    "etc" or "ect"?

One quite subtle mistake which most people never pick and is used all the time is 'there's going to be 3 of them' See who can spot the mistake there. It's obvious when you know you're looking for a mistake, but no one ever picks it up in reality. Regardless, you know what's being said. It actlly amzng jst hw bdly wrds cn b speld and stl b udrstndbl. You really only need the consonants, and the context takes care of the rest.. I'm not sure why people are allowed to speak in various accents and slangs, you don't get any announcer on TV or radio these days who doesn't have a strong regional accent, but everyone is expected to write in a centrally controlled, uniform way.

    "etc" or "ect"?

I keep seeing people using 'women' in stead of 'women' which always annoys me. I mean, the first one is clearly the plural, how dumb can you get. Just goes to show the arbitrary mish-mash of bastardy that is the English language.

    It's always etc in English.
  4. That's what happens in every episode. The writers create a problem, and then they escape from it at the last minute by thinking up some totally ridiculous solution. It's no better or more intelligent writing that the A-team, where they would always escape at the end by making a tank from some old carpet tiles and coat hangers they find in a shed. Star Trek just uses a lot of big scientific words, but completely ignores their meaning or any logic. It's ultra-simplified, easy entertainment, and there are a million and one fundamental problems with the star trek universe, and it is perhaps the silliest show ever made that wasn't meant to be a comedy. People look back at the original shows now and laugh at their naivety, but I do the same for all star trek shows, the newer ones are just as stupid, they just look better.
  5. I have a walk animated, but its not in the game yet. http://www.pixelwerks.be/pictures/walkt.avi
  6. Yeah, yeah, but we've already established without a doubt that you're all hopeless sheep who follow every law, tradition, social convention, instinct, and every bit of biological and artificial engineering that has been hung around your necks since the day you were squirted out. Only 5% of your actions are actually your own conscious choice, impartially tested with logic and common sense, and 95% of your behaviour is given no more thought than any animal gives to its actions. I agree that anyone who doesn't inhabit your collective is obviously a weirdo who needs to be assimilated.
  7. I'm not finished contributing to it, I just haven't had any time.
  8. You say that as if it's inevitable, as if everyone experiences burnout at some point, but it's not the case. Only weak-minded individuals do so, and I'm not one of them, my will is as hard as nails, and my self-control is absolute, which is why I have no vices whatsoever, not even women can distract me from my path.
  9. Depends what you're doing with them. If you're literally just sitting around drinking and talking shit, then of course it's a waste of time. Doing nothing of any consequence like that is the very definition of wasting time, it's not just my opinion. Unless you're involved in something constructive or creative, you are wasting your time. I don't do that any more. In fact, I don't do anything any more that isn't constructive or creative, or related to improving my knowledge and abilities so I can be even more constructive and creative. I already wasted 10 years up to my late twenties fucking around doing nothing, and I'm not going to waste any more of my life. Playtime is for children, and I don't need any.
  10. Heh, I think what we're discovering here is that it's actually harder to use windows than linux, so windows users are actually the clever, adaptable ones who have to work around various problems, while linux users have a simple, hassle-free existence.
  11. No, you use it for the same reason everyone else does, because you can then laud it over the windows-using plebes. The one thing I've noticed ALL linux users have in common, is their taking of every opportunity to drone on endlessly about it, and insinuate how only the intellectual elite use linux (the perfect OS), and all the idiots use windows. What's actually true is that only nerdy little autistic computer geeks with glasses like the bottom of sawn-off coke bottles use linux, and everyone who's normal uses windows and shuts up about it. The worst thing that could happen to you nerds, is that everyone started using linux, because then you'd no longer be able to have you little delusions of superiority.
  12. This is the only app I've had any trouble with under Vista, so I'd point the finger at that. The only reason you don't have much trouble for linux versions of apps, is becasue 90% of apps don't even have a linux version. With the vast array of apps available for windows, 100X more than all other platforms combined, you have to expect to have issues with a few of them. Blaming the OS is an oversimplification. I suppose Linux is 100% bugfree is it?
  13. Lol, yes, but it's a self-contained system, your contributions, no matter how good, are only going towards producing more of the mindless entertainment I'm taking about. Your frivolous experiences in game worlds are not contributing to anything that is of any importance in the real world. Why is that a good thing? Why do you want to set up the pretence of being scared by playing a game? What purpose is it serving, other than cheap thrills? Of course, games are just one tentacle of the entire media and entertainment controlled world, which is one big system designed solely to provide cheap, puerile thrills to an increasingly lethargic public, which has become distracted and disengaged from anything of importance in the world. The few important people at the top do the important stuff as they see fit, while the rest of us just sit around and play in our own shit. Aldous Huxley had it right.
  14. Yeah, I did some models for this about a year before I joined TDM. They've been going at if for at least 6 years already. Still, the fact they've stuck with it so long, means they're probably going to stick with it to the finish, and they do have a track record of making finished games. They switched from and earlier version of UT to the latest version, so its not a huge leap. Those old low poly models I made are going to look like shit in the latest UT engine though.
  15. I'm not at home this weekend. Also, I want to to admit you downloaded the game illegally, no one buys that story that you gave about EB games.
  16. Again the inevitable comparison comes up between games and books/plays etc. You cannot compare them, apart from some superficial similarities, and you should really be able to work that out for yourself if you bother to consider it. As for escapism in any form, yes, I think it is bad, if only because it points to the fact that you have something to escape from. If your life is in a position where you need to frequently escape from it, then you should remedy the source of the problem. Within the various forms of escapism, those that take the form of pure, mindless distraction (computer games) are obviously of the least value.
  17. I'm pretty sure you cannot affect the amount of smoothing in Doom by adjusting it in LW though, it's either on or off I think (but then it's ages since I've done any modleing for the doom engine :/
  18. And I think, if you want to get anywhere in life, you should avoid all contact with modern trash culture and concentrate on self-improvement. Nothing keeps people cowed and genericised more than the relentless distractions of the modern media controlled dumbed down society. Just say 'no' to it.
  19. I'd LOVE to, but unfortunately, I've got a lot more constructive things to do with my time. Pity.
  20. I don't need the money, and I see the selling of mind-rotting games to the sort of vegetables who would buy them is no better than drug dealing. I don't despise them, but pity them. That's what computer games are, just another mind control drug, a way of escaping reality.
  21. I prefer to call it catharsis, and not many unstoppable juveniles even know that word.
  22. Bleh. I have a copy of Stalker I got with my video card which I haven't even opened, and never will. In fact, I think I'll go and smash the stupid kiddie content disk up now just for fun...
  23. I am actually going to do some new heads. Sometime. There are a lot of great character portraits in the Louvre which I copy for practice, so you may as well use them.
  24. Well, you shouldn't have scared him off by being nasty to him then.
