Idea: Thief 3 style missions.
One of the great features of Thief 3 are missions defided in small segments with loading screens when you move from segment to segment. We all miss those right? I was thinking of mapping only horizontal, so not stacked. When you go up or down (stairs or elevator), you get a 20 seconds fake loading screen where you can play a minigame (The Builder's Blocks?). After that you get teleported to a different area that seems to be on top of the first, but actually isn't in the map file. It's much easier mapping, because you can see everything in one glance from above. This could also give more freedom building, because it doesn't have to fit. Everything is predictable because guards don't move to different sections.
This could be used for the Thief 3 contest possibly..

Sorry for my absence. I am recovering from a recent Covid infection. Dr told me I can return to work ( wfh ) Sunday. Not sure about that timetable…

Oh man, mine was terrible, worst flu like symptoms I've ever had.
Hope you get through it ok. As mentioned Physics Girl Diana is basically a vegetable in the hospital, can't eat herself, sleeps all day. Haven't had an update in 4 months, hope she's doing better, but I doubt it, otherwise they probably would have updated us by now.

AMD 6xxx users, there are some credible reports that the latest WHQL driver "Adrenalin 22.11.2" is allowing the GPU to damage itself due to either thermal or electrical variance. Revert your driver or enforce power \ thermal limits where possible.

Tried to make a tdm advertisement commentpost at one of civvie11 youtube videos about T2. Post got marked as spam. His problem (to not discover TDM for himself),..not my problem.
But some help of some fellow TDM yt-videocomment posters would be nice. To ask him and others, to play TDM. To get more players/creators.

Youtube automatically removes comments with certain words in them, so no swearing.
Some comments that include words that could trigger or cause harm like suicide, rape etc, can also be removed automatically.
No warning is given, you see the comment posted then when you go back, it's gone.

Anyone here played Inscryption? At first, I was like "no, I am not going to play a stupid card game", but this game is so much more than that. It is so meta, full of 4th wall breaks, and feels so damn spooky and weird because of it. Absolutely recommended, if you can stand the visuals. I recommend not reading up too much on it, as that could easily spoil half the incredible surprises. Just know that what you see in the beginning is by far not everything.

After watching the first three and a half episodes of "The Sandman" last night, I realize once again that overly imaginative narratives are not for me. Also, the main actor looks like he has a toothache.
Which makes me wonder, is there a Dark Mod mission with a medieval dentist?
-
The sandman from the comics seems to match well with the actor they used, I like it.
American Gods and Sandman were both adapted from books/graphic novels written by Neil Gaiman so makes sense that they would feel similar.
Honestly would suggest you read his books if you haven't. Ocean at the End of the Lane, Neverwhere, American Gods, Stardust, Coraline, Good Omens, Interworld, The Graveyard Book etc etc. One thing to keep in mind, Neil Gaiman likes to write melancholy endings. They usually don't end with "And they all lived happily ever after", though they are not exactly sad endings. There's a finality to a lot of them that often leave me a little sad. There's real consequences at the ends. Especially Stardust and The Ocean at the End of the Lane.

Does anyone ever actually read these status updates?

Be honest: Who of you have actually finished Cuphead? This game is freaking tough! It might even be harder than Sekiro. Dark Souls is a joke in comparison to Cuphead! :-D

Since Aluminum directed me here ( https://forums.thedarkmod.com/index.php?/topic/9082-newbie-darkradiant-questions/page/437/#comment-475263 ) can we have unlimited renderer effects? Well, maybe not unlimited, by maybe 3-5? Thanks.

Listen, I'm not mad, scripters. Well, maybe just a little upset, but mostly bewildered.
I'm reading all these script files, and their indentation, and I'm just picturing some sort of frat party going on, where everybody is plastered, and is sometimes just making out while sitting on the spacebar.
I mean you have heard of indentation, right? ...like properly nested indentation?
...because the first time I looked at one of your script files, I was like "Oh! So this is a sort of indentation based nesting, that looks very complex now, but which I'm just going to have to learn.".
...but no. Apparently this is obfuscation that makes every script look like "ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn".
Why?
Just why?

I see what you're saying about the def files.
So I went through and fixed them all. Here's an example. I turned this god awful mess:
/*********************************************************************** Simple Vehicle ***********************************************************************/ export fred { options -prefix LOCUST_ -align ALL -keep Eyes -parent Eyes Body -keep SteeringWheel -parent SteeringWheel Body mesh models/vehicles/buggy/buggy.mb anim models/vehicles/buggy/buggy.mb } model env_simplebuggy { mesh models/md5/vehicles/buggy/buggy.md5mesh anim af_pose models/md5/vehicles/buggy/buggy.md5anim } entityDef env_simplebuggy { "inherit" "atdm:entity_base" "editor_color" "1 .5 0" "editor_mins" "-8 -8 -8" "editor_maxs" "8 8 8" "editor_ragdoll" "1" "editor_usage" "Vehicle." "spawnclass" "idAFEntity_VehicleSimple" // "sleep" "1" "model" "env_simplebuggy" "articulatedFigure" "env_vehicle_simplebuggy.af" "wheelJointFrontLeft" "buggy_front_left_wheel" "wheelJointFrontRight" "buggy_front_right_wheel" "wheelJointRearLeft" "buggy_rear_left_wheel" "wheelJointRearRight" "buggy_rear_right_wheel" "eyesJoint" "buggy_eye" "steeringWheelJoint" "SteeringWheel" "wheelRadius" "18" "frobable" "1" "frob_action_script" "frob_vehicle_pulled" }
Into this:
/***********************************************************************Simple Vehicle***********************************************************************/export fred { options -prefix LOCUST_ -align ALL -keep Eyes -parent Eyes Body -keep SteeringWheel -parent SteeringWheel Body mesh models/vehicles/buggy/buggy.mb anim models/vehicles/buggy/buggy.mb}model env_simplebuggy { mesh models/md5/vehicles/buggy/buggy.md5mesh anim af_pose models/md5/vehicles/buggy/buggy.md5anim}entityDef env_simplebuggy { "inherit" "atdm:entity_base" "editor_color" "1 .5 0" "editor_mins" "-8 -8 -8" "editor_maxs" "8 8 8" "editor_ragdoll" "1" "editor_usage" "Vehicle." "spawnclass" "idAFEntity_VehicleSimple" // "sleep" "1" "model" "env_simplebuggy" "articulatedFigure" "env_vehicle_simplebuggy.af" "wheelJointFrontLeft" "buggy_front_left_wheel" "wheelJointFrontRight" "buggy_front_right_wheel" "wheelJointRearLeft" "buggy_rear_left_wheel" "wheelJointRearRight" "buggy_rear_right_wheel" "eyesJoint" "buggy_eye" "steeringWheelJoint" "SteeringWheel" "wheelRadius" "18" "frobable" "1" "frob_action_script" "frob_vehicle_pulled"}
So much better, and the game still works!!!

Don't think your opinion is really going to matter in the long run. Every new person who comes through and adds/edits the scripts, is going to tab/space like they are accustomed to and screw it all up again.
The engine doesn't care so it's going to continue working just fine.
Also, you don't have to fix anything, you want to fix it because it bothers you so much. No one here asked you to do this, if you want to take the initiative to fix it, go for it. But I can almost guarantee that your perfect formatting won't last.
