  1. I've done this now: it says height 1080 width 1920 fullscreen 1 mode -1 aspectratio 1 EDIT: aspectratio in base-folder was still 0. This may change automaticly after game start to 1 because of the screen size settings.Though, I changed it manually now to 1.
  2. well, I have been running 10.9 on my Radeon HD5870 untill i sold it. I had tried 11.1a, 11.11 & 11.11a and they all had screen flicker issues and the upside down sky without disabling Ai issue. 11.12 the latest catalysts is the most stable of the 11 series driver, but has the new CCC interface. So my 2 cents always use a gfx drive that was optimized for your generation of gfx card, so in your case it would be the same as my 5870, so ccc 10.9.
  3. Can you clarify that you formatted some days ago and since then you've installed the latest drivers for your graphics card? You have updated Dark Mod by running tdm_updater. FMs install OK In your pm you said "because having launched the fm I have the message " doom 3 met a problem and has to close ". So... Dark Mod runs but the FMs crash - is that when you first try launch them or at the moment you expect them to start? eg, after the title screen shows? Have you tried a very small FM like Thief's Den or there is a blackjack tester that's probably even smaller.
  4. Hello there i seem to have a problem that didn't occure yet. I checked the faq and forum posts but couldn't find anything like my problem. So here is a description: Sometimes all the light vanishes and i don't mean the black texture bug. I can still see everything, but there is no light, i still see the the flames of, for example torches, but otherwise it is just like in a dark shadow. I also notices that the AIs just act like there was no light, they don't see me, even when i am standing right in front of them. Also the lightgem stays dark, no matter how close i am to a lightsource, only exception is when i use the lantern, then the lightgem brightens up, but still no visible light. This bug doesn't occure always, but seems to be linked to the opening of certain doors. Apart from that i had some crashes and freeze ups, but i have it is nothing serious. Doom 3 runs just fine on my system, but i only have an onboard graphic chip, so maybe thats the problem? After i have now described my problem i just have to praise the developers of this mod, it is great, real good gameplay. Despite my ignorance of modding i am aware how much effort was put into this project, so i want to say thanks for this entertaining mod. ps: if my english seems a bit weird, sorry, didn't get much oppertunity to practise it lately ^^
  5. Lowering screen resolution and AA settings has fixed this problem for a couple of other users. If that does not help, please post a conDump.
  6. Hello all, I just got Doom 3 installed and patched and I got The Dark Mod installed and for the most part it works. However, there's some graphical type errors I keep seeing as I wander through the training mission. At various spots throughout the mission(most of the time in the outside areas) the textures aren't displaying properly, they look black/white with some specs of color here and there... I've tried everything I can think of to fix the issues, I've looked through the FAQ, made sure to update both my graphic drivers and direct x, and I've even reinstalled TDM, but to no help... My System Specs: Nvidia GeForce 6600 GT AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ 2.6GHz Dual Core 2GB Ram
  7. I have trouble running a majority of the FMs. For example, the second mission of No Honour Among Thieves chrashes after the loading screen, while the first one runs without a problem. This is what I get in the error console I would attach the ConDump, but although it is stated otherwise in the console, the game does not create a textfile inth FM's folder. Other missions tht crash are e.g. Return to the City, The Rift, Somewhere Above the City, the Caduceus of St. Alban and St. Albans Cathedral. I never encountered any errors running the Thomas Porter series. Any ideas on what I can do to solve this problem?
  8. Greebo, it's definitely not working. I've tried what Niels suggested and installed the Cat App, to no avail. Then I used the command line (Eingabeaufforderung) and typed in "tdmlauncher.exe H:\Games\Doom3\darkathena.exe" (obviously I was in the right directory and had renamed "Doom 3" to "Doom3" before). Same thing, screen upside down. What am I doing wrong?
  9. Don't beat yourself up. I assumed that using the TDM Updater to download the mod would avoid the possibility of corrupted textures so I didn't even consider it. We all know who "Assumption" is the mother of right? I would just hope that this gets added to the Wiki as a possible cause of Black textures.
  10. Right. I already had changed the "o" screen, it seems to be better now: Although the arrows need to be shifted a bit left to be center of the "Objectives" text, where the red line is. Will do so now. Done. Also moved them a few pixels down, so that even with three lines there is hopefully no overlap.
  11. Not quite the same thing but I saw that if I clicked left mouse while a readable was on screen: My blackjack hand would stay raised until I clicked attack again. This was playing 'the Transaction', the first mission I've played with TDM 1.04. In previous versions I think I'd get a normal BJ swing if I clicked attack to make a readable go away? I experienced that (see attachment) when I triggered the cutscene with my blackjack out. The sword just appeared. (Is there more than one? What's that on the side of the BJ?). Afterwards I did a few experiments: If I trigger the cutscene with my blackjack out I get the blackjack-sword combo when the Lich Queen attacks. If afterwards I pick up Grenefeld's body, the blackjack part disappears but the sword is still visible. If I trigger the cutscene with my sword out I get the double-sword when the Lich Queen attacks. If afterwards I pick up Grenefeld's body, both swords are hidden. If I trigger the cutscene weaponless, I'm still weaponless when she attacks. I can take out my (normal) sword and take her down. I play on Linux, just in case it's relevant.
