So, what are you working on right now?

That's very neat, actually! Reminds me a lot of Mount and Blade, though you can clearly see some of the bugs, like a bit of the "stiffness" of the running horse and the fact you will actually hit him on the head when swinging weapons. But yes, I definetly would like to see this implemented in TDM!

It's a laughingstock that a couple of pathetic babies on here felt so picked upon by his teenage ways that they had no answer but to ban him.

Well, if you change "picked upon by his teenage ways" into "tired of his non-constructive non-contributing whining destructive combatitive antisocial behavior" and then "a couple of pathetic babies" into "a horde of mature contributors who finally tired of dealing with this continuous poor behavior, even after working with him in several ways to not only improve his work but also his attitude, yet failing in the end", and you might have a clearer picture of what occurred.

For the record, this ridable horse has been in TDM for ages. Ishtvan made it using vehicle code from D3. It's commented out in the release build because there were some unresolved clipping issues.

Ah, so there all along for anyone to tinker with :-) What were the clipping issues just out of curiosity.

I can't really remember. I have a vague recollection of it having to do with the player being able to clip into things, like riding the horse into a room and you'd be clipping into the ceiling. But don't quote me on that.

We do have a number of open issues (search for horse on the tracker):

Not sure if these are relevant, but I don't think anyone has worked on the horse for a year or more.

Regarding the horse -

1. would the horse be restricted by monsterclip even when the player is riding it..?

2. can the player be "mounted" at mission start..?

3. if the player comes into contact with say a tree branch while riding the house will the player and horse stop or will the player get knock off the horse..?

I ask because I have a map I am working on updating a map for 1.08 and am cursious to see if I could use the horse for a short distance without getting into to much trouble...

Yes it is limited, but you will never hit those limits in private usage. The number of files you can sync automatically per month is limited, but that number is reheeeally high: 40.000! :) Also, you can still click on manual sync, after you've hit that limit.

Looks good, but in my opinion it's too flat. I'd try extruding the second floor outwards a little bit.

I see what you mean. I might extend the sections that have an extra floor outwards to break up the flat feel.

Visually I see impressive work on orderly architectural language and very good use of textures between elements! Like Diego says, an immersive environment is a lot more noticeable and overall enjoyed than level geometry alone, the only thing missing for me really is dirt, debris and uncontrolled vegetation growths scattered around in some of those areas. Glad to hear it is almost finished!

Glad to hear your still on-track ithel!

Nice shots Sir Taffsalot. I'd agree that a little visual clutter might help for some of those scenes

but I'll bet they look much better with AA and AF cranked-up anyway. I'd only suggest that the darker

building with the arched entrance in the 2nd screen get a little grime to contrast against the clean

looking red building.

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
