  2. Here's the first character for our Mansion Pack. I'm modelling the clothing after late 15th C. fashion.
  3. Hi Alan. I'm the Lead Artist for the project. Your portfolio looks very good, and although we need to wait for Fingernail to get you set up, I think it's safe to say we could use you. The more modellers at the moment, the better, and I could use someone else to help me out with character art.
  4. So the plan right now is to focus on one environment so that we can get a complete map together. Our Mansion Pack is going to need some specific models.   5. Well, now that we're going to be focussing on the mansion pack, I'm going to encourage our Modellers to work on the models specific to that environment. House guards, servants, etc. The priest may be put on the shelf for a bit unless oDDity is feeling ambitious.
  6. First, I don't think he's quite finished it. Secondly, it DOES need to be skinned, and that's a big job. And third, you can't just slap it on top of a DOOM model...it has to be animated, doesn't it? You guys can test all your AI with the Doom models for right now, right?
  7. Yeah, the "I dunno" one I imagined being mostly for the stupid guard voice.
  8. I was having a talk with New Horizon last night about creating random conversations. We came up with a possible way to keep the conversations sounding fairly fresh. We take 3 columns of random phrases, then have each guard pick radomnly from a column when talking. Two AI pass each other in a hallway. Guard #1 says a random line from List A, Guard #2 responds with a line from List B and Guard #1 finishes up with a response from List C. Even with only a few phrases in each list, there are lots of potential combinations. They are fairly generic exchanges, but that would be believable, I think. An example of guard lists: List A - greetings "Evenin'." "Good to see you." "Hello, you taffer." "Nice Night." "How're things?" List B - questions (these may not be the best, but you get the idea) "You workin' hard?" "Have you had any dinner yet?" "You seen anything interesting tonight?" "Nice boots. They new?" "Your feet hurt as much as mine?" "Look like rain to you?" "You keepin' your eyes open?" List C - responses "Naw." "Bugger off." "Yep." "I dunno." "Same as always." By picking randomly, you could get some interesting exchanges, without having anything that sounds ridiculous: "Hello you Taffer." "You workin' hard?" "Bugger off." "Nice Night." "Look like rain to you?" "Naw." "Good to see you." "Your feet hurt as much as mine?" "Same as always."
  9. Yep. Never, ever, ever outline the top lip with a darker colour than the center line. The center of the mouth should always be the darkest part, and the lengthiest part...it should always be longer than the top and bottom lip, especially on a male. Also, I notice that while the rest of his face seems slightly tilted to the left, his nose is staring straight at us. My best advice is to always work from a reference, until this stuff comes naturally. Still, there is definitely character and mood there...that can count for a lot.
  10. I'm quite impressed, oofnish. This looks great. One suggestion for the finished version is to make the points a little less bright, perhaps leaving only the north point that bright. The others could be a darker metal so they don't draw as much attention. Also, the details people are talking about...wouldn't that be done by skinning?
  11. I think adding those kind of details might not be that useful...when it is shrunk they will hardly be seen anyway. I think colouring the north spike would be sufficient. If we could see it actual size that would help. I quite like it.
  12. Seeing as there was a lot of support for a stained-glass style menu, I've been working on some ideas for one. This is a work in progress, obviously. I'm not terribly happy with the city scape...I'm thinking of trying more of a medium shot closer to the buildings. But I just wanted to show you how it is progressing.

  14. Ohhhh, I think I get what you're talking about. The word 'logo' was tripping me up. Ok, yes, the thief silhouette might work well for that, I'll try it when I get home.

  18. Looks good, Gold. If I can't use it for the center of the glass it's certainly better than what I'm using at the edge of the screen. I'll post a work in progress tonight just so you can see where I'm at.
  19. I'm on it Sparhawk. I noticed the same thing. The concept I'm working on right now fixes that problem, and also gives us a great loading indicator. Gold, I specifically am trying to stay away from the hammer symbol for the overall game. It focuses on the thief, not the builders. Can you think of an appropriate Thief symbol? So far I've been playing with a keyhole or a hooded face, but I haven't found anything I really like yet.
  20. Agreed. That's part of the reason I'm doing these rollcalls. Maybe you should do the same thing in your department and see if there is anyone who is just being quiet?
  21. I've got some great ideas for this...I've been looking for some ways to add some clockwork machinery into the stained glass concept, and it would be perfect for something like this. Give me some more time to get the mock-ups finished...I've been having trouble geting PS7 to work properly.
  22. In the November issue of PC Gamer, there is half-page article about Blackcat and Nightblade, and there's a large full colour picture of oDDity's female thief model! Woot! Hats off to oDDity! I hope you'll still talk to the rest of us when you hit true celebrity status.