  12. While I can understand that you are a little frustrated with us, there's absolutely no reason to throw out personal insults like this. We get it already that you read the wiki and the forums, but believe me, if we knew the solution to your particular problem by heart, we'd tell you. It's obvious that there must be something wrong with your particular setup, as the common solution to the black textures problem doesn't draw in your case. I'd recommend double-checking your drivers and maybe try to test your installation on another computer, if you have the chance. Remember that we're not getting paid for this, so insulting TDM team members is not really getting you any further. The next time you are angry with some people across the internet, just leave your fingers off the keyboard, ok? If there's another wave of name-calling from your side, I'll be less polite.
  13. This only needs to be set to 1 if you are having low frame rates. This will compress all the textures again and decrease your visual quality. It has no effect on black textures. seta image_useallformats "1" should be the magic key here. Try setting it in both your base doom 3 folder and in the fan mission folder itself. You should definitely be able to see the textures.
  14. As I said above, the only setting required to fix the black textures is image_useallformats "1". We had played around with the others while trying to solve the problem back in the day, but later figured out you only needed to set that one setting. It won't hurt to have seta image_usePrecompressedTextures "1" set, although having seta image_useNormalCompression "2" and seta image_useCompression "1", is just going to recompress all the DDS files again at map load and increase your loading time.
  15. I had black texture bug a couple of times, but with an Nvidia card. I tried following directions on forum posts after searching as well with no luck either so based on my experience, i'd try to play with these three settings: seta image_usePrecompressedTextures "1" seta image_useNormalCompression "2" seta image_useCompression "1" Those are my current settings.

Thank you for your replies, @ Tels Yes the card is newish, I had disabled the Catalyst AI as was suggested in another topic, but I haven't yet tried disabling the entire Catalyst Control panel. @New Horizon As I stated in the topic, I have checked all the settings listed on the wiki as being related to the black textures. The setting you mention being one of them. @Ivan the B Thanks for your reply, this seems to support the idea that this is a driver fault. The machine was built at the end of October and all the drivers were up to date at that point, I will try a few different drivers both older and newer as well as disabling the catalyst control panel and edit\reply with results. (at work at the moment so will be a while)
  17. The only line in the doom config that really makes any difference with black textures is image_useallformats 1 If it's set to that, everything should show up fine....unless there is a driver problem with your card.
  18. Just to mention the original topic. The in-game objective screen has a bug which causes the back-button overlap unaesthetically with the objective text, if the text spans for two lines.
  19. *EPIPHANY* !!!Yes. Get rid of the parallax mod. !!! Back when I was trying to get parallax mapping to work in TDM, I got the black menu as well! As well as getting rid of the parallax mod, Open up the pk4 with TDM's gamex86.dll and extract it yourself to doom3/darkmod/gamex86.dll. Edit: (No, parallax mapping is not possible until D3 open-source. We need the functionality like PREY to use different interaction shaders for different textures)
  20. shure, 1 sec... i'll edit this post. edit2: i just looked at the FAQ-entry you posted before ... and looked at this "texture missing & blackscreen" bug cfg-entrys (even if i don't think that this is my problem at all) and changed it: after starting the game... still same problem. blackscreen with mousekey and sounds and errors in the console. after gettin back to desk, i looked at the cfg again... and the command "seta image_useprecompressedtextures "1"" jumped to "0" again.. than i tryed it again, but made the cfg file "READ ONLY"... still same problem: blackscreen, mousekey and sounds + errors in console (but now console also written: "couldn't write cfg" so, nope... FAQ entry about missing or black textures won't help.
  21. first of all: thanks for the answer edit: answers but in my eyes, it couldn't be that i've to reinstall everything, just because i choosed d instead of c without the folder "games" i've had the 2 "demo"-versions of the DM installed before and just erased the folders of them - i just got the "st. lucia" folder left and erased it before extracting the new one... could it be, that there are still files from the other 2 demos??? if there are some - how can i find them? i'll try the cfg thing you linked from the FAQ - but i dont see any ingame graphics at all... i couldn't even start a game - its the menu thats black... saw the screens?
  22. Can you copy more of your console error? Also, is the screen you are trying to play from designated as your Primary display? (I would try the 195 WHQL version tried in this thread if you haven't already.) Finally, this may sound strange but some Spyware has been know to hook into the Device Manager registry keys (the symptom is usually a blank white page when opening the Device Manager), you could try running Super Antispyware or some other anti malware then running the driver cleaner then reinstalling the drivers. If it were my system, I would also download the latest BIOS from ASUS in case the card isn't being properly detected but upgrading your BIOS is risky so I will let you make that call.
  23. be aware that this might drop performance a lot - if the particles are longer on screen, the engine has to draw more of them.
  24. Change the gravity to 0, speed to -500 and the z offset to 240. Now the patch is in the middle of the rain instead of the very top, this makes it harder for the patch to go off screen while looking at the raindrops. And since it is the speed of the particles making them fall and not gravity you can angle them for wind effects.
  25. Got another hanging save with the "alchemist". Seems like it should be normal gameplay, upper mansion, just had stolen the rod in the upper mansion where we are supposed to steal some gems. This hang doesn't start the game though. The loading screen just stays after the loading bar fills up and disappears. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=EDLP2NDR
