. (Is the wiki data backuped by the way? Can a server failure make all the data disappear?) Sometimes I need to read my own wiki articles to remember how something was done...

anyone seen the star trek aniversery google logo, quite cool.

Its the anniversary of the original Star Trek series.
-
If it was the 50th anniversary, then yeah, that's a thing. But 46? Is 46 special? Does it matter?
-
meh, I see yer point. And I dont have love for most things google, but I thought the trek doodle was amusing.

So how many people has uninstalled or disabled Java on thier varius devices and computers..? as a result of the rescent threat.

so are the children, but that doesn't mean you have to keep any children or java in your household

lulz

i recently had a java based rootkit try to install itself on my computer, firefox let it in but my spyware blocker caught it and killed it.
-
This is quite cool, but you need Firefox 15 - https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/demos/detail/bananabread

Have people seen the new hotmail, oh dear god.. First the horribly simplistic interface that is metro and now this, again MS is telling us rather than asking us...

Its a popular trend in software development to needlessly refresh the UI whilst leaving issues unresolved on the backend. HM should get some better spam protection.

Just bought "Dear Esther" standalone for $9.99 (£7 with bank charges), after watching the cave video -

Yes, I got it for £1.75 too. And no, it is not really a game, more a piece of artwork in navigable 3D. The graphics are probably the most attractive and realistic I have ever seen.
-
well, I got it too on steam summer sales for $2.5 Ultra cheap for an ultra beautiful game.
-
@Jay, I get your point. Dear Esther as an experience itself is like this walk-through poem thing, so it was made the way it needed to be made. My basic point is probably more like, as a longterm fan of IF, I'd hope the development of FP-IF would take a lot more notes from text IF to build gameplay into the storytelling, but yeah that's a different point from appreciating what DE itself was doing.

Have you ever wanted race around a city...for real! -

Oh and it wasn't corporate whoring. The only message was the guy had to make his rendezvous, so drove fast past landmarks to get there.
-
Okay now we got a cool clip about nature and industry, but it lacks of something... Hmm what could it be? .. Ah! I know: BRING ME ... THE BICYLES !!!
;p
-
Hell yes.
Admittedly it's not the pinnacle of human creation (or philosophy) - but there is some attempt at thoughtfulness going on there. Where Mr Shoe Company says 'An Epic Use of an Iconic City' and then goes on to show a car doing 10 minutes of doughnuts in a road the bicycle film does bother to use the landscape to make the film look interesting.

MOD: Stalker on Cryengine3 - http://www.moddb.com/games/cryzone-sector-23 how bloody awesome is that.

From what I interpreted the moddb page saying, they released a CryEngine 2 beta to show to people before they moved to CE3, but attempting to use babelfish to translate their home page from Russian to English was frustrating, and babelfish couldn't handle their archives section for some reason, so unless some kindly Russian taffer can skim their archives for a CE2 release, I'll be stuck waiting for the CE3 release :|
-
Ooh, I just recently read The Roadside Picnic. Loved it, you can download it from the net for free. I dunno about those stalker games or mods though...
-
They don't have much to show off but go into the commercial business.. wtf

I get the retro stuff, sure. That's cool. I don't really understand how the haircut stuff plays in though... But I guess that's cool too, in a different way...
-
I don't think it is cool... but well I think its cool he managed to put his life on it. That's interesting.

So they have smoking ads on games now, even though they know they are mostly played by early teens? Those damn guys will never give up, will they, with their little subliminal messages, they are coming back hard on films and tv series too. Cool engine by the way.
-
Actually, what caught my eye was at 3:05. Texture-painting by hand. Dang cool.
-
@MD, yeah now if we had that in DR that would be extremely cool.

I have mixed feelings about the amateur space exp movement. Too much re-inventing the wheel. The real way forward (progress) is to build an electric rail-gun in space.
-
Railguns are so 2000s. Get me to the space elevator!
-
Very nice... Its funny how the feeling of vertigo from the speed and heights is suddenly replaced by the fear of loosing contact with earth and being "sucked" into that dark void. You almost welcome the fact that gravity pulls you again (well, and that you have a parachute)

They're like a Korean Morning Musume. ... Hmm so many of the comments descending into JPop vs KPop though... I lived in Seoul & Tokyo and liked both. For goodness sake it's not a competition of which is better.
