But through walls is a bit to much
'tis coding, friend, 'tis coding. As far as I understand, there is no way to distinguish between wall or no wall when it comes to damage auras. Or at least that's what Fieldmedic tells a simpleton like me. For all I know about coding he could be a wizard working magic

Yes, that was a compliment to your nice library before I veered off and startled rambling about my own ideas
-
Digging that library, Siyah, digging it indeed. I'll have to spank Fieldmedic into building something similar for me one of these days, just so I can write a whimsical tale of a scribe trying to loan a book while dodging overzealous, sword-armed librarians....
One of these days....

Is there a health poison on this mission or do I have to reload a save every time a ghost goes past me. They even kill me through walls
There are health potions, check your inventory. However, bear in mind that...
the ghosts insta-kill you if they come too close
I know it's hard, but it was meant to be so.

Man I am an idiot
I've just found his beheaded body and been told to chase the thief but whichever way I go it says mission failed and I "die". What am I missing here?
=-(
Tcha, no need to feel so glum! Just...
Follow the footsteps. From the study, go left. Then left down the hall. Then left down the door that opens.

I reckon I could do it easily enough. Give me some directions on whatcha need and I'll have a shot at it.

After a long hibernation and many months of hard work, it seems that I will finally have some free time to spare once more. Not only that, but I have been hard at work crafting a map inside my mind. That is, plot, flow and layout. From the looks of most maps, it promises to be a rather unique experience. I'd rather be vague, as I would hate to spoil its content. But if any map-makers are interested in doing a joint project with a hungry Swedish writer, then don't hesitate to chat me up.

Neeeeiin!
I have been following this contest from the shadows and I gotta say, Siyah, you withdrawing puts a dent in the contest. Very sorry to see this happen. Still! Do not give up on contests or map-making!

STUFF
Oooh, I love those images. Real nice mood there with the fog and lightning. Can't wait to see what it'll be like once finished.

Completed...
Oh man..
I wished this to be cool. I wished this to work. But nay. It didn't work for me and that makes me sad.
This mission kinda proves my point (until someone proves otherwise with TDM) that daylight missions simply do not work. There were only a few guard patrolling outside but I had to constantly do frustrating save-loading because I got busted within seconds. You can't even peek around a corner without getting the AI freaking out instantly. In the bright locales, there was no-where to run and hide-> reload.
The interiors were sane and fun. But the difficulty was so insane that this mission cannot be passed without constant save-loading, something I hate.
I did like the sound work you did in the tunnels. Very nice. Got me interested in the mission again as I was just about to give up.
The outside environment looked washed out. Most of the geometry was in 90 degree angles. I think many of the appearance-problems would have been okay if the mission happened in the darkness of the night. There were some cool and neat details though, like the windmill and the horse carriage. Interiors were fine, but mostly very simple and could have used some little extra spice.
Did you betatest? I found plenty of bugs ranging from get-stuck ladders (tunnels) to disappearing black walls (barn second floor). There was even an inventory crippling bug if the player tries to read the book he gets from one of the corpses in the winter-place. Some of the readables had page-breaks so that the end of the sentence is never seen in the next page. The guy sleeping in the guard house got up, searched for me and then went to sleep floating in the air. The large amount of bugs I encountered gave a very sloppy impression.
And then the readables. I know I started the poll and in that I declared I love reading those, but in this mission... Well... I just screamed 'NOOooo!' at the monitor when I encountered yet another book with trivial things or the same story repeated again and again. You could have accomplished a neat information flow with much lower amount of readables.
I really wished I had liked this. There were many good ideas, like the tension meter and daylight gameplay with prohibited areas.. But the good ideas fell short and the end product, unfortunately, was not enjoyable for me at all.
Season was clear.
Gameplay two stars. (Bugs, insane difficulty, save-loading..)
Aesthetics exterior one star, interior three stars, so the end verdict is something like two stars.
While I cannot speak for the majority of the level, I would like to hear more on your criticism on the readibles. However, as I do not wish to derail Fieldmedic's thread, could we please do it via PMs?
I get the tension meter - its pretty self explanetory but still don't know where to go as everything I've done except stay in the main courtyard sets it high and someone attacks me. A hint or more would be helpful at this point. I would really like to give this a go as it looks intriguing. Thanks. I haven't tried jumping a wall yet at the front maybe will try that.
The main thing to remember is that as a detective, your job is to investigate. Just because the tension meter goes yellow doesn't mean that you shouldn't go snooping around

Ah that's more than likely. In my defence, objectives change quite often in this mission and TDM doesn't make them easy to scroll through, so it's easy to miss a few. I really liked the way Thief made the font much smaller if there were too many objectives.
Thank you Ziggun, I'll try that tonight
Aye, one of the few things that I find bad about the map is the sheer amount of objectives. But hey, nothing's flawless except for pie. Anyhow, glad I could be of assistance!

Thanks for the warm welcome, Fidcal! Fieldmedic just keeps tearing me apart >_>
I've been snooping around the TDM Universe for some time, soaking up information. I especially like what you guys did with the pagans. So much more to work with now!
As for your suggestions, aye, I've been considering latching onto a map-in-progress to aid with readibles and briefings. But I also have a map on my own that I am slowly gathering compatriots for. Let's just say that it'll be a soaring success if all goes well

Holy cow! I was doubtful at first but this is amazing! However I'm a bit stuck:
After clearing the labyrinth, killing the brother in the snow and taking the father's ring. My tension status was set at medium when teleporting back to the labyrinth and now everytime someone sees me they go full alert. I managed to sneak past them to the entrance of the maze, but the guard in the ticket booth always sees me whenever I try to get past the gate...
Think I know what ya missed, Briareos:
Did you do the "hide the bodies" objective? The tension should drop when you complete it.
Hope that helps. I am not gonna vote on this though, it'd just be unfair

Greetings and salutations, everyone! I am an amateur writer from the bikini beaches of Sweden. A fan of Thief lore and setting(and thus, by extension, TDM), I now offer up my services as a writer-for-hire, provided sufficient food can be found. No mushrooms accepted. No, not even the funky kind. At any rate, I am somewhat busy with writing projects these days, so I will be very cautious in accepting work. However, rest assured that if I'm onboard, then I'm bloody well there until you pry my cold, dead fingers off the keyboard.
As for past work. Not much in the terms of modding, but I did assist Fieldmedic in his latest level and, gods be good, will do so in any future projects of his. So if you want a sample, scuttle off to check his work out.

To address your points, one by one...
Agreed, bloody physics, mucking about!
Immersion!
My idea, Fieldmedic's brilliant work.
A WEPON FOR GORDON FREEMON! Seriously, it's a ghost, what would you whack it with? It can pass through walls, so I don't see why it would be bothered with swords...
There is one. It won't help against the ghosts, though.
Don't know about them note boxes...
That's why I wrote those readibles..... They're there to be read... because they're readibles..
It's a hard level and no, the loot requirements are just fine.
Score is subjective and all....
