great work the only part I don't like is the head. IMO hammerites normally don't wear helmets. 2nd I miss the typical collar. both, hammerites and mechanists had a collar. I'm not very skilled in doing concept sketches, so I photoshoped my suggestion :

here's the first castle wall texture: http://208.49.149.118/TheDarkMod/Textures/cas-wall1.jpg I know 1024x1024 is a little bit too big for the texture - the optimal size would be around 800x800 so you've to scale it down a bit in the editor... I'll try to make good normalmap for it.

looks good so far - you should also make the nails stand out a bit.

I sent a PM to Friendly today. He's the admin of thief2.de and a works as a professional game developer. He was interested in our mod, however he just starts modelling - normally he does leveldesign and textures. but I believe he would be able to do some furniture and stuff.

well, the best would be, if you'd send the stuff to me and I'd try it myself. If I'm successfull, I'll tell you, how I've done it I just can't say "do this 1st and after that do this" - I've to try it myself.

another texture from the castle - and I've to say, that I really love this door I was walking into the castle and suddenly I saw this door. My first thought was something "Damn this door really rocks, this fits perfectly into the thiefworld" http://208.49.149.118/TheDarkMod/Textures/massive-door.jpg I hope you guys like it, as I do edit: the knocker should be a seperate object ingame, or added to the door model.

I'm back from my trip to the castle with a bunch of photos. The 1st texture is already on the ftp: http://208.49.149.118/TheDarkMod/Textures/door2.jpg @renz I don't think we should downsize the textures, just that they fit easier. IMO there won't be any problems with huge high-res textures, cauze 1. our mod will take some time and people will have even better hardware than today 2. HD space also shouldn't be a problem - today almost everybody has more than 100gb HD.

it's on the ftp. probably you've to tweak it a little bit, cauze I think the normalmaps aren't shown properly on thief 3's doors. it's really strange....

believe me - it also looks like this in reality. take a look at the original photo: http://www.dark-project.com/BlackThief/furniture.jpg I think 1024 are not necessary, but if it's possible, why loose quality ?

another wooden texture - alrady uploaded it on the ftp: http://208.49.149.118/TheDarkMod/Textures/wdn-panel.ceil.jpg I think it'll look good as ceiling and as a panel. the only problem will be the map for it, cauze of the detailed carved frame. looking forward to see this ingame - I made the texture using a photo of my grandma's desk she's got some really nice furniture in her living room - I'll make some more textures with suff of this room.

...and another victorian wood texture - actually I'm very proud of it, cauze it's a really good looking high-res texture, however I didn't get the right color, so that it doesn't fit to the other wooden stuff I made here are 4 different versions (the 1st is the original) - maybe someone else can do the color-work better, so that it'll fit better to the other stuff... 1. version 2. version 3. version 4. version I think the texture will look good at the upper edge of a wall. I don't know how you call it in english.

great screen can't wait to see this room with objects - some nice torches on the wall, some paintings, a fire (I believe doom3 has great fire-effects), a plant in the corner, a candle on the fireplace.....uhh....I'm dreaming

great work man I hope I get D3 tomorrow in the computer store, where I buy my new computer components. If everything works fine I'll be able to play D3 on highest-details in 2 days BTW: as soon as you've got your ceiling we should post this screen in the ttlg-forums, I think people will be really impressed.

I would suggest you make the normal texture (with lattice) transparent and translucent and then put the lattice on it. of course everything must fit exactly, but I think this will look best. I tried to make a no lattice version, but it looks like crap, cauze of the dirt and some other things on the glass, that is dependent to the lattice. I hope you understand, what I mean - sometimes it's hard to explain in english edit: a new wallpaper

to be honest I don't like this proposal. It just doesn't look like a lightgem anymore. I thought, that we wanna give the taffers the real thief-feeling back, that they sometimes missed in thief 3. I added NewHorizon's lightgem into Renzatic's test-screen - I think THAT looks like Thief, doesn't it ? http://www.dark-project.com/BlackThief/light-gem-test.jpg

I'll try it, but I can't promise you that the non-lattice version will look good....I think it won't look realistic if you put a different lattice on it, but nevertheless I'll try it.

hm, IMHO it doesn't look like a real window...I haven't seen any window like this before I would take out the rings - maybe like this:
