Yeah tdm.subtitles.gui says: But maybe this is not good? Or maybe subtitles should be disabled during (some) gui overlays?

Fan Mission: One Step Too Far, by Dragofer (2014/08/04)
datiswous replied to Dragofer's topic in Fan Missions
Are you really sure? I deleted the fm folder and redownloaded it and upon starting, I got stuck again at the start. This is with 2.12 beta 5. Could anyone else test this? -
Yes it does. Thanks a lot!
-
This actually doesn't work if mappers don't place these entities close to the actual conversations.. Well, it was worth a try.
-
You made a lot of changes to Console Useful Controls but some need explaining I think. For example: listEntities GLOB lists all alive entities whose names match given glob/wildcard (e.g. use asterisks like *func_static* to search for substring). What are alive entities? teleportArea N teleports the player into the area with number N What are numbered area's? How can you view the numbers? g_timeModifier 2 Same as timescale 2 but somewhat different How is it different?

I added the console commands teleport, getwiewpos and setviewpos to the Console Useful Controls page on the wiki.

It's a bit off topic, but I post this here for now, maybe useful. To find all the places where conversations take place, to review subtitles, you can use the following procedure: Use console command listEntities Then search for atdm:conversation_info entities, check their names (actually, it's easier to just open the map file in a text editor and search for atdm_conversation_info and copy all the names of those entities) Then use command teleport [name of atdm:conversation_info entity] You might have to search the trigger that activates the conversation.

Here are subtitles. That I did not test for the whole mission, but the first sequence (drunk guy), at start mission, shows fine. subtitles_ostf.pk4 -

For some reason when I load the mission in 2.12, I get stuck right at the start. So immediately I have to use noclip. After that it plays fine. This does not happen in 2.11 . I wonder what the cause is. -
Lxqt is more comparable to xfce since they're both de's. I find only openbox (wm) a little too limited. I once combined xfce with openbox as wm. But nowadays it doesn't give you enough extra speed I think.

Help needed with mapping and models in Tears of St. Lucia
datiswous replied to Fiver's topic in TDM Tech Support
The license.text (you can find it in the root of tdm install) says this: Anyway, I don't really understand what you want. I think enough has been said no? You posted about the stuff that you think needs fixing. Maybe someone picks it up and it gets fixed. -

Ah I didn't read this part (in bold): I think I'm going to change the text there. It's not very clear. Edit: I changed it so it's more clear: https://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=Console_Useful_Controls#Spawning_entities

Btw. the wiki says: Should this be: ?

Well I tried it on another computer and there it doesn't work either. beta212-04 So when you do that command, you get an extra gasarrow in your inventory? Never mind
-
So you are saying that if you use for example the xfce edition, you can't install kde-specific software that is in the package manager of Solus? Snap and Flatpack don't count. For my next install I'll might try a kde edition, because I use a lot of kde software. I don't like some of the default behavior of kde, so I would have to tweak it more. XFCE is almost perfect from the start in my experience.

I think that's just a matter of selecting the right Kernel. You can install different kernels and then select the one that works for you. The other issue is don't install AUR packages and you can revert your system back with Timeshift (or just a backup). You can boot up a Manjaro live usb stick and restore the local snapshot. Well anyway, I was always able to resolve issues up to now. But I'll try Solus sometime. I see Solus is rolling, that's great. What do you think of Budgy WM?

Thanks for the info, although I didn't read anything exciting over using Manjaro xfce. But nice to hear about another distro that is good. I moved to Manjaro when Windows 7 got out of support. I find Windows 11 not that different from Windows 10 and worse in some (minor) places.

Well if we add a category hearing impaired then a different set with these additions could be loaded. I thought the ai-barks are mostly made for understanding the speach for non native English players.
-
I was testing some missions with all the ai barks on and the issue I see is that for a lot of the subs I see on screen I can't hear the sound. Maybe I should only hear the sounds in a specific radius? Also, I think ai barks shouldn't show when story subs are on screen? Some subs have sugestive text, like what the tone of the voice is. Is that something that could be added as an option?

I tested. This is a shadow leak: (it's faily minor and hard to notice though)

Could someone try to do the entity spawning via console? I can't get it working anymore. If I do the command, I get no error, but I don't get the item. For example: spawn atdm:ammo_gasarrow Does nothing Tested in 2 missions
-
Interesting. I didn't know about Doom 3 co-op (I don't know why). Instead of all being in the same place inside the mission, missions could be designed around locations (in the same map). So you play each your own part, but objectives are shared. So you play different mission objectives around the same global objective. It means also that a player could find a clue when reading a book but another player has to do that objective. So for example: Shared mission objectives: Find the ring of Thruth (Church section) - Player A Find information about hidden loot (Thief hideout) - Player B Search for a clue about the hidden passage in the Church (library section) - Player C So when Player C finds the info in the library section, Player A can find that hidden passage in the church section.

Well there is for example: https://www.appimagehub.com/ I actually like programs to be self contained, so I can move them around at will and easilly modify the files (this is more important with tdm) as well, so probably it wouldn't be for me anyway. Apart from that, many (Linux) gamers use an Arch -type distro (I use Manjaro), so for that the Debian repo is not useful. I'm in favor of a universal Linux version approach and your idea kind of goes against that.
