  1. Ok that makes sense, so without the fog there the visportal would be open anyways.
  2. So if fog keeps all visportals in the same visleaf open, doesn't that cause performance issues?
  3. You can also type in the console: listCvars And every single CVAR will be listed. Then you can type condump cvarlist.txt and Darkmod will create a text file of your console history called cvarlist.txt. Useful if you want to see what commands you can use. Wow, we're up to 1042 CVARs
  4. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BgDrQSpSvcv4E6ENQ_l4dGlGqIBhIgV6/view?usp=sharing
  5. I posted a demo from Humus a while ago, would take quite some work to get the technique added.
  6. If you backed the project at a certain level, you get access to the beta, which is complete.
  7. Looking awesome, but watch out for those glass panes. I set them to sort nearest, which should layer them properly, but it is also the most demanding on the renderer. AFAIK
  8. Unfortunately, QD is probably going to kill micro led
  9. It's certainly going to have that Bethesda jank though. Anyone thinking it's going to be flawless need to adjust their expectations.
  10. Unfortunately Moobo retired from mission making. (AFAIK) I do need to pick up that book, thanks for reminding me. I'd LOVE another Moonbo mission.
  11. Well I bit the bullet and ordered a Radeon 7900 XTX (https://www.msi.com/Graphics-Card/Radeon-RX-7900-XTX-GAMING-TRIO-CLASSIC-24G/Specification). I really wanted to switch back to Nvidia because of the various AMD driver bugs that caused me Darkmod grief, but then I realized @stgatilov wouldn't have a computer to remotely debug anymore. And of course Nvidia's ridiculous pricing is just stupid.
  12. How does it run at 400fps? Seems to run smoothly at 800-900 fps.
  13. That's very true, and I've mentioned this before, but Respawn used a heavily modified version of DarkRadiant for making maps for Titanfall 1.
  14. Keep in mind also that mission size, and complexity have increased dramatically since the beginning. For a lot of veteran mappers, it can take over a year to get a map made and released. The last dozen missions have for the most part been pretty massive, with new textures, sounds, scripts, models etc. We seem to be long past the point of people loading up the tools, and banging out a mission in a few weeks that's very barebones. We still do see some of those, but I noticed in the beta mapper forums and on Discord, that mappers seem to make these maps, but don't release them, and instead use the knowledge gained to make something even better. Could just be bias on my part scrolling through the forums and discord server though.
  15. I do find that UE5 has a distinctive look, like blurry low res rendering while moving that is very discernible. I can usually tell the engine just by how it feels/looks in general.
  16. There is no SS3, how can they do a remake? And thank god they got rid of unity, that engine is total trash garbage on anything over 60 fps. Just spend 5 minutes on steam forums for Unity project games, and there's just thousands of people complaining about poor performance, stuttering etc.
  17. Well I can only speak to my own experience with AM4. I went from 1800x to 2700x to 3900x to 5800x with nothing more than opening case, take off cooler, put in new CPU and enjoy more performance. Each new CPU gave me better and more stable frames in the games I was playing.
  18. AM4 dead platform at this point, save up some more for AM5, expected to have updates for 5 years at least. 7700X on AM5 will smoke the 5700X, though it won't be as cheap. So save up some more. To be fair, the 5700X is still a good CPU, it just doesn't really give you an upgrade path.
  19. I don't know if this was added to TDM, but this same formatting is also in quake 3 arena and quake live.
  20. There's a bug report opened. https://bugs.thedarkmod.com/view.php?id=6254 Keep in mind, this isn't new. This appears to have been broken since 2.05. Maybe it started working again some time between, but it got fixed in 2.03, still worked in 2.04, then stopped working in 2.05. I stopped testing at that point.
  21. Appears all the links in that thread are dead and gone. I don't think Tels is around anymore either.
