Is there something wrong with the forums lately, or is it my browser? I've been having trouble formatting posts, and just now I couldn't format anything at all.
I'm using Vivaldi.
Usually I have to: select text, click bold, nothing happens, select again, click bold, then it works.
Same for other stuff, like creating spoilers, bullet points, links. Nothing works the first time.
-
I have no problem. I use Firefox. @Zerg Rush also uses Vivaldi. Have you tried without extensions, or in another browser?
(btw. bold, italic and underline have shortcut keys: Ctrl B, Ctrl I and Ctrl U, you could try that)

Even though I've been absent a long while, I still find myself dreamily wishing for the free time to do TDM mission development. When working on new research projects I'll find myself involuntarily thinking, "hee hee this could be a fun texture or readable or bit of map architecture." Or I find myself absentmindedly responding out loud to odd noises with a drunkguard-like "must've been rats!"
-
If you had the time, what would you like to work on?
-
An amazing little mission, we can all hope
-
"Little mission" is exactly the right advice. I have the same issue in writing: I need to learn how to condense, condense, condense.
Another example: Whenever I research ecclesiastical history, I've got a nagging voice in the back of my head, asking, "Could there possibly be a parallel event in the Builder's Church?"

Sometimes when I try to post comment in bugtracker page that I opened days ago, bugtracker says my session is expired and my comment is lost.
I have discovered plausible workaround. When I see expiration message, I open browser's dev tools, go to network tab and refresh page. Then I select POST request and copy my text from its content. -
Just found out by accident how to change the tittle of a topic you made. You long-click (2 seconds) on a topic tittle, then you get an edit dialog to change the topic title.
The other way I know of is to edit the first post.

Deathloop – what a mess of a game. I'd love to see a post-mortem on it some day. I hope Arkane is doing okay though.

Thanks to this thread I am currently playing Deathloop. Have to say I am enjoying it very much, but I can see where it turns people off. The bad first: Yes it's repetitive and enemies respawn, annoying to have to encounter/kill the same baddies over and over. It is a time loop game, so that part is to be expected. Perhaps the back and forth between times of day and revisiting areas once you find info or codes in other areas can be too much backtracking for some. The good: It feels just like Dishonored with a No One Lives Forever candy and bubble gum pop vibe. That's a definite plus. Mooncrash will be next to play for a real comparison.

Unfortunately I can only hide or delete this status update. Would be cool if new threads with new posts could be created.

You know how there are these long videos which turn your TV into a fireplace on christmas?
Well, can we make a video with just videos of happy, friendly farm animals? ...for dogs? I notice that they get really happy when there are animals on TV, and how bored they are just lying around the house most of the day. When we leave them alone, we could just turn on the TV and have them be happy all day instead. It'll be like ASMR, but for pets.

Yeah, but they get really excited when they see other animals, like horses, and really happy.
-
It exists. RedLetterMedia covered "Dog Sitter" in one of their vids (worth watching the whole thing though):
-
I guess there's a right and a wrong way to simply film friendly farm animals. Rewinding them back and forth, having lots of jump cuts, having dogs talks like humans, and having animals wear outfits, would just confuse the dog. It's not hard to do animal ASMR: You just film peaceful animals for extended periods of time. Beyond that, the video is just four guys talking about their own human opinions. They're not the intended audience.

Since Aluminum directed me here ( https://forums.thedarkmod.com/index.php?/topic/9082-newbie-darkradiant-questions/page/437/#comment-475263 ) can we have unlimited renderer effects? Well, maybe not unlimited, by maybe 3-5? Thanks.

Since I wasn't the one mainly asking, I'll just cite you in the original thread instead.
-
There already is a kind of sorting, sort nearest, sort decal, sort <n>. For things like windows and such, sort nearest should probably have the desirable affect, though looking through multiple translucent shaders might kill performance.
-
Is having multiple render effects really killing performance that badly? I don't understand. You're saying that if I have two transparent objects side-by-side, then they'll just count as two render effects, but when combined, they somehow become something much more difficult to render?
Never-the-less, unless we're talking some kind of infinite portal problem, why not let the mapper choose how much he wants to kill performance? Just warn him against putting too many effects close together.

Woo!! 2.10 Beta "Release Candidate" ( 210-07 ) is out:
https://forums.thedarkmod.com/index.php?/topic/21198-beta-testing-210/
It wont be long now ...

I don't think there's a link to thedarkmod.com on forums.thedarkmod.com ...
-
Yeah and the wiki and moddb. It should have those links in the footer I think. Probably easy to add by an admin.
Edit: And a link to the bugtracker. I'm always searching for a post in the forum that links to that because I can't remember the url.

I drew attention to this several times in the last few years. No one payed it any attention, so I just gave up.

Reluctance to improve the forums is matched by reluctance to allow more people to work on it. Talk about trust and power.

New laptop. So long, Intel. No more head bumping.

I can see a lot of powerpoint slides but nothing convincing
IMHO Intel is moving in the wrong direction. They have Iris 655 but you can only find it in Macbooks. They should have pushed it to major laptop producers so that there was a $600 laptop with it. Then, I want to be able to switch between TDP levels, at least when plugged in. And of course 128MB edram is NOT enough.
AMD is even worse with their IGPs ATM.
-
Speaking of which, I ran Darkmod on my new laptop with a GTX 1060, and it got 16 fps. Then I realized it was running Intel graphics by default and I had to go into the settings to have the GTX run it. Then the fps instantly shot up to 150. So watch out for that.

So, New Zealand banned semi-autos. Not a long way from banning semi-auto handguns...

In short, we believe it will take time to have common sense gun rights like Switzerland and the Czech Republic as normal rights recognized in most free liberal democracies without too much zeal like in the US. But that will happen by the time spirits calm down in the US. Rome wasn't built in a day.
-
As i mentioned, my definition of common sense is not to distribute tools to kill living beings to the civilian population. I can't see any common sense justifying the need to carry a gun. It's not the wild west here. And i'm also not living in a corrupt third world country.
-
It is sad that the rationale of limiting guns to civilians also extends to pepper sprays and other non-lethal tools of self-defense. And by the time that happens like for example in the UK, nobody will be able to stop it. Moreover to stop the Westerminster attack.

I just noticed Bikerdude was banned? When? What happened? He was one of the long standing members and content creator
