  1. First off I'd like to say that "Dark Mod" is great game and I've had no problems running it in Windows 8.1 64 bit except for one small graphics problem. "Dark Mod" Is Not Resolution Friendly! Case in point.. I'm still able to play games on my computer like "Rendezvous With Rama", "System Shock 2", "Fallout 3", all of the Thief games, and a heck of a lot of other games at a resolution of 4600 x 2600 on a 55" HDTV that is only capable of 1080p. I'm able to reach such a high resolution by downsampling and of course having a really good graphics card. The problem is this.. All of he games cater to or recognize that high a resolution except for "Dark Mod". In order to be able to play "Dark Mod" I have to re-adjust the screen resolution back down to at least 1080p and reset the text size to a much lower scale. or setting. If I don't reset everything what happens when I run the game is that only the 1/4 top left corner of the main menu and game is visible. With the exception of one or two of my really old games, all of my game can be set to a 16:9 aspect ratio @ 4600 x 2600p but not "Dark Mod" unless I first change my settings. So my question is this.. can an update patch be made for this problem or am I doing something wrong with setting up "Dark Mod"?
  2. For me it's almost not noticeable. (but then again, i have an old macbook pro mid 2009 and get used to run "new" games on low grapics and low fps,...) What is the best way to measure the fps in the darkmod? is there something like a "benchmark" mission? I dont remember if i changed the default game-settings. But with the settings i now use, I get the following measurements: (Darkmod 2.01 on playonmac 4.42, wine 1.7.17, full screen on a "little" 640x480 game-resolution, trainingsmission) location lowest fps-highest fps main-room: 40-60 archery 15-30 melee: 12 - 30
  3. Namely the water surface textures, the nice sunset sky, some doors and the silver/pewter beer stein, to name a few. It seems to be some of the textures which have translucency. Here is a screenshot of what I mean: I have a river in this shot, but it looks like a dry river bed since the water surface is not rendering. Also see how the sky is screwed up. That is the sky which normally renders deep blue with the orange and red sunset. I some maps, certain doors have a black or blue bar of color near the bottom along with the grey looking mesh, seen in the sky in the above screenshot. I know it is not the graphics driver fault because I was using the same driver a few months ago, before TDM 1.08, and all rendered perfectly. These rendering glitches started with TDM 1.08. Linux NVIDIA Driver Version: 295.71 Does anybody know what's wrong and how to fix it?
  4. Can you do a screen of task manager showing tasks by cpu useage when TDM is doing a go slow, i would like to see if there are any other apps running in the background.
  5. The link on that site points to TDM's downloadpage, Bikerdude. I upgraded my darkmod installation to 2.01 with the windows updater, because the mac updater didn't find any mirrors. After running the update, I was hoping to find an 2.01 mac binary inside the folder, but didn't. So i copied malex's 2.0 app to the 2.01 folder and run it. Malex app works with the updated files(!) and I played succesfully an old saint lucia's mission. But after the update running the malex binary, darkmod shows the version 2.0 instead of 2.01. The windows version detects version 2.01. Is there a way to manually change my version in the mac binary or something else to solve it? To make new windows/mac players easier, is it possible to port the updater and excutable to unity3d? I updated my installation to 2.01 with the windows updater (through wine). (if you dont trust the updater, just make an backup of your darkmod folder. Or change the download location in the updater for a full new installation) At the moment, I dont have full screen problems. For the time beeing, Run Darkradiant with Wine. I succesfully started Darkradiant with Wine (through playonmac), but have not the knowledge to create an map.
  6. Hello guys I find the same troubles with v. 1.08: missing textures, black smoke of the torch, etc. Would you please tell me how to fix this problem? Thank you in advance!
  7. I was just watching a beta-test of my mission, and the player failed an objective (he had the objective screen open when this happened and saw the X appear). After the failed game showed, he clicked on the Objectives option, and that same objective had a checkmark instead of an X. Has anyone noticed this before? That could be quite confusing for players trying to figure out why they failed, and I'm wondering if it's a game bug or something incorrect I've done with my objectives.
  8. Hey - picked up a Surface Pro recently, and was looking forward to running TDM on it. The problem is, when I fire it up, I'm only getting the upper left section of the the game screen. Any ideas what might cause this? It's running on Windows 8.1, and has an i5 processor and 4 GB of memory.
  9. There are two suggested fixes for another game in this thread. I can't test whether they work with TDM as I don't have a tablet, but might be worth a shot: http://us.battle.net...pic/10160426196 One is to change the surface's default 150% dpi to 100%, the other is to switch off the full screen setting which apparently still results in full display).
  10. Hmmm, no matter what res I use, the screen looks the same (as above). My desktop resolution is 1920x1080. This was a fresh/new install, btw. Other games have worked OK, although I've only tried a few. Grabbing the Hexen demo now to try out another id tech 4 game.
  11. It's tough to get to the settings with the screen as is - is there a way to change the resolution by way of cfg or ini files?

