Open darkmod.cfg. At the bottom type bind F8 "condump blackscreen.txt" Go into the game, then press F8. You MIGHT get text file in the Dark Mod directory called blackscreen.txt. If you do, post it here.

Ok so I think I might have found the reason for the performance delta between my wife's computer and mine. While working on getting the Nvidia card working, I manually set the 1st PCIe slot to x16 Gen4, whereas it was at 4x Gen3 before. HWinfo confirms this: (PCIe v4.0 x16 (16.0 GT/s) @ x16 (16.0 GT/s)) Now in Scroll of Remembrance at the start, I get 140 fps. Must have been bandwidth starved at 4x Gen3 PCIe.

Well even at full PhysX rendering the Nvidia GPU is using about 40 watts. Compared to the output of the 14700k and 7900XTX at 360 FPS output, it's not even noticeable.

So I did something a bit nuts last night. I've been wanting to replay some old games that heavily used PhysX, but they run like crap on my AMD Radeon system. Games like Mirror's Edge 1, Batman series, Metro Exodus, Boderlands 2 etc. I had a spare EVGA 980ti sitting on the shelf, so took the computer apart and added it to my system. After playing around with PCIe lane splitting, I was able to get 8x Gen4 to the 7900XTX, 4x Gen 3 to the 980ti. Also, using the DirectX to Vulkan wrapper for Mirror's Edge, I was playing the game at 1440p, 360 fps, with PhysX on and it just worked. I did have to do some fiddling with software though, installed JUST the graphics driver from 2021, no control panel, and latest PhysX software. Of course you have to fiddle with each game to get it to use the latest physx binaries instead of the included ancient ones, but once I got it working, Batman Arkham City benchmark was running at an average 240 fps with Max of 360 fps with PhysX on.

Nice, I'm a big fan, have the Keychron Q6 and V6 (full size). The new pro and max versions of the keyboards use wireless dongles or bluetooth if you want. I never did understand the point of wireless keyboards that just stay at a desk though, just plug it in.

The maps would have to be redone for real time lighting in mind. There's random point lights everywhere that make no physical sense. Would be nice if Le corbeau would release his updated source code though.

Seriously, if devs are never allowed to make changes that break things, then the mod never moves forward. It's a bandaid, rip it off, get it done. That's the point of dev builds. And if people are downloading DEVELOPMENT BUILDS to play the mod and shits broken, guess what, they should have read the very first post of this thread. For the people eager to play with the latest state of development P.S. Needless to say, all of this comes with no support. Although we would be glad if you catch and report bugs before the next beta phase starts

What is your r_aspectRatio set to? What is your FOV set to? What is your resolution? Are you fullscreen or windowed? Windows or Linux? What version of TDM are you using? Intel, AMD or Nvidia GPU? Are you on the latest drivers? Can you post the contents of your darkmod.cfg file here please. You need to go through tech support first before opening a bug report.

You can't softlock by getting stuck in this game, open console type "noclip" and fly to wherever you need to. But yeah, it is a bug.

What???? You're on Windows 7, from 2009, with updates that ended 4 years ago. Windows 10 Pro key is like 20$. Why do you feel it's fair to expect Microsoft to continue to support an OS that's 4 versions out of date? I really don't like defending M$, but in this case, this is a little much. I hope your Linux experiences are better than mine were, as even on bog standard hardware it was nothing but crash city and bugs on 3 different distros.
