  1. "Quicksave" was prolly translated because the player can see the word on the save/load screen. There are different ways of handling that, though.
  2. my 540m is working man , but you know its bridged to intel hd3000 for everything, because standart structure of this type of laptops are like thsi you know. it doesnt matter you are using 540m or intel, the hdmi is on intel hd3000 and internal laptop screen LVDS connection is on hd3000 too. So if hd3000 has a problem it means 540m has a problem here is the file : darkmod.zip.txt
  3. I was using Windows 7 64bit, GTX 780ti, latest drivers at the time. Ever since that glitch, I now drop the compass at the equipment buying screen if I can. Might have been a driver issue, but I haven't tested it since.
  4. There's also a problem with OBS that whenever the compass is on the screen, OBS record just that and nothing else. Ruined several recording attempts of a few maps. Fraps works just fine if you have a beefy system and fast HDD to record to, otherwise it will murder your FPS.
  5. +1 I have an Audigy card as well that makes really odd sounds with EAX enabled. It basically sounds like a jittery hang at the beginning of certain sounds. Also stereo sound doesn't seem to work as expected with EAX on. A character will be talking on screen in front of me, but will sound far left/right. I'm not sureabout diagnostics, I haven't run across too much on dooms sound engine and EAX in general. Is there any in-depth documentation on this?
  6. There is crackling from the front left speaker which isn't there when EAX is disabled Why this should happen I have no idea First noticed with Down by the Riverside but now there with no FM active - just the opening screen Also checked with Coercion and is also there but is masked by the ambient noise Are there any diagnostics I can try Edit - checked again in Down by the Riverside and it is there in the boat at the start but isn't there in the next section after drinking the potion but as soon as you enter the house (where the lady is sitting) it returns
  7. Try: (right click on desktop) screen resolution > make text and other items larger or smaller > Set to Medium also Fov Ratio is a decimal percentage. 16:9 is 1.7777777777 so seta fovRatio "1.778"
  8. I recently purchased a used gaming laptop, model Terra 1590, reportedly something of a MSI Ghost derivative. Has a dedicated GTX970M video card, the monitor has full HD resolution. OS is Win10 Pro anniversary edition with the latest Nvidia drivers. Trouble is, I can't get it to use the native resolution. I can run it at 640x480, everything beyond that results in a distorted display, where I can only see the top left part of the "screen". Several searches came up blank, any suggestions?
  9. Hi Freyk, Nothing was in the Darkmod.log, so I set the darkmod.ini to output all errors, warnings, debugs, info and changed the 0 to 1 on most LogClasses. The problem is that it appears that the game does not have a chance to actually log anything when this particular crash occurs. I opened the map in DarkRadiant and found that there are various VisPortals used around the map, this particular VisPortal has a flag called "shop_skip", which I assume is used as a function when first loading the map to skip the shop screen? From what I can see, every single VisPortal used in this map has this flag, so I doubt this would crash the game. I have tried all kinds of things, such as the "(Nvidia) Disable Threaded Optimizations" fix, "(Nvidia) Disable the Streamer Service", (Nvidia) Disable Index Buffers, playing with the Graphics Settings, changing all sorts of stuff and nothing seems to fix the crash at these particular 2 points of crashing in this map, so my guess is that it is some kind of problem with running this map under Dark Mod 2.04. I will try to reinstall Dark Mod 2.03 and play the map to see if it crashes again..
  10. For the purpose of not writing in another thread I'll do it here. Is there any way to enable the monitor refresh rate to 72 Hz in-game? There is a conveniantly placed widescreen togglable settings for 16:9 and vice versa to 4:3 but... not this crucial graphics option. The game runs by default at 60 Hz. Whenever it's running at 60 - screen tearing may occur due to circumstances that may be, this in turn hits performance because by running the game at 30 FPS by default, any framerate hit will be more noticeable, whereas with 60 FPS as the max. the human eye can't notice it. My current LG Flatron screen supports 72. Please tell me if there's a console command for that to use and thanks in advance.
  11. urgue - what GPU you use? Bohemia deal with black / translucent specular issue atm with certain manufacturer's drivers. //Switch from 32 to 64bit... still issue. DW - just realised this is not same issue. Count post rem.
  12. @nbohr1more: Thanks hugely. TDM 2.04 installed using your method. The install folder (F:\darkmod here) should pre-exist or the installer will baulk, in case anyone else tries it. Best to run it from there. "The Outpost" ran fine, except for a single audio-jarring crash once, near the start. Reloaded and finished. As you might expect with lower settings, torches could occasionally be seen through doors and doorframes, and a plume of black smoke crowned each one. Water surface was black, and sky was oddly mobile. Underwater was crazily magnified-ish. "A House Of Locked Secrets" gave up with same error at exactly the same point as before.

  14. Thanks, I processed your test results and comments in a new version of the installer. Please download the new version (v20160717) from my google drive and run the tests again, mentioned in the first post. For now I only need the testresults for the installer and uninstaller and you can skip test 6 and 7. I cannot hide the unknown publisher warning, because i have to buy windowapp-certification files for it. i can disable this message by removing the elevated permission, but then people cant install TDM in their program-files-folder, if they want to.I tried to remove the checkbox that confirms to run the updater automatically after the installation, but that didn't work at the moment.I changed / corrected several text labels.I added custom text labels to the installer and uninstaller. (so It doesn't look like the tdm-installer un/installs "itself" anymore)I need to know an application-argument to run the updater unattended. Got several application arguments to start the updater with specified settings (like the noselfupdate), but not one to run the update process automatically, like tdm-updater for linux In theory its possible to change the default screen resolution and brightness, during the installation. But to prevent new user-problems, I dont want to program the installer to do that.
  15. Test 1: Yes, received welcome screen. Test 2: Yes, files installed successfully. Test 3: Yes, updater started. Test 4: Didn't get an error, clicked cancel. Test 5: Ran updater and files downloaded. Test 6: No problems Test 7: No problems Test 8: Successfully uninstalled.
  16. If you have read the tdm 2.04 publication on our forum, you know that I am working on several installation-applications to install the TDM-gamefolder and -updater. Now I am near at the last step to publish the first stable version of the installer for Windows, But I looking for people to do the last tests. You can help me do the following steps and post the results in this topic. Download the TDM-installer zip file from my google driveunpack the zip file.run the installer. (test 1: Check if you see to the welcome screen, after you accepted the unknown publisher-warning)at the screen where you specify the location for tdm, select the program files-folder (or something else) and click on the install button. (dont select your own excisting tdm-folder) At the following window the tdm-gamefolder will be installed. (test 2: check if it installs the files.)At the final step of the installer, you be asked if you want that the installer start the updater. Keep the checkbox checked, click on the finish-button and .(test 3: check if the updater starts)At the updater, click on continue (test 4: check if you dont get an error) and after the updater-check, click the cancel-button.Start the updater using the shortcut (test 5) and install tdm using the updater.Run tdm (test 6), download & install a mission (test 7)Remove TDM using the uninstaller from the TDM-gamefolder (test 8)Post your results in this topic. If you have other comments please, post them also on this topic.
  17. I have the same problem. I'm using Windows 10 (64bit). I have used the updater and everything is up to date. I can load a new mission from the start (only tried training and Tears of St Lucia so far) and save it without any apparent problem. When I try to load a saved game it I get the splash screen but after 2-3 seconds "Game Error. Couldn't load Thief DarkMod 2\Maps\SaintLucia.script" I have checked file permissions and given full access. I have removed 'read only' attributes from all files. The saved games directory is there with 3 files for each save (name.save; name.tga; name.txt) Directory tree is: Games\Thief\Thief DarkMod 2\Thief DarkMod 2\fms\saintlucia\savegames There is no directory called 'maps' anywhere and I can't find any files ending .script
  18. In any event, the in-game screenshot doesn't perform its job properly unless it's capturing the same image the player sees on screen, so it should be fixed to do that. It's not the most critical bug, but still something worth putting in the tracker to get to.
  19. Because screenshots don't include the in game gamma value. Everything is taken at 1. If you need to have that included, use FRAPS and have FRAPS take the screenshot, that should be the same as what's on your screen.
