  1. Hello I'm new to Dark Mod and I have a problem with the screen. The field of vision behaves strange like I have 360° vision. When I move the mouse, the field of vision is warped. Why is that? How can I turn it off?
  2. Evening Atm I have a bunch of shortcuts for my various mission in my quicklanch and a main shortcut on my desktop. The mission shortcuts are as follows - E:\Darkmod\TheDarkMod.exe +set com_allowConsole 1 +set r_fullscreen 0 +set fs_currentfm campaign I would like to force the short on my desk(which i use to play a mission rather than test it) to full screen and use a specified resolution (1680*1050),I can force to full screen but not at the correct res. So my question is can I edit the shortcut to suit or perhaps run a custome config file..?
  3. I've just downloaded the updater and run it to create a fresh tdm install on my laptop (running Fedora 20), and when I run TDM it causes my login session to quit! Here's the result of running ./thedarkmod.x86 >&tdm.log: The truncated last line is how it appears in the log. The graphics card is reported as VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 4th Gen Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 06) by running lspc | grep VGA , so I guess it's pretty basic. I can't think of anything else relevant to report. Any thoughts?
  4. Hi I just installed your mod and wanted to give it a test ride but it seems not to load quite as it should. Im running pathced doom3 for linux (1.3.1) on Ubuntu 9.10 and the log that doom produces is: renderSystem initialized. -------------------------------------- 5194 strings read from strings/english.lang Couldn't open journal files execing editor.cfg execing default.cfg execing DoomConfig.cfg execing autoexec.cfg set r_lightScale = 2.0 Autoexec_base ok. 5194 strings read from strings/english.lang ----- Initializing Sound System ------ sound system initialized. ----------------------
  5. Black screen or black window? Perhaps a screenshot of the files in your tdm folder (detailed view with file sizes, etc)
  6. Full screen. Just tried running in windowed by changing the Darkmod.cfg setting. Still showing black screen with TDM mouse. I've got this version originally by updating from 2.06 to 2.07. The result was the same as now. Then I deleted all files except fms folder and downloaded the updater again from www.thedarkmod.com There are no subdirectories except fms and screenshots (which I deleted when I reinstalled TDM so now I only have missionshots folder inside fms and no screenshots folder anymore). I'll try reinstalling again and report back. qqq.txt
  7. Not so long ago I found what could make a pretty good profile picture and decided to try it out on these new forums. But I couldn't find a button anywhere that would let me change it. I asked on Discord and it seems Spooks also couldn't find anything anywhere. So I logged into an old alternative account and, lo and behold, that account has a button. This is on the first screen I get when I: 1) click on my account name in the top-right of the browser -> 2) click on 'profile'. Compared to my actual account: Are you also missing this button on your account? It'd be very much ap
  8. Strange ... After trying to capture in-game screenshots for comparison between 2.06 and SVN, and taking Windows screen captures for comparison, the problem has morphed to: SVN is darker than 2.06, but the "nearly-all-black screen" condition that I saw has changed to a "noticeably darker, but not all-black" condition. Since I invoked SVN by accident while working with my WIP in 2.06, I'm willing to let this go until we get into 2.07 beta and see how other existing missions behave. Perhaps it was some unexplained momentary glitch on my end.
  9. Solved (sort of)! There is evidently a minor bug in the way skybox tdm_sky_starry1 works with portal sky. The somewhat different tdm_sky_starry2 doesn't suffer it. The bug is not typically visible due to ground structures and clutter. To reproduce the problem: 1) Start a new project, with a hollow box as a room (e.g., 512 units per side) 2) Texture the sides with portal sky, except give the floor a typical (not too dark) texture. 3) Outside the room, create prefab nature/skybox/tdm_sky_starry1.pfb 4) In the room centroid, create entity Lights/sources/atdm_ambient_world. As usual,
  10. I'm having a bit of trouble with my resolution settings. I had to recently reinstal my game. Doom 3 and TDM went in just fine. But everytime I load the mod, regardless of the resolution, the entire title screen is oversized so that I only see the top half of the thief and the left corner of the title menu. I've tried manually setting darkmod.cfg and creating an autoexec.cfg to 1920x1080, r_mode -1. Nothing works. If I go to windowed mode, I can get the game to display in a low resolution 480 window, but that's about it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, and keep up the good work. This
  11. Holy hell that many! I tried "Tears of Saint.Lucia" and add no ctd's but i did noticed one thing that I didn't noticed before, the skybox was pitch black! I saw it because the water puddles reflected a starry night and I looked up and saw black. So i take back what I said about having no problems. Also this is more a suggestion when the intro for this mission starts, after some time, a tip could show telling the player how to skip it, telling him to use the action button, why, because I tried to skip with ESC and add to start the mission again.
