I know Blendo Games, I have bought the game Flotilla recently, made by them. Haven't had a chance to play it, yet.

Well the films are the source, and they are a good source.
I just wish they cared more of the byproducts. At least as much as Star Wars, or Warhammer40k. License has so much potential. If they are this aggressive against a mod they should be stricter all around.
-
you need permission from Tolkien's remaining family before you can do any game from a Tolkien book if they never bothered to get it then there's nothing they can do. if they copied the film then they ran into film copyright issues, they should have requested permission.

I know they need permission in order to continue, i just dont like the fact how 'paid for the rights' is their only way.Even that these rights are used to create LotrOnline, War in the north and other nonsense..they let stuff like these happen and dare worry about a bunch of people doing a mod that it may damage value of rights.
I am not right by law i know, but i think it would be fair if they got permission. At least a chance to do something worthy with the license.

First I was like "sure, but Rhinoceros can do that and much more", but then they started showing that sketching functionality, which is amazing! Never seen that before, such freedom... I need a pen pad...

I love the cloth making.

This is the most awesome thing I've seen in awhile. It's like spline modelling, but not nearly so turgid when converting down to polygons.
I gotta try this out.

Reading this the welcome speech of the Tdm's moddb site and homepage came to mind, not that they're bad but that they could benefit from these ideas, especially the moddb one.

Yep. And I'm an asshole, apparently! lol

From the wording of the link, I was expecting a "let's-sneer-at-the-noobie-retards" article (which I can find quite funny if I'm in the mood) - it's actually thought-provoking, concise and funny in a self-deprecating way. Thanks for posting it.