  20. This may have been asked before but I didn't find it Whenever I take a screen shot I always have to lighten in to make the detail visible and looking at other posts it seems I am not alone in seeing this effect I suppose the next question is - can this be fixed
  21. OK. I tried all of those. Unfortunately, the problem remains. That's a good question. It goes straight from the game loading screen to the BSOD. It did crash to desktop once and gave me an open GL error message. I think it's same problem, but I cannot claim any great expertise on these matters.
  22. My folder was set to read only. I changed that and I got a different error. An Open GL error. I tried a different mission and it went back to the blue screen. I have tried a couple more times and it's just blue screen again. Something odd happens: I uncheck the read only part, but when I click again, it's back on read only. I changed the permissions on the folder to give myself full control, but the problem persists. I tried the solution on the Microsoft website to remove read only and make it a system folder, but that didn't make any difference. I am the owner of the file. I guess it's a graphics card issue, which is odd because my old GPU was inferior to this one. I am running TDM 2.03. I have the latest motherboard drivers. However, I am using version 340.52 drivers that came with my GPU because the latest drivers (and other more recent ones) caused serious issues with my PC. I ran TDM update. It just downloaded the mirror files. I cannot post the CFG file.
  23. Hi everyone, my first post here. I've been playing this game for a long time, and I'd like to start by thanking you all for your amazing work. After years of problem free TDM gaming, I recently upgraded to a new PC. I was really looking forward to playing some of my favourite missions on a better rig. Unfortunately, I encountered a problem. I start the game, select a mission and press start. When the loading bar finishes, and it says 'mission loaded, please wait', I get a blue screen of death and the PC resets. My PC works normally otherwise, and other games run fine. I tried out a few different missions, and I also tried some different graphics settings, but the problem is the same. I looked in the FAQ but couldn't find anything relevant to my issue; I tried a search too with the same results. Any help would be greatly appreciated. My PC's specs are: Windows 7 N 64-bit SP1 Intel Core i3 4370 @ 3.80GHz 8.00GB RAM MSI H81M-E33 motherboard 2GB NVIDA GeForce 610 The error message from event viewer was: The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x00000116 (0xfffffa8008d08010, 0xfffff8800f3b793c, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000002). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: . Unfortunately, I cannot find the .dmp file.
  24. If i would like to tdm-graphics more realistic (imho), i would change the following video settings in tdm. (after i created a backup of darkmod.cfg) Video > general: Texture anisotropy = 16 Video > advanced: ambient rendering = enhanced Interaction shader = enhanced Post processing = enabled bloom intensity = highest Object details (lod) = very high Or In darkmod.cfg seta r_postprocess "1" seta r_postprocess_bloomIntensity "2" seta image_anisotropy "16" Tip: I created my settings by switching back/forth from settings to playerview, using a windowed screen and alt-tabbing, After this i enabled the shadow of the player: seta g_showPlayerShadow "1" You can ask the community to create a hq texturepack.
  25. My conclusion is as follows: There are some guides available for tweaking Doom3, and though some settings are the same as in TDM I have not found any huge improvements apart from the video ram switch/entry. The following are kindly copy/pasted from tweakguides - the link provided by "freyk": I have tested the switches "seta image_useNormalCompression" and "seta image_useCompression" by turning them off, but if I also turned off the switch "seta image_usePrecompressedTextures" - the screen would go black when TDM starts. So I left this at default "1" This first two may have made an improvement in performance, but not visually. I changed "com_machineSpec " to "3" = Ultra quality , and again I'm not totally sure if it has made any improvement, but it didn't hurt either. And off course "com_videoRam" which I set to "2048" , and this has definitely made a huge improvement - not visually but in performance. (Please learn from my mistake and leave "sys_videoRam" at it's default value "0" = autodetect) So the conclusion is that users are unlike to make any visually improvements through tweaking the darkmod.cfg but it is possible to alter some values in order to make a given system run better on either older or newer hardware. And why not?! Because the development team at Broken Glass Studios has made such a good job with the GUI graphic settings (not only the graphic settings that is...) I used the fan mission "Crucible of Omens:Behind closed doors" for most of the testing, because of the size of the map. I hope that this can maybe help other users who seek the information I did. Btw if anybody using either Linux Ubuntu 14.04 or Linux Mint 17.x are struggling with correct sound the following may be applied: seta s_alsa_pcm "default" may be changed to seta s_alsa_pcm "plughw:0" in order to get TDM to use "alsa" sound.