  12. Since the Windows 10 upgrade is still freely available, and suspecting it would no longer be after Win7 support ends in January, I decided to bite the bullet and do the nasty. Also, my Win7 was beginning to hiccup. Hahahahahaha. One farking dead-end after another until it finally seems to be stable. Even dealt with the "white screen of death". Unfortunately, I needed to recover my Win7 back to a years-earlier recovery point before installing Win10, which lost me a number of programs which I am now in the process of restoring. Even though I've installed the Visual Studio 2017 red
  13. But those logfiles dont show any video startuplines. So i keep advising to use the arguments. Its nice to hear you get tdm running, but I (or we) want to see how tdm loads your video driver How about the following command: thedarkmod.exe +condump mylog.txt and post the content op mylog.txt a tutorial to get tdm with startup the arguments running: hit the keyboard combination "windows + r", enter the following line and click on ok: c:\games\darkmod\thedarkmod.exe +condump mylog.txt +quit (assuming thats your location of the darkmod folder) or hit the keyboard combination "windows-key + r" (
  14. Yes, of course I see it. There is another problem, which bugs TDM since 2.06 maybe. When user saves/loads a game, the screen blinks showing some random things. There is also a long-standing issue 4967 on our roadmap about it, although it probably describes some different effects (but for the same reason). I agree that it is sad. While it does not harm anyone and has low priority, it makes the apparent difference between a polished game and WIP build.
  15. I found a bit of a weird work-around for this, that's a bit of a pain to set up but appears to do something. Run TDM from one machine through Steam, stream it to the machine you want to play it on that has a weird aspect - Steam resizes everything to fit the screen of the machine to which TDM is being streamed. I've plugged in an old 4:3 monitor to an old machine and then Steam-streamed it to another machine that is running a monitor at 16:9 and there's no letterboxing as, eg, watching an old TV show from the 80's on a widescreen. There's a little clipping where it's stretched, compared to
  16. I'm desperate to play TDM but I just can't get past the blank menu screen problem. I have a native Linux (Ubuntu Lucid) Doom 3 install which runs perfectly on a Dell Inspiron 1525 (Intel X3100 integrated graphics) but no matter what TDM fix, update, or install I try, I always get a blank menu screen with just a cursor and the TDM music playing. I've clicked about on the blank screen before and have seen some sort of intro running so I'm pretty sure this is just a problem with the menus. I've been trying to get TDM running for weeks now and have trawled this site and google for fixes but have h
  17. --> techsupport. Dont know. Please select a low screen resolution, like 800X600, set full screen and restart the game. Test if it get on full screen. If so, set the screen resolution and aspect ratio to your taste. Which screenresolution and aspect ratio do you want to select?
  18. Interestingly, I don't see the problem where Grayman showed it in the training mission. But I see completely unlit pieces of walls behind "Keys and Lockpicks" and "Gamma and Brightness" doors. UPDATE: Doing vid_restart fixes those problematic sections, but breaks different places: they become completely black so that even lantern does not help. This is accompanied with GL_INVALID_OPERATION error spamming in console. I guess vid_restart is broken for a long time already, so no surprise here.
  19. I am seeing the same issue in New Job mission, at the very beginning. Some sections of the floor are totally black, unless I enable a lantern (which lights them). Looks so weird, like if the world is partially disintegrated. Here is the video. Attached config file and console. Darkmod.cfg qconsole.log
  20. Hello Taffers, Today when I tried TDM, and the resolution was not full screen. I don't know why, i changed absolutely nothing. This is the effect on my screen: http://bayimg.com/nAkOOAADG (the game start perfectly but not scale at full screen, i have alway the the little black border on left high, as you can see on the image) I tried configuring a lot of settings in the doomconfig.cfg on the darkmod root, but without any success :-( Any idea/suggestion to solve this? My HW/SW configuration is on my sign.
  21. 4. Switch the 'lightning' light to parallel? Now wait a minute Isn't this an ambient light essentially? I mean, does it need shadows, or direction? If it does need direction, it should be parallel. If it does not need both, it can be ambient. Alternatively, we could use the current world size instead of the hardcoded 999999 One more option, the lightning could be implemented via a screen filter, or something
  22. I don't know if this has already been said, I could not find anything about it anywhere, and I hope this is the right place to point this out. I found this weird bug in the training mission, where the screen goes crazy if I go underwater when the health is not full. The majority of the screen freezes, and I can only see a smaller screen in the bottom left corner in which I can continue to play. If I return on surface, everything turn back ok, same thing if I cure full health (even underwater). I noticed this in the training mission only, in "Tears of St Lucia", for example, everything goes per
  23. https://bugs.thedarkmod.com/view.php?id=5068 Sometimes, when going underwater, the shader responsible for blurring the view will shrink the image to roughly 1/4 of the screen (1/2 both horizontally and vertically) and position it in the lower-left corner, while leaving a jumble of textures to display in the background. This only seems to happen on rare occasions; My latest test suggest it occurs if the player has taken any damage and the health bar is showing up on the HUD. I'm running TDM 2.07 x64 on Linux (openSUSE Tumbleweed) with the free video drivers (amdgpu).
  24. Thanks for testing. This help us too, to help other players in the future on their first-run. Some on the internet say, to also install the vcrun2015 component. Please install it and check it reaction. A black screen with sound is a video problem. You can solve this by change things in the tdm config file or run tdm with start-arguments. Run TDM windowed mode and low screen resolution: make a backup of the file "darkmod.cfg" (by make a copy of it) Then open the file with a texteditor, change the following values and save the file. r_customHeight 600 r_customWidth 800 r_fullscr
  25. It looks like it's the heat haze, and not smoke particles, that's showing the problem. Okay on 2.07 hotfix. Black on SVN Hardware is NVIDIA GeForce GTX960. CHecking for latest drivers ...
