Just learned that H.R.Giger has passed away. Coincidentally, my WIP mission have few visuals "strongly influenced" by his style. I hope it will carry a spirit of his works well.

@Goldwell: yes it will be in submarine mission.

 

@Bikerdude: do Doom3 have visibility gem? But it stretch TDM staffage for sure. For now, mission's "protagonist" looks like nuclear class submarine.

TDM doesn't really have a universe, there are recommendations but hey if theres a mission stealing and/or having an adventure under the sea i'm in!

 

It would also be really cool to see a futuristic steampunk spaceship FM as well ;)

I would second what Goldwell says. Not every TDM mission has to be part of the TDM universe. The main point is that it is entertaining.

Well, it does, but that doesn't mean every mission has to take place there. Isn't there a famous T2 mission that takes place on Mars or something?

Well I guess all the FM's have a central theme that steampunk/medieval world but what I mean is there's no overlying story tieing these all in together. It's moreso each FM author either creates there own universe/setting or refers to the universe planned out in the wiki (which is very good might I add). I have planned some future FM's that really step outside of what would be a "regular" TDM FM and explore some different landscapes/situations.

 

 

And for instance my ship have a diesel engine -not because I really value dieselpunk over steampunk or clockworkpunk, but just because I have managed to reproduce full animated engine, with moving pistons and (glass) cylinders filling with fuel and bursting with flame repetitively, with interactive four speed gearbox. It would be stupid to dump it just for genre purity.

Oh yes indeed. I'm just about ready to send that section to you for your thoughts. It's actually not *that* bad though, but there are a few spots where the primitive count goes up to the 2700s.

But you should walk having internal dignity. Be a wonderful person who can dance pleasantly to the rhythm of the universe.

Re: Scifi Thief FMs, reminds me of IIRC JohnD's later Love Story FMs which were quite scifi.

And of course Sliptip's very scifi FM.

I like these kinds of excursions sometimes.

      Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

      I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
      Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

      Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

      Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
