Shouldering bodies on frob is a legit proposal worth discussing.

I won't however take as a valid argument that "players" are dismissing TDM because "you cannot shoulder bodies in TDM" or "shouldering bodies in TDM requires two clicks". We know what kind of players we are talking about and these players won't embrace TDM for what it is for as long as they have a place in their current universe.

It is my impression that all this started on the wrong foot with a single goal in mind. No second thought or regard for anything else.

    Its not that people are dismissing the game because of lack of shouldering, but rather a combination of things. That would be a real argument that the following occurs;

    1. People don't know how to keep from making noise when moving stuff around (holding creep).

    2. People don't know when black jacking works and when it doesn't (general options menu toggle).

    3. Blackjack hits overhead stone overhead archway or wooden foundation (was fixed).

    4. Picking up a blackjacked guard should be easy and players should know how to do it right away (new).

    5. Not know how to extinguish candles and lanterns (easier and new).

    6. Not knowing about general gameplay tips specific to missions (new).

    7. Not being able to use favorite addons together (new).

    8. Being able to know how much loot is left in a mission and mission stats like stealth score mid mission to properly ghost w/o too much spent on replaying parts of a mission (pending and in a addon).

    9. Guards either searching for the noise disturbance for too long, or giving up too quickly and thus making some small missions either really tough for small mistakes or far too easy to get through (difficulty changes proposed by some).

Many of these are not fixable without a global tip system for first time players, a expanded tutorial mission, and quality of life changes (a general gameplay change is not always about accessibility, options and cvars exist for that reason, but sometimes its about making it so that a button press should do what most players intentions aim to do, 95% of the time.

Sorry I'm still confused as to why players are having such a hard time pressing two buttons in rapid succession for shouldering a KO'ed guard.

Right click to Frob the body, and Mouse5 for shouldering. I'm like, old now, and I can still do it almost instantly.

Because you learned to adapt to the nuisance. It doesnt make it less of a hindrance to new players. An argument from experience to correct a issue, New players getting frustrated and not knowing useful mechanics is kinda the point of the change. While at the same time keeping minimal hud.

  3. Just finished this. One of the easier missions except in that nightmare realm. I couldn't find all the loot for a change. But that might me a positive since many people might be looking for a challenge. The loot was definitely a warm welcome from me to not know they the heck I can open certain doors and get around the environment outside in the floating space between realms. Of course there was new assets galore in this which I sppreciated.

  4. Will you guys be releasing an update early to fix the crash from when you try using a bow? That wasn't listed as one of the bugs fixed but its a pretty serious issue on some maps where you pretty much have to use the bow quite a bit.

  5. I think this is the best haunted mission released, though I'm having some trouble finding the location of the attic. Found pretty much everything else.

That's not exactly what I mean — I am referring to the fact the the whole mansion interior seems to be lit at a fairly constant level, even without any visible light sources. The line about "I need to get the lights on" falls a little flat when I can already see perfectly fine with the lights off. Maybe I'm just playing with a much higher brightness/gamma than expected, although I haven't noticed this appearance in other missions.

I wonder if it would be creepier if the interior was almost pitch-black, except around windows? Perhaps those weird noises would be even weirder if you can barely see anything outside the radius of your own hooded lantern (which in turn makes you visible and vulnerable). There would then be a more significant difference (and sense of relief) when you finally get the lights on. Of course this would be a dramatic change from the mission as it currently is, but might be worth experimenting with.

Its not just you, I can also see pretty much fine and I actually lowered the brightness to compensate.

The issue that I see is that the near Bridge street shop/shack is a woodsie Apothecary place but you can't enter into. The key to the door is on the inside. The other issue I found is:
    Spoiler

Marlowe is on Lower street, not the Bridge street as the clue/letter suggests to us. Even stranger you have to wait for the guard to exit the "club" AKA gambling den to snatch the key to that place.

  7. Its not just the US. Same thing is happening in Sweden. Peaceful protestors get barraged with police, arrested and beaten. But if its afghan or middle-eastern rioters then the police stand down. Extra funds won't solve a issue of weak will i.e liberal egalitarian materialists.

  8. Didn't even have time to finish watching it and someone already posted and replied to the video XD. Anybody who's a fan of Solomon Kane and the public domain audiobooks is alright in my book. Man America is worse than any other place in the world. Blacks and illegal mexicans can murder, kidnap and torture whites in San Franscisco and Chicago, and can then get probation with the only crime they are guilty of according to those states & their judges is being caught carrying a gun. This is what happens when you let materialist leftists be in charge of anything. People where willing to start a civil war 100 years over a new tax, these days outright murder is glossed over.

  9. Speaking of the logo - what is the name of the "official" tdm font(s)? I have been adding the logo and FM name to the official screenshots myself, but it would look nicer if the text matched the font in the logo. I looked in the wiki, but could find nothing there.

    Edit:

Also: does anyone know which FM these screenshots come from? I could not figure it out myself:

I've added the font to the wiki, specifically in Font Screenshots.

  10. I notice that the intro text doesn't mention that we were listed as #2 on PC Gamer's The 50 Best Free PC games list last summer. That should be mentioned in the first paragraph. Talking about winning "best mod" just reinforces the confusion over whether we're still a mod or not-- not to mention that talking about accolades from 4 years ago makes us look out of date.

This endeavor wasn't supposed to be just about getting approved though. This is supposed to be about advertising TDM to new audiences and letting people know what a high quality project it is. That requires putting our best, most professional face forward, and that is not what has happened.

Give Goldwell the rights to manage the steam page. That should have been the strategy from the get go, the best conceptual or lead designer should be the front man, with a couple of dedicated community managers. Preferably people with experience with that, not just on thief sites but in general.

I second the notion on accepting donations but entirely for server costs.

I am unsure of how usable this is due to music (I know for a fact I cannot make money off of it), but it may or may not be what is needed, or a good model for what we could be doing.

Thats fu#$ing badass. +1, people like stuff like that, although thats not the best first impression because we are about stealth. But definitely a portion of a streamlined trailer should be showcasing badassery. Goldwell's first cut is really good from a technical, informational and faithfulness standpoint.
