-i think the reed stands to straight and symmetric

(- the crosses are a good idea, but there is another religion...)

-and also some (boring) wallblocks around destroy the atmosphere i think

hope that helps

maybe.some forest parts could be replaced with seed instead of single trees

but i dunno how to use seed

really easy going, use the wiki and the seed thread of tels. i used it in the area with the church in my vid (for the gras and small bushes)

As all of the tress are LOD entities I dont we think we would gain anything..? but may if we used SEED for shrubs and such, that might be useful...

That's some nice moody lighting. It looks like a real-life old 1700s church. All it needs is a big hammer "crucifix" on the back wall.

I just took SH's original church and just detailed and tweaked it :-) Will add a scaled hammer when SH hands the map back.

That SEED link dosent work and regarding that screenshot, I was underthe impression that we had to use LOD entities, but can I now assume that I/we can use any FS in conjunction with SEED..?

Yes, you can. Normal "model" func_statics, and it even works with brushes build inside DR and turned into func_statics. That way you can even clone brushes at run time :)

I've been working on that test map with animated md5mesh grass that I promised long time ago. I took more time than I expected as I kept adding and adding details. I have been experimenting a lot with Blender's particle system. Hopefully map should be ready within two weeks. Here's a screenshot:

It's only a model...

Looks great!

Now... are all those blades of grass part of alpha textures? (Eg. is there as much alpha-sort in that scene as I think there is)?

I'd better find a way to upgrade anyway

While SEED is certainly an applicable topic to that scene, this seems like a natural fit for LOD as well.

Basically create giant fuzzy sprite deform patches in place of a group of distant grass patch planes (so one out of many gets the LOD the others are culled). (I'll have to make a drawing...)

Also, maybe a low-end performance option for "noDynamicInteractions" on all those as I see they are lit. ^_^

(All paranoia of course, I have no idea how hard that'll hit my rig  )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?