  13. Also at the bottom of the game screen, below the Quit option, does it say TDM 2.0 or TDM 2.01?
  14. Can you post a screenshot first (and make sure what you see on screen is the same as on the screenshot)?
  15. If you create a glprogs folder in your darkmod folder and place a new heathaze.vfp file there, it should override the effect for all missions.   16. Well i've had my monitor for a week now and I have to say i'm very happy with it. The color quality and depth is incredible. The screen is very big and bright and I don't see any ghosting. For the price I paid I am very happy with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone in the market for a good quality cheap 24"
  17. I've recently started playing The Dark Mod again, and from scratch, so I'm downloading a mission at a time, completing it then downloading a new one and so on. I've noticed that after perhaps 3 or 4 missions, there's a green "mission completed" tick appearing on an empty line in the missions selection screen. I did a test and downloaded several missions so that the list was filled up, and the tick lined up on a mission I hadn't even played. At one point the tick appeared on the Training mission which is explicitly not completeable. I've also found a case where I lost a tick on a mission that I had completed, so something's a bit wrong somewhere. I don't know what triggers the bug, but it seems fairly easy to reproduce. Just download 3 or 4 missions, complete a few and the tick will probably appear (or at least does for me, with a fresh "install"). I'll attached a screenshot once I get back to my regular computer if it helps.
  18. Hi guys, first of all i appreciate this mod a lot, but while playing the game often Crashes with a grey screen. ( its a medium light grey like this background here). The only Error appears is "Ein Problem wurde festgestellt Windows sucht nach einer Lösung..." or something which means that Windows found a problem, but nothing more. This happend while saving, quicksaving, quickloading and finishing from missions. Also the Game is very laggy, almost to laggy for my Notebook. The Rig: Win7 Home Premium 64Bit 8 GB RAM Intel Core i7-2670QM CPU 2,20GHz*4 NVIDIA GeForce 630M with 1GB GRAM Drivers from Grafikcard is up to date and other Games, which i guess are needing more Energy are running quite liquid, like Battlefield 4 or TitanfallBeta. I am not sure what information i can give you to help you better help me but just say "Hey i need XY-Information". And also im not native english, so please try not to answer with to many difficult words, or else i maybe dont understand your answer, which would be sad, cause this would be idle running Thanks for your Help in future!
  19. You sound like something straight out of a Steam community hub rant. Have you just installed a mission and missed the new button that appears in the top left in the New Mission screen?
  20. nope! its not working. couldn`t there be a little patch with a new "settings" -screen with no EAX-option ? Many people stepped into this bug by enabling this option (like me as I began play TDM) At the current state it is a complete useless option & failure origin.
  21. Are you a "fast twitch gamer" or do you like play games where you don't move your hand in split second increments? IPS panel @$250 and a review on it is decent 1900x1200. TN panels will have faster response, worse viewing angles and a bit of the wash out you speak of depending on the panel. (I have some TN panels but I sit directly in front of them and calibrated them so most of these things you "get used to" and/or don't notice after a time, which is sad but... money saved and fast twitch engaged. You do get used to ghosting on lower response monitors if you are a fast twitch gamer but it is still distracting sometimes which may/may not annoy you over time. What monitor do you currently have? Hard to give recommendations without knowing what we're stepping up from. IMO, monitor is the best upgrade anyone can make to their PC to make it fEEl bigger and better and having more screen real estate is always welcome.
  22. @Jinix: Can you move the darkmod folder to a safe place like your documents? Make sure its the right folder though, containing the pk4 files and the like. @Lux: I'm not sure about the X86 compatibility thing, but I would imagine the same rule applies. They really do not want programs just writing wherever said program feels like it anymore... and for good reason! The backward compatibility thing won't be a problem for older software because as far as it knows, it wrote to (and is reading from) the program files folder. The problem comes into play when the user wants to find files that a program supposedly saved to program files\appname, for example screen dumps or saves in old games. I just wish they didn't put the stuff in an obscure place, 6-8 levels deep in terms of sub-directories.
  23. As far as I know the weapons and things in front of the water being wavy is because it's a post process effect. The area on the screen inside the water has the effect applied, this includes your weapons and the pole on the pier etc. This can only be fixed by changing how Doom 3 renders so that effects like heat haze get applied then the rest of the scene gets rendered over top. The way it is now, that would just make the game slower.
  24. just tried qeffects-gl ... SSAO produces spots all over the screen. Could be that it doesn't play well with Intel GPU hardware...
  25. Problem: Framerate dips down to 5fps at certain locations. Which in themselves are rather random by elements present in them. Possibly linked problem: Loading the map at launching the game always takes about 5 minutes, this happens after the loading bar completes. Cpu is just about 15%. Examples: Requiem starts lagging after entering to the central part of town, where the church is located. It ends after descending down. It starts again right after you pick the third stone disk. (i guess you can pick these out of order, this is the one i got first) Both in town and after picking up the disc, the map is populated by lots of AI. So maybe it's related to that. I've also had this in Alberic's curse in the wide beginning part, i did not go further. Now what makes this weird is that when i played requiem and the performance got bad again. I Noticed that the problem goes completely away for about 15-20 seconds if i press esc to enter the menu and stay in there for a while. A Short taps of the menu do nothing, but about a minute in there and the problem is gone for the brief time. I have tried messing around with graphical settings with no luck. All from resolution to v-sync to other quality options. I did try resetting the Darkmod.cfg by restoring the old one. I have also tried to change as many compression and image settings there as i have the knowledge to. I play with 3 screens in eyefinity normally, but i also tried just a single screen. My windows installation isn't very old. Just a 1-2 months. Drivers installed were the latest ones. My computer specs are following: Amd 8 core 4ghz, 4gb ram, Radeon HD6850. Windows 7. So you wouldn't think that it's a problem with my computer since i don't have any temperature issues and i run other games just fine. Here's to show this in action.
