  1. Spot on! Yahtzee mentions the driving factor for my unending praise of LGS-based Thiefs - the heightened excitement from hiding and moving very slowly, something thats antithetical to the industry these days.
  2. Lol I'm just a hydrogeologist and even I know some rudimentary workarounds. I can't imagine what some of you guys can hack.
  3. If you become a big success and launch your own studio, please buy the rights to Master of Orion and give it proper justice.

Seconded! I'm only ever interested in what this mod amounts to anyways.
  5. How does the agreement work? Do you get a partial cut of every $10 sale?
  6. Some of the nastier variants of the Vundo trojan can't be found by MalwareBytes. Yet it is still the best free spyware prog, along with Kaspersky. If you can shell out a few bucks, Spyware Doctor is the most thorough out of 20 or so virus/malware apps I've tested.
  7. I love how many people mention they will purchase Doom3 just for the mod. You guys should get commission from iD for this awesome mod.
  8. How can you see her pupils in a third person game? (me ignorant, I know, but I seriously want to know)
  9. Merry Xmas, Happy New Year!
  10. Looky what old Warren is up to: http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=21537
  11. You disagree with reality Unstoppable? Sounds about par on the course for you….. Identifying the errors and trying to fix them is a meaningless aim, because the crux of it lies with how they fix them, and from what has been seen so far, they are simply realigning the same mistakes elsewhere in the game design, mostly to appeal to a mainstream, dumbed-down audience. Now, you can continue sounding like a shill, repeat ridiculous contradictory statements, such as “it’s a different tale, just the name and some story are the same”, and “mainstreaming does not mean they will alienate the hardcore fans”, but most members here have an IQ above the bell curve, so when 1 + 1 = 3 we can spot the idiocy at work. Thanks for bringing another knock to light – prequels are another creative copout.
  12. You see those same lofty goals and mission statements everywhere. All that shows is that the marketing department knows how to copy & paste, and you show there are still people gullible enough to eat it up. From the few concrete implementation promises & paltry media Eidos Montreal has given so far, DX3 delivering greatness should be taken with a kilogram of salt. There is already a knock against them: instead of taking a chance on something new, like a different cyberpunk RPG tale, they've chosen to play it safe and capitalize on an existing fanbase. That inevitably leads down the slippery slope of playing it safe/mainstreaming the development process.
  13. I dunno.......they have gotten President's voted into office.
  14. In your mind I'm sure that every game you've ever played is 'kickass', and that everyone with an IQ below triple digits has swallowed.

I noticed some of the spam threads are just gibberish text
  16. Having all those "features" are not impressive in themselves, it's how they are executed. So as far as shaping up, the only shape I can see is that Deus Ex 3 is a videogame with typical features and graphics associated with most current blockbusters.
  17. I found the only problem in the LGS Thief's with distinguishing loot, is that when you picked up what you thought was loot, and it turned out to be worthless, you had to drop it from arm height, possibly making sound loud enough to alert any nearby guards. Dark Mod has the best of both worlds IMO, with loot that looks distinguishable enough (grats to the object graphic designer!), and object manipulation to allow a gentle drop of non-loot items, likely the best possible option to place junk back given the Doom3 engine. Unless it is possible to code the mod to remember the location a junk item was at before it was picked up, and bind a key for returning it to it's origin It would immediately disappear from the center of screen, which would visually be unrealistic, yet kinda gets around unrealistic limitations from keyb/mouse interface placed on a player character that is suppose to have full faculties inside his game world.
  18. eVGA GeForce 8800 GTS, using driver version#178.24
  19. Like everyone else I cannot do anything but heap praise upon the mod and the people behind its creative forces. It truly is starting to look the part of what it has been advertised to be, and St. Lucia is like a drip of hydro to a dehydrated Thief fan. Looking at what’s been said, I would be merely repeating a lot of criticism that has already been spoken. Yet here are things I had the most trouble with, or recommend for improvements if not already considered: - The inventory needs a fade timer for certain inventory items that do not need to stay on screen on the bottom-right corner, such as the loot totals after frobbing some loot, readables, or collected quest items that have no practical use after stealing them - I would like a permanently visible option for the health bar, or a mappable button to press to see the bar for a couple seconds - A fair bit of audio cues were missing, such as one for losing health when falling (like an ‘Oomph!’), or a slightly heavier footfall when jumping on point. - I do like the inventory item indicator for carrying a body, and it is adequate to settle with. But is it possible to see the hand holding the body on the right hand side of the screen like in TDP? Bugs: - The menu interface disappears after awhile when pressing Esc. - Gamma always resets back to 1.6 - Objectives text is sometimes left justified on the objectives screen, causing the text to veer off the background papyrus image.
  20. Simply imagine a solution in context with the steampunk world and the objects at hand, and you can reason the characters ability to read in the dark. Perhaps he can squeeze a little button on his lightgem to make it glow radiantly enough to provide reading light
  21. I get a kick out of some of the steampunk articles I spy on the net. Particularily these two recently...... http://www.smugmug.com/gallery/6278166_YCdn5/1 http://www.bruteforceleather.com/scripts/p...p?idproduct=216 Sometimes I wish these things were for sale. I would love to have these steampunk items even if they end up being just paperweights.
  22. More congrats. Hope to hear you're picked up for national radio.
